I'd like to see you stand next to some sort of bomb (point blank!) while wearing iron armour and survive.
creepers need to be buffed some more! they're weak!
noob
If you want to get really realistic, a blast that puts a hole in the ground the size they make should destroy glass panes for about as far as you can see and deal damage for dozens of blocks out, killing you regardless of armor further out than its current damage radius. It takes a big bomb to blast a hole nine feet deep unless it's buried. Is it safe to assume that the center of a creeper explosion is at least a meter above ground?
I don't want that. I'm running 1.8.1 and I think they're tough enough. I keep hearing that they're even more dangerous in 1.9, so I can sympathize with the people who say they're too tough.
As far as SMP difficulty goes, you cannot set difficulty in SMP even as server host, you either have monsters on or off. SMP Creepers one-shot at point blank.
Wait... I'm confused.
So you're saying that this doesn't do anything?
From the server.properties
difficulty=2
From the wiki
Defines the difficulty (such as damage dealt by mobs and the way hunger and poison affects players) of the server. Setting spawn-monsters=false overrides this setting and uses difficulty=0.
0 - Peaceful
1 - Easy [default]
2 - Normal
3 - Hard
How to Kill Your Creeper:
Step 1: Hit it
Step 2: Back up
Repeat until dead.
Alternatively, assuming the Creeper isn't on high terrain and you aren't playing SMP (cuz of lag):
Step 1: Hit it
Step 2: Repeat as needed
You don't need to move if you actually hit it at maximum range, because of how ridiculous the sword's reach is.

I could care less about how powerful they are. Creepers should be dangerous.
But I really hate the range increase, especially in caves where you can't just back up like it's nobodies business. The range increase is just too much. Point blank should be deadly, 3 blocks from it should be extremely damaging but not fatal, and around 6-7 blocks should just do a quarter of your health bar. Not like the instant death from 7 blocks away like we have now.

I find being 1 hit killed a really stupid concept. It's not that I am bad at the game. It's just that being instantly killed because I wanted to type or check my inventory is pathetic. I say, they should do about 8 1/2 hearts of damage without armor.
It's tiring when people say use potions, as some of us aren't in 1.9 nor do we have the materials to do so. Minecraft being able to survive without using certain game elements is what makes it a sandbox game (which I see gone in 1.9)
I would honestly be fine with having their damage doubled from what it was in 1.8, minus a bit on easy to avoid 1-hit kills. What we got was at least 3 times the power, while none of the other mobs got power-ups. When I go outside at night to fight mobs, the only ones I am worried about are skeletons and creepers. Skeletons are only a problem because they damage my armor, not because they might kill me. Why should creepers be so much stronger than everything else in the game, when they are already silent and blow up terrain?
I definitely think creepers should be able to 1-hit kill you sometimes. That is what makes the game exciting. You have to be careful. You have to watch your back. You should be worried to go out at night or into a dark dungeon. It is what makes creepers the icon they are. I hate when things like this get nerfed too far down to where they loose what is cool about them.
However, I do think there should be limits. For example maybe something like this:
Easy: 1 hit kill at point blank with no armor, but not at distance. Normal: 1 hit kill at point blank with leather armor, or 1 hit kill at distance with no armor Hard: 1 hit kill at point blank with iron armor, or 1 hit kill at distance with leather armor
I would still probably bump the armor levels up one, so you would die in easy with leather, etc, but you get the idea. So if you have full good armor maybe you would be safe at point blank. But if you let your heath get a little to low or loose some armor you are still in trouble. Or maybe you would die at point blank but if you can just back up a little, you are only left with little life.
Remember aside from hit and run there are bows in the game that help to take them out at range.
tl;dr
Creepers should 1-hit kill you under some circumstances but not all.
Last time, i got killed by a creeper and it was more than 4 blocks away (and i was on easy). i think that the problem is that they might be able to make critical hits. if thats not the reason i cant see why sometimes i get 1 explotion killed by them and sometimes i dont
Its true. At first i thought i was seeing things - but i've been one shot at full life WITH FULL IRON ARMOR too many times to just throw it away as false. I have no source though - i dont follow notches twitter often or anything. I play on a SMP server (i don't know what difficulty these are set at by default). It seems based on distance from creeper when they explode, but not positive. Creepers are very easy to kill when you see them coming, yes. They honestly rarely sneak up on me but, When you explore constantly as i do, eventually.. because of the fact they they have no footsteps.. they will get you sometimes - especially since they can kill you with one explosion through iron armor.
What i'm curious about if anyone knows what i know above (creepers can one-shot through iron armor) and has tested Blast-resistant armor through enchants to see if it makes creepers survivable. That may be interesting but still would be a bit lame to rely on enchants to actually survive a single hit from a creeper. I would love to be mortally wounded have only one leg left and limp away after a creeper blast, but being One-shot full hp, full iron armor (sometimes with random enchants) by 1 creeper blast? Its not good design.
SMP server i'm on is simply vanilla pre-5, no mods, and my friends have confirmed the one-shotting creepers w/ iron armor from first hand experience.
Isnt all armor the same but with different durability.
i'm pretty sure they said all mobs had been buffed on the minecraft monday show and Vox said creepers and ghasts can 1 shot you no matter the difficulty but he also said that, that means your armour does better protection against blasts -6 on easy -9 on normal -10 on hard
so yes they one shoot you 90% of the time (based on the health values of players)
I'd like to see you stand next to some sort of bomb (point blank!) while wearing iron armour and survive.
creepers need to be buffed some more! they're weak!
noob
I would like to see you survive 5 shots from a bow before dying.
I'm not so sure I agree. I survived three point-blank Creeper blasts in an abandoned mine. I did have full armor at about half durability, and I blocked each time.
Buffed? I don't think they were, but then again I seldom wander in caverns without some sort of full armor now.
In my opinion they we buff too much, I just got hit point blank when i had full health and 3 pieces of half destroyed iron armor and I got 1 hit.
If you have no iron armor and are just starting in a world, you are pretty much insta killed by and point of the explosion, they should do 8-9 hearts of damage , enough to **** with you, but not enough to inta kill you.
TBH this is kinda a rage because for the past few few days i have lost diamonds, enchantment tables, and tons of my stuff, due to an unneeded buff.

Sounds good to me.
I've had to change my exploring style from "mildly cautious and mostly gung-ho" to "Shoot, is that a hole in the ceiling?....." tiptoeing around. Its alright but it isn't as fun really. If a mob gets the drop on me I'd like to have a swinging chance. Let me die if I stupidly wander into a throng of 3-10 mobs or hang out naked by a cave spider spawner. Don't insta-jibe my face with 5 kilos of plastique when Mr. Creeper does a paradrop, thanks.
Yes, if you fight them they are easy. Its when they gank you alley-style that you have no recourse but dying. And that blows IMO.
I think nothing in the game should be able to insta-kill you on easy mode. Also, I think that the best way to buff the creeper would be to make it smarter. Make it seek out high terrain so it can jump on you. Maybe make it so that it hides behind blocks. I propose the following damages:
Easy: 9.5 hearts at point blank range with no armor. Weakness for thirty seconds.
Normal: 9.5 hearts at point blank range with full leather armor. Weakness for one minute.
Hard: 9.5 hearts at point blank range with full iron armor. Nausea for thirty seconds, weakness for two minutes.
I think creepers should work to get your health really low. Force you to stay fed. This in a way makes creepers more dangerous because, instead of just adding one thing that can kill you, they make it easier for anything else to kill you

How to not die in a cave
Wait... I'm confused.
So you're saying that this doesn't do anything?

Point is if you hear a creeper hiss, pull out your sword and hold the right button.
Ither that or flip out and jump around XD
