And you're quite right in that regard, Terraria's "Gamey" aspects are a lot more deep then what minecraft presently provides, I'm really not in contention over that point, but I'm stating that minecraft is trying to push itself closer to that bar as of late which is why The End exists.
The point I am trying to make is creating the End is a bit pointless if the normal world and Nether still aren't fleshed out.
I don't want millions of new items and ores and stuff, that's why I dislike the aether. Why use coal when you can have some other random yellow thing like it? The End has it's ups and downs, but I assume it will progress just like the Nether will.
The Aether mod is disappointing, imho, because in my mind it has an MMO-like progression path. All new stuff that completely replaces all the old stuff and even some of the old stuff doesn't work. Horrible.
On the other hand, Better than Wolves has you processing Netherrack and combining it with coal to make something that lasts twice as long. Additions from new realms shouldn't REPLACE things you used before...they should make things you used before better or allow you to make new contraptions and devices that add to and interact with previous gameplay rather than replace it. This is how the normal world works as far as ores are concerned. When you get diamond, you don't cease caring about getting iron, for instance.
Imho, the Nether should be full of things like that. Strongholds, Dungeons, and the like in all dimensions should have special blocks/items you find that enhance and add to previous gameplay as well. Rare ores, rare blocks, rare items, new devices to make, etc, etc. Right now there is very little of this in the game, and it's a dang shame.
It's also a shame that there aren't many mods that look at this problem either. Hmm, perhaps I'll have to look into learning how to mod the game.
The End is a nice place for survival. You bring a single inventory of stuff and try to live off it, plant trees, farm, make a smoothstone generator, and so on. It can be compared to the skyblock challenge seen in the news a few weeks ago, if you run out of something and don't have anything planted for it, it's gone. You have to make decisions like what to bring, how to protect areas from endermen, or how to acquire the materials for a house.
Yeah I don't like the end in general, but thats just because of my brain. With minecraft having a "ending" it makes it much less satisfying to go on. You can continue building your giant house, but the game will feel complete, and I don't want that.

thats what I was thinking too, also no matter what you put in the End, what excting adventure or block you will lose it all because the only way out is dying, I honestly have no idea what the point of the End was, I just wanted a sky dimension like the eather but without the 50,000 blocks and tools, we already have nether which is in short, hell, so why add another evil scary dimension, I want a place to relax that doesnt remond me of the nether so much. I think notch should just quit with the end and get on with the rest of the game. If they are hurring to finish it then making a whole new world isnt going to help them
You have just explained everything I was trying to say. Thank you and +1!

Actually there probably will be a way to leave the end without dying in the future, but it probably will require killing the enderdragon and credits. It still makes the game feel closed.
I don't really see any purpose in removing it. You have to go out of your way to interact with the world. And I'm sure it didn't take long to create (even if it did, it's too late anyway), dragons took a long time to create but the model (even if it is resized or retextured) and the AI (with only minor changes) will be reused anyway. I might see why someone wouldn't want to add a whole bunch of new stuff to it, that would take extra time and I'd be fine with it how it is (plus dragons, which are already close to completion).
I do beleive that they'll add loads more stuff into it, because ATM its not that worthwhile, other than those epic dragonz.
[ Dragons are always red. ]
yeah but take note; it took from alpha 1.1.2 <-i think) til now for the nether to get anything remotely interesting in it, and it's still half complete (or maybe it already is)
what makes you think the end will get anything special, outside of its offerings?
Meh. My opinion stands. I always thought the nether to be the hell of minecraft, shouldn't it have different ores and structures?
Great idea!

Explain the pistons.

Well, at first the nether was only 3 blocks and 2 mobs. The End is 2 blocks and 2 mobs, not much difference in content.
But look at the Nether now, it's really cool! Just give the End some time, it will surely get better :smile.gif:
This.

I'm not letting this die out! Bump!

How is a dragon flying around a world that looks like **** and guts cool?
HUGE difference there.
