Hi. I really hate when mineshafts cross stuff. it just looks.....awful. when i found my first stronghold, it was a abandoned mineshaft running right trough it. and strongholds are quite rare, so when i find one, i want to find one in good shape. and when they are just randomly flying across a ravine... that just does not look right. i know its hard to make a game, but it HAS to be one way to stop them from interuppting with other natural structures. comments?
Love them. Wherever they cross I love them. It would be appropriate to add a wooden floor though, to remove the "ugly" feeling when crossing thorugh large bodies of air Ex. Ravines caves strongholds
The server I play on primarily so far has ZERO abandoned mines. I've gone out of my way trying to find one. The server was started 1.6 or so, but not explored much. Some of the faroff areas we've portalled to are definitely 1.9, but still no mineshafts. It's frustrating mostly because melons are required for health pots now.

Have you found any structures aside from dungeons, like villages or strongholds? I remember there was a problem after 1.8 with structures not generating in new chunks in old maps.
(Also, what's a "moneshaft"? Some Middle English word for a tunnel to the moon?)
I once found a 1.9.4 Stronghold. Made it to the enderportal room and found a abandoned mine had cut across the room and destroyed half the Ender blocks needed for the portal. So I spent the next 12 hours looking for another Stronghold. This one too had am abandoned mine cutting through it but luckily the enderportal rooms was located in a different section that wasn't touched by the mine.
Later on I found two more strongholds that were ruined by abandoned mine tunnels. both had their portal rooms obliterated by the mine generation.

... I just really like it how it looks when you're walking through a stronghold and walk out onto a massive cliff!
The only problem with this is that mineshafts are gonna have huge chunks ripped out of them by caves of all the time. So instead of floating wooden doorways, there will be lots of partially destroyed wooden doorways. But maybe that's a better alternative.
Mineshafts in Strongholds are terrible, but I do really like it when a stronghold is divided up by a ravine, so I like that order as well. Well, actually ravines are just air, so you can't have Strongholds take priority over them or else there will be floating strongholds in the middle of a ravine which will be even weirder than the floating Mineshafts.

You know, I haven't. I have found Nether Ruins. But no strongholds or villages.
Stronghold
Ravine
Mineshaft
in that order.
I think it might look better as:
Mineshaft
Ravine
Stronghold.
Strongholds should take precedence so that the portals aren't wrecked.
The Sun rises in the North! Now these points of data make a beautiful line...

Yeah there needs to be less abandoned mines.
They should also increase the amount of stongholds. I did the math and it seems that there are about 5 strongholds in every world.

I'd prefer
Mineshaft
Stronghold
Ravine

This. I like exploring them but there's too many of them. They make it next to impossible to build mob traps.
It would be more fun if they ACTUALY LED SOMEWHERE.
I was the second person to use the avatar I have. The rest took it from me. The first I asked, he said yes.
I know what I'm doing. I plan ahead, or get tired and screw up everything.

LoLd at moon mineshaft though. :laugh.gif:
It'd be nice if they couldn't bisect each other, but overall I like abandoned mineshafts.
