but surely sir you cannot imply they are different things!
fantasy = rpg!
there's never been a role playing game based in SPACE!
there's never been a fantasy story that wasn't a role playing game!!
First thing that popped into my mind was the fry meme of not sure if trolling or just stupid lol. I'm hoping that this is sarcasm cuz if it is I applaud you. on topic though I don't see a problem with the new additions to minecraft this is literally a case of if you don't like it then don't use it. I've heard these arguments in the fallout forums, the skyrim forums, ect. and all of them end up the same way, the problem is solved as simply as not using the new feature that is introduced into the game because it's an easily avoidable feature. and as for the pvp server problems for those of you that say you like a challenge well then fighting a person that's got better equipment is a perfect challenge for you, adapt your fighting style to his, an enchanted sword is useless against a bow that knocks him back when he's hit, or use a splash potion to slow him down or poison him if he's got a speed boost or health regeneration. It adds a variation to combat that is pretty interesting if you ask me. And once again it's easily avoidable if you don't wish to use it. if you don't want to use the new items to fight the guy well then you'll just have to get better at fighting against him with base equipment then won't you? (and if you have an issue with the pvp issue even after this then make your own server and get a plugin to stop the new features from being used)
exactly. the new addition do absolutely nothing to change the game. i can do now everything i could have done in the previous versions. the only addition is more stuff to collect and build with.
lol you obviously didn't see me and Joby going back and forth on that one then?
Lol nope sorry I hadn't read that far yet before replying. I should really read the entire thread before replying from now on XD It was actually quite humorous lol.

yeah, but I think we conveyed the point(not that I'd mind if we didn't) that rpg != fantasy != whatever you don't like
yeah, but I think we conveyed the point(not that I'd mind if we didn't) that rpg != fantasy != whatever you don't like
these are all different words. lol
yeah, the only real RPG addition is the EXP system, and that doesn't have any skill trees to worry about (yet), even if it does, it would only make doing whatever you want to do easier, people just panic when they have it suggested that they are playing the wrong way (even though this is impossible).
Sadly, noobs think that adding RPG-stuff makes the game not so sandbox, but none of the RPG-features changes or removes ANY sandbox part of the game. You can simply play in peacefull and deactivate strongholds/villages when you make your world, and then you will have exactly an old fashioned alpha-style minecraft.
IMO I'm not as bummed about the plethora of updates that add to the RPG genre, but more that Notch doesn't seem to have any recent updates in improving the old sandbox aspect of Minecraft

I think you conveyed the point fairly well, I just should have continued reading before posting lol. I'm not even sure why people are spazzing about the new features being added, I could understand if you were being forced to use them such as if a storyline was added adn you were forced to do it no matter what but that's not the case. I went for 3 days on 1.9 pre4 before I even ran into anything new, and that was a mamga slime in the nether. I actually had to hunt down a nether stronghold to find a freaking blaze to get a blaze rod adn that took me hours to find one, so they're by no means a common thing that you'll find lying around. So making potions is something you could easily never do by simply never finding a blaze. I had to craft the enchantment table which someone could avoid by not crafting one. And as for the end I had to hunt down a strong hold and slaughter multiple endermen adn blazes to even freaking get there. these thing are all easily avoidable so I don't understand the problem, Before I went hunting for the new stuff and spent hours finding it minecraft just felt like plain old minecrat to me, just with sprinting and a food bar which isn't a big deal, especially considering that most people make a farm at some point or they kill pigs, chickens, or cows too. I don't know, maybe I'm just ignorant as to why people are panicing about the changes.
We dont hate , but dislike the idea of some RPG elements in minecraft , i dont dislike leveling , or experience , with the enchantment system they work well.
But minecraft has never been a game were you upgrade your character other than getting better tools/weapons/armor.
That is why i dislike the idea of more jumping , more speed , more damage , if they are implemented by an unlimited time.
Having it in tools/weapons/armors makes it balanced , because you will eventually lose it , that makes sense , if you an enchantment for unlimited time , then just get all enchantments as fast as you can and play god mode.
Balanace is very important in this game , probably in other games this kind of addition wouldnt matter , but we have to take care of the balance in minecraft , it is more important that what you think.
You are now defending RPG stuff in minecraft , but believe , if it gets added to the vanilla , you will start complaining about it being like an RPG.
You want that because you dont have it and you think it will be better , but it will not .
By RPG you mean FPS hack and slash with no storyline, a few different mob types, no backstory and a randomly generated world?
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Just waiting for Forge to officially release for 1.13.x to remove unneeded mobs from 1.13, like Phantoms, from the game because, in my gameplay based opinion, they add nothing of value to the game.
Fun fact: Clicking a bed every 30 minutes doesn't make you a better player, it makes you one who clicks a bed every 30 minutes. Wouldn't you rather just mod them out of the game completely?
... I don't know, maybe I'm just ignorant as to why people are panicing about the changes.
it's like Joby said, they don't like the suggestion(even if it's only in their own mind) that they are playing wrong.
honestly, nobody really cares how anyone else plays as long as they don't do it together, if you enjoy playing a game in a different way, do it, you don't need to make a thread saying the other ways should be removed or 'toggleable' instead of just freaking optional as they are.

But don't they realize that that kind of diversity in playstyles is why minecraft servers flourish? I mean in singleplayer it's not a big deal how you play or others play and once you're online different playstyles mesh really well. Like for instance on mine and my friends server we've constructed an entire town, one of my friends, we'll call him friend 1, explores to find new locations and mines to gather resources while I tend to the farm and crops as well as gathering lumber and building transcontinental roads and transoceanic bridges so we can get to the locations friend 1 found, while another one of our friends, (friend 2) builds expansions for the town as well as tending the animal farm and the potion brewing for the town, and killing mobs in our giant underground mob spawner, plus enchanting tools for me to use while farming and friend 1 to use while mineing and exploring. and then every once in awhile we all raid the nether or go exploring in a cave or ravine. It ends up being an amazingly well meshed community and that's only with 3 of us not counting our other friends that play less frequently and it's because we're all contributing to a different need of the community but we're all just doing the stuff we enjoy. Change and diversity aren't always a bad thing, sometimes you end up with an incredibly fun well meshed experience.
The KNIGHTS would OF course be THE most dangerous time; we'd miss the OLD REPUBLIC.
(stretch too far? lol)
We should probably stop doing this before someones nervous SYSTEM receives a severe SHOCK 2 it....
yeah you took the only other one I could think of >_<
umm
oh yeah, deus ex, but I really couldn't fit that in a sentence without using it outright which I thought wasn't very clever...
yeah we pretty much derailed the thread a bit..
so yeah, minecraft's fantasy additions aren't making it an rpg.
quite.
lol
though a storyline might, but that's not the part people are actually complaining about.(for the most part)

I see what you did there. :wink.gif:

When did i say that minecraft was an RPG
I was actually saying that if it was a RPG it would suck.
Wanna go back to first grade?
What about adding skills/rpgelements would make the game suck? Honestly?
