does anyone else not like the fact that one of the enchantments allows you to harvest a block as it is, eg. you can harvest a grass block, cobwebs, etc.
no, it would be bad if it were easy to get, it's not.
i made my base next to a surface mob spawner, and have been grinding and enchanting for over 6 hours now, fastest legit way i could think of, and i have not yet seen that enchant appear
and what really is the horror of allowing people to pick up blocks as is?
i would love to be able to grow grass when i move it, or find the super rare mushroom biome and grow a tiny piece of it at my base(i tried cheating it in and the unique mobs did NOT spawn)
personally i have wet dreams of making walkways out of redstone ORE, that way the path would light up as i walk along it
again, cheating in redstone ore to do that just breaks the immersion, it's not fun..
of course allowing people to pick up and move things like mob spawners would be and hey, guess what,
there are rumors going all over that that will no longer be possible, next patch
but it removes the skill in moving grass, making mob systems (because you can harvest spawners.)
skill in moving grass?
you mean making a relitively straight path?
and you only get pig spawners, also... you don't freaking start with it or anything, it's one of the most rare enchantments, you've spent a lot, being able to better master your world is what Minecraft's about.
The system is fine. Eventually XP will be easier to get and there will be more enchants. Don't forget that fishing poles, flint and steel and bows aren't enchantable right now either. I'm pretty sure they're only getting started.
Without making any major changes to the system. I could see it ending up where it takes you less time for a higher level enchant. Then there will be more enchants available, so in general you're happier with what you get.
Plus, you can pretty much guess the system will be tweaked to produce more even results. Don't forget, this is the first prerelease with it.

just had a thought...
flint and steel
with aqua affinity...
currently if u want to get better levels of sharpness etc u need to place book shelves around the enchantment table so it can take the letters from the books and make it higher.the more book shelves in its vicinity the more affixes u can get and the more powerfull it is
