Ok. GTFO. Now. You miss the 'Old' Minecraft. Last time I checked, beta 1.3_01 was NOT old. I joined in alpha, so stop complaining, and again, GTFO if you don't like the updates. We all wait for the moment a new update comes. So. Again. Like before. And I say it again. GTFO. Newb.
Ah, the days of alpha. Remember when we couldn't crouch?

Please learn how to use google. My grandfather knows how to, I think you can too.
The game should work without mods. People who say "use a mod" are ignorant in not considering the problems other people might have with them. People don't want to use mods because the game works without them. You don't have to wait between updates or worry about malicious code on your machine if you don't use mods. If you use a mod, your at the mercy of the modder not putting a virus in it. And that HAS been done before.
Well, for one the hunger system forces you to play by those rules. You CAN'T play the old way any more. It's a lie to say otherwise.
You can't play the old way because the game has changed. As you can see, an overwhelming number of people like the change. If you don't like the hunger then you can always play on peaceful or creative.

A large number of forum goers maybe. The entire minecraft userbase isn't people on this forum, don't make statements you can't prove.

WOW is an MMO and minecraft seem to be turning into an awesome dungeon crawler adventure game. there is a difference, there is no real role playing in this game and it's still about survival. there is still building and mods, there are just a lot more awesome things to do.
Ok, I read your entire post, and my reaction is still, "I'm tired of this crap! I hate seeing all these complaints!"
The game isn't becoming "World of Minecraft," it's becoming Minecraft. What you miss is an unfinished foundation of a game, not the complete game. If you pre-purchased (not bought, PRE-PURCHASED) the game under the assumption that it would not evolve and change during the development process, then you were kidding yourself. If I were you, I'd do myself a favor and ask the mods to delete this topic, now, because you have nothing new to say that hasn't been said in a dozen other topics.
The poll is also kind of pointless. Just like all the others, you're going to find maybe 10-15% of the people who look at your topic will agree with you while the rest won't.
Yes let's all petition for minecraft to go back to it's first beta release when Mac users had problems logging on. When there was a working item dupe glitch. When we all witnessed the first time Minecraft had tooltips. When SMP servers were basically unplayable. And when Notch had announced Lanterns, then realized he couldn't. Ah... Yes the good ol' days.
Nothing has been removed from Minecraft, only added. If you don't like the new features, DON'T USE THEM.
How hard is that for you people to comprehend?
Sorry, but you seem to forget that INSTANT HEALING WITH FOOD WAS TURNED OFF, and YOU NEARLY DIE IF YOU DON'T EAT. Your group seems to be the ones who don't comprehend that, and they can't even admit it.
The majority of minecraft players dont care enough to register only about 800,000(on the forum) and about half that number follow notch on twitter
I don't see how that's an idiot reaction. I was only stating how the fact any percentage of people here may agree with something, does not mean that the same percentage of people agree among the entire minecraft fanbase. Before you call someone an idiot, please increase your intuitive abilities so that you notice simple things like that.
It's so sad that this forum is entirely unmoderated.

Technically you still heal with food, the process though is slightly different.
There's just a whole lot of new stuff distracting you from seeing it. YES, the hunger meter and the paristent animels/breeding have changed the fundamentals, but it's not that different. And the potions and stuff are all optional BTW, so you can't complain about that (you can even turn off those pesky villages!).
I think the problem you, and a lot of others have is a severe case of nostalgia.
Let me explain:
I got this game a year ago, pre-biomes. I loved it. I loved travelling this strange world, discovering things, and feeling like a true explorer of a new world...
Now though? I don't feel that way. And NOT because of new features. It's because I have explored minecraft...I have gotten used to it. The newness has faded. I no longer take days to slowly explore and watch the moon and sun rise. I go straight for the iron/diamond/lava in my mines, and I go hardcore into that. I spend more time underground than above, only surfacing to chop down my tree farm and work on my house. Why? Because that's the most efficient thing to do!
So the problem...is that you have gotten too used to minecraft. You have explored all there is to see, and it has become second nature to you. And these new additions conflict with your previous experience, so even though they are optional, they still feel jarring.
At least, that's my take on it. Personally, I'm gonna deal with (and probably love) all the new stuff because more stuff in the game means more things to do aside from mine nonstop until I feel like working on a "project".

I agree, (never said I didn't like hunger).
I just think people need to stop being condescending in the way they post on this forum. People have a right to their opinions, and people need to treat each-other's opinions as opinions, not truth or falsity. And people need to stop overshadowing simple facts to try and "prove" an agrument which doesn't hold up after the facts are laid down.

It's true, but now you have to eat food or you take damage. You can't just "not use food".
I don't like that not eating can cause you to take damage, but it isn't difficult to kill an animal and cook it for food. It's a bit of a pain, but not game-breaking.

Yes, but some people may have sat in mines all day long, and only visited the surface once in a blue moon, or in a castle, etc. That is why these people do not like the update.

I understand, though I'd tell them to prepare beforehand. If by Survival notch meant being able to survive without any sustenance while exploring, he probably would have never implemented this system. It makes sense in the grand scheme of things, as annoying as it may be. Then again, mining all day 'n' night shouldn't be the cause of the distress, same as you can't stay in water too long or you will drown, this allows the survival element to pervade into all aspects whether it be mining, underwater, or in a castle.

On the flip side, those of us who like the creator of the game's ideas shouldn't need mods to play the game like he intended it to be played, no? Use your brain and go through proper sites that check mods for viruses before posting them up.
Second, potions will not be a must have like people are saying, he said there could be thousands of recipes, and you do understand that 'potion of fire resist' has multiple levels, making it multiple recipes right? You will be able to play the game 100% without potions, without issue.

about 5%
And if 60% of people go to church, and 99% of those people believe in god, it doesn't speak for the whole country.

It's a fundamental part of the game now that Notch has stated he plans to add 1000+ recipes, it's pretty hard to not use it.
It's like saying that you don't like swords, and then someone replies "don't use swords"
It's called a bow.
^^idiot reaction congratulations.
