Ow. That got to hurt. Well my story of the Nether isn't as bad as the one in the thread, Well, I was in the Nether too,but not in Hardcore (Luckily :tongue.gif:). Anyways I was mining into the netherrack till I fell into the lava an died and lost my half of my inventory. T_T
yeah hardcore just made this game 100x more intense and fun
I'm way too terrified to go mining; i just go half way and chicken out when i hear zombies or see creepers lol.
a creeper blew up near me and took me down to half a heart of health while i was in the woods; i immediately turned the game off because i was too scared lol
I just lost my world to a cave spider. I successfully killed 6 of the fiends, then took out the spawner. Was running for a hidey hole to regenerate when the last one ninja'd off a ledge. And I'd gotten attached to that world already. :sad.gif:
I fell off my SkyBlock challenge island and airwalked over to the water column from my cobble generator and swam back up it before I touched the void. I didn't die.
Oh, wait... this thread is about dying, isn't it. My bad.

That is a hard challenge man. I managed to fall from that damn thing so many times, some of them I did save myself though.
I eventually completed the challenge, save for two things: Wheat farm and bread. I did not know that bonemeal on dirt was not the same as bonemeal on grass. So since I didn't save any grass I couldn't get seeds. However since I was playing in 1.9 which puts you in a snow biome and had to contend with the damn snow destroying stuff (glitch?) I figured INVediting a grass block would be fair.
Seriously, 10x harder to do that challenge in the snow, the water wants to freeze, and if you don't place a block above plants/ torches the snow will destroy them.
went underground, through some epic ravines, mineshafts and caves, found my firsts diamonds, then some more, and some more... thought to myself "this is weird... something bad will happen" and before collecting it i secured the area, one creeper came out of the darkness when he thought i was going to get the diamond - gotcha! Collected the diamonds, enough for a full set now, time to head back... creeper on my face... he was not coming to me, he was already here, about to blow. I didnt react, I saw my (not so long) life flash before my eyes. Luckly i was with full iron armor, and healthy and survived...
I started my first hardcore game and found myself in a massive snowy wasteland, with less features than a desert. There were about 3 trees within draw distance. So I treked on out and managed to find a few more trees, harvested them all, then came across a massive sinkhole in the ground (it went down about 40 levels or so, and was more or less circular). I decided to build my house there, but due to lack of materials I had to build a little hole in the dirt. I had to burn some of my hard found wood to make my first torches (shortly after nightfall, too :sad.gif:).
One of the trees I discovered the next morning had a bit of tall grass underneath it...great success! Except I only got one seed from it. I proceeded to build my house, harvest all the trees and replant the saplings, built a small farm, started wrangling animals into pens, and eventually had a 2 story homestead. After one horrible blizzard (I didn't realize they destroyed crops, and I was too amazed at the blizzard weather to notice...ONE tile of wheat survived), I discovered pumpkins! That led to the death of about four sentry snowmen at the hands of skeleton archers and one at the hands of a creeper, which almost led to my death as I fell out of my chair laughing at how long it took the creeper to fight its way through the hail of snowballs.
I explored the sinkhole, there were 3 different cavern systems that the sinkhole went through. One of the middle ones emptied into the bottom of a massive ravine that I decided to explore. I mine/torch out the bottom, find a waterfall from the top level and use that as a water elevator to start mining out the ridges higher up. Most of the way through mining them out, a sniper skeleton manages a perfect shot and nails me in the face just as I'm rounding a corner...I fall about 8 stories and land two squares away from lava with one heart left. Note to self: make a bow. In the bottommost one - after about a dozen terrifying moments with paratrooping creepers - I hit diamonds! Hooray! I headed back up, made some iron armor, a diamond sword, and a stack of arrows, and was ready for my first trip into the new Nether.
Luckily, my Nether portal was pretty close to a Nether fortress. My first blaze generator was pretty exciting; there were zero until I was about halfway done breaking it, then three of them spawned and unloaded into my face. I backed off, broke line of sight, and started sniping them down. After a few minutes, the generator was dead and I had new blaze rods. The second blaze generator I found was easier, only one spawned at a time. At this point, I was feeling pretty boss.
The third blaze generator had a small pack of zombie pigmen around it. I figured this would be fine; I'm a pro, I can't miss with arrows. Well, my second shot missed and nailed a pigman. Hooray. I fight a retreat, loosing arrows at the farther ones and knocking back others while blazes chase after me and fill my retreat path with fire. I finally finish off the pigmen and strafe out the blazes, and take a quick rest to get some more health and let my pulse return to normal. I'm sitting at about 3 hearts at this point, despite full iron armor. At this point, I'm tempted to pause the game to fire up memegenerator so I can visually represent how awesome I am.
Suddenly, about 5 zombie pigmen land on top of my head from a platform above me, instantly killing me with their gold swords of doom. Fantastic.
hehe, hardcore or no, always back up your saves. I do every so often, so that I could go back if one gets corrupted, but it would be too much of a setback to do it if I died - that is, I'd be frustrated about losing progress to level corruption, but it'd be worth it to continue with the world. But death? Meh, them's the breaks, might as well start over. Basically, I get way less ragey if it's my fault, than if the game screwed it up.
Dang. I've died that way myself a few times. Not in hardcore-mode, but holding alot of stuff. I lost my first hardcore world because when smelting in my regular world, I've grown accustomed to alt-tabbing while opening the character screen (so the game doesn't pause, and my smelting continues in the background). I came back to being dead. :angry.gif:
Hardcore mode rocks. Makes death something to be afraid of, and makes every achievment and every finished construction that much more rewarding.
I've currently got a very comfy house, workshop, and feild and farm running now, and an extinsive underground ravine mostly conquered. My next test is the Nether, however I cant find any diamond.
Oh and poison spiders are frightening on hardcore mode.
You can not imagine all the stupid ways I have died....
This. I seem to croak more to misfortune than anything "skill" related.
List of ways I've destroyed worlds:
* Accidentally sprinted off a cliff (REALLY NEED AN EFFING KEY INSTEAD OF DOUBLETAP FORWARD GUYS!)
* The cursed "I swear I was pressing shift"
* The shifting sand drop (holding shift near an edge, dropping a sand / gravel block, and you where just a micrometer on said block and go down with it)
* the lava drop
* the "oh gosh, there's lava on the other side of this block"
* the creeper you swear wasn't there a second ago
You know you want it...

Running around like crazy, I found my first EVER spider jockey.
The thing was easy to kill because it was stuck halfway in leaves.
Spawned over a thousand foot cliff.
I really liked that map too

What's the point? Just to do it?

... later my world corrupted.

At least I got about 550 points!

--edit--
And so far I still havent died yet XD
I have the fix: go on to another one of your worlds and check if it's on peaceful. If it is, change it and go back to your world.

Every one made me chuckle and start over.
