I figured I would try a HARDCORE game. I always thought the idea of playing a properly challenging one-shot would be fun. It is fun. It is also a bit nutz! :wink.gif:
You see, I have several children, and my youngest is 3 years old. She is a character, as most kids are at that age. This of course means that she can be bit distracting. Perhaps I should have thought of that, when I jumped into my Hardcore game... oops. :wink.gif:
Well, here is how things went, if you would like to know.
I started in a nice and rocky pine forest next to a desert. Good place. Lots of trees, a bit of grass, a couple cows. I even started at the top of a nice little knoll.
First day, I built a little outpost (house). Piece of cake. Done it before. I could have been blindfolded.
Next day. Kills a couple cows. Yum!
A day or two later and I have done some scouting and a bit of digging. Started a little mine. Built defenses around my little outpost. Killed off three creepers. No problem.
Then I dig my mine a little deeper. Underground Ravine! Huge! Wow! Now things are getting exciting. So, I take a little time figuring out how to build a ladder down the side without plummeting to my death. I manage it. I used over 30 ladders. It is huge.
I notice at one end that there are cobwebs and an abandoned mineshaft down one end of the Ravine. I get curious. My first mistake. To be clear, I had only found 4 iron ore by this point, so I was working with no armor, a stone sword, and no bow (I have not even seen a spider yet). I figure, I will just check it out... not go in... just get closer... maybe get a couple cobwebs for string.
So my 3-year old gets tired of the show she was watching, and comes to visit me. She is playful. I probably should have hung up the game at that point. Nope. I am just not that bright. :wink.gif:
I am slowly but confidently walking along the bottom of the ravine. Placing torches. Checking my corners for trouble. I hear the breeze in the cave. Eerie. My daughter wants my attention. I tickle her. She has great timing! :wink.gif:
Stone wall, about two high. I jump. It is dark on the other side. Nothing to see. I cut it down to one high. A creeper stares at me on the other side. He waves. SIZZLE!
AAK! Backup, backup, backup.... BOOM! My daughter jumps at the sound. Then giggles.
1 heart of damage... Whew! Lucky plus quick reactions.
Do I turn back? No, of course not. Far be it for me to do the smart thing.
I hop the wall and walk a few more feet. I am under one of the entrances to the abandoned mine. I look around. I do not see any threats.
My daughter wants my attention again. She grabs at my mouse-hand. Distracted for just a split second.
CREEPER! I jump. Startled. I grab for my mouse... FAIL. My view spins in circles. The Creeper spins past. I am trying to back up... against the WALL. AAK! Creeper spins past my screen flashing white... SIZZLE... BOOM!
LOL
my 6 year old brother nearly got me killed, he was watching and there were like three creepers and he got excited so he leaned on my arm which pulled the mouse leaving me looking straight in the sky, quickly reoriented and got away with 2 hearts. lol the I was smart enough to head back to base and fool around with my chickens for a while x]

GAME OVER.
A little girl giggles.

I don't keep worlds around for very long. Wouldn't need distractions to end it for me.
