I don't think I could care less about this mode. I still don't have the game but I'm hoping to have it eventually (soon if I can), but I can tell you right now, I'm not interested at all on this mode, it's just boring :/ more for some other kind of game, but not for minecraft, it just doesn't suit this game.
I'm definitely down for it. Any old school Rogue players out there will get a feeling of nostalgia playing hardcore mode. Sometimes I feel like Minecraft is kind of a 3D Rogue game... which I like a lot.
am I the only one that would really try it?
just for a random world in single player, i mean just to do something different :tongue.gif: playing safe instead of dropping yourself into huuge dark holes with just a pickaxe
I am going to play on hardcore all the time, that is how I would enjoy the game the most. Right now it gets way to old specially when nothing really happens when you die. Playing a survival world when it is close to real life would be something I enjoy. This game went from something I did not like to much, into something I am starting to enjoy. (started at 1.7.3)
This is probably the best feature I have seen in MineCraft :biggrin.gif:
yeah, I guess, I spend a lot of time spectating on my own server already haha
but like I said, it's not so fun to watch your friends have fun without you, with strangers, or a really large group it might be ok, but when it's just like 5 people (my server has around 5 people at any time) it just feels lame to not participate.
My server has 3 people on it and none of us participate 90% of the time.. but when we do things happen.
LOL
monsters too op?
lmfao
omg
I just can't
hahahaha ouch, no, my side >_<
@Valiant_Hogers:
I'm sure you could do the same thing as you can with creative and survival modes, but you're 100% missing the point of hardcore in the first place...
I dont see myself playing the hardcore mode , atleast not on Single player , however , it would be cool to try it in SMP , i want notch to make it so if you lose in SMP you will get banned of the server until a new world is generated.
I want to make survival contests with my friends.
But i am not stupid to make a hardcore map in single player.
Okay , finally i made with DIAMOND TOWER , it took me like 10 years to gather all that , but atleast now i can say i finished , 100% LEGIT diamond house , now , i am going to look it from other angle , ssss...
NOOO , F*******CK!!!!! AAAAAHHHHH , 10 YEARS OF MY F*CKING LIFE WASTED , NOOOO NOOOOOOOO AAAAAAAH , AAAAHHHHHH
*goes to the forum to complain*
Lol i think that would bea great plugin or something for a hardcore server!
Hahaha xD I hope you're referring to how easy they are to defeat? Hardcore mode will only truly be for people that don't find default minecraft a challenge. It's actually a bit too easy right now.
And to all the people who honestly think it's a waste of time: it's a challenge to see how far you can go. Creating a huge village and surviving in it would feel way more satisfying. Saying that hardcore mode is a waste of time is like saying any zombie survival game is a waste of time. Minecraft just has a creative aspect to it. It is SURVIVAL mode after all. Go play creative/peaceful if you don't want your precious buildings deleted just because you were a risky idiot and let yourself get killed. If you take all the necessary precautions then you would be fine anyways. Some people assume that they can just build in the dark and not expect to be killed... What do you expect from kids anyways?
So Hardcore mode is coming out. Are you in? Or are you CHICKEN. Or pig if you prefer.
I've played this way before with self enforced deletion. I actually got bored before I died. Maybe having the xp and a scoreboard would make it more appealing and challenging.

More Ocean Life: Kelp, Coral, Crabs and Jellyfish; Coconut Palm trees for beaches and islands. Terrain Generation Changes: Which biomes and world-building features are most in need of change?
Hardcore mode is great for adventure maps or challenges, not regular play. Losing the world on death, without a goal is just lame IMHO.

Custom paintings! My latest project, still in BETA.
A small mod to improve your game, but keeping the vanilla flavour. For Minecraft 1.8.
Also check out my Redstone Jukebox mod, now updated to Minecraft 1.7.10!

Surely you take regular backups of your single player minecraft saves folder? If you die, just restore it!
Although, restoring from a backup does defeat the purpose of hardcore mode...
Never said anything about them being too hard or too easy you smart-arses :smile.gif:
But it's obvious that they are imbalanced.
Zombies are the typical guys that don't have any special ability or gimmicks, and come in a discount of three-pack, except they don't.
Then you have skeletons, probably the strongest mob in the game, that have the identical spawn ratio of zombies and shoot almost unavoidable projectiles that hit as hard as zombies do. Oh and obviously they also are as though as their melee counterpart.
Does this look balanced to you ? And these are just the first 2 mobs...
How can you make a mode like hardcore and keep things like this in the game ? Personally i don't understand it.
( Oh and i kinda played diablo2 in hc for quite sometime so it's not like i don't even know what's the feeling involved in that )
lmao I'm sorry, when people in this forum say unbalanced it usually means 'it's too hard!' Personally I see no problem with the mobs balance, I think zombies should spawn more and in groups, but skeletons are fairly easy to deal with, creepers that fall off ledges behind you are the most annoying to me.
most of my deaths are creeper/falls, most of them were not in anyway caused by skeletons or zombies, so maybe they could be buffed a little, but I don't think they need to be, zombies and skeletons serve different roles, they're not equal in any sense and they really couldn't be.

Yeah, I don't see anything really wrong with zombies and skeletons. If anything they are a bit too dumb and could use a buffin'. The only things that really kill me are the occasional creeper (if I'm being stupid and risky) or the shift button failing to sneak me on an edge (hardware issue most likely?).

Lol I have no clue, but I was pushed off ledges so many times last night playing with someone else, I swear I pressed shift half the time but she pushed me over like... 6 really far drops. It's ok though, I always survived. and then she took the safe way down and ends up getting mobbed by cave spiders x] they're not as cool as silverfish, but they're a close second in terms of 'fun' for me.
Yeah this will be pretty fun to play. It's interesting to see how people, and myself, will play differently when the threat of world deletion hangs over our head. we will most likely take less risks and bring all our good gear wherever we go. rather than banking the good stuff in case we die, because if we die, that's it.
I'm still curious if Hardcore will only be a toggle on world creation, and if so, does normal difficulty rules still apply. Like is it possible to play Hardcore mode on Peaceful/Easy/Normal/Hard.
