I'm not being a perv or anything, I just thought maybe they would go behind a bush or something, and how do we know the animal is pregnant? Or will the baby just plop out? Will the sheep make a nest and brush pillows like dogs?
I hope they make them be pregnant first because Mojng already implemented my sword charge idea maybe they'll consider my pregnant animals idea too harhar
Notch said "no. not even remotely." http://twitter.com/#!/notch He responds to CaptainOhYea on twitter with this.
And if you wont have animations, I doubt you'll get this. Not a hint of it.
Wait did I get this right? ALL animals even mammals lay eggs????........ ok.
From the sounds of it (and if you look at the early screenshot Notch posted) it looks like he did that to avoid a latency issue and problem controlling the animal population. If you let them constantly breed, you'll have an overflow of animals, but if you need eggs... then the player controls the amount of animals are around.
It might sound weird, but from a pure gaming perspective it sounds like a good way to keep performance in check.
Since it's Minecraft I assume a new animal will instantly pop into existence next to the parents.
Or, you know. Eggs.
(it's not really going to be eggs btw)
Eggs are funnier, and easier to transport. Go eggs!

More Ocean Life: Kelp, Coral, Crabs and Jellyfish; Coconut Palm trees for beaches and islands. Terrain Generation Changes: Which biomes and world-building features are most in need of change?
I support eggs for easy transportation. But from what we have seen, what will happen is under the right circumstances, hearts will appear above the animal's heads and either instantly or after a short period a new one will spawn.

just let the number of animals be based on the chunk they are in.. like say 5 per chunk (maybe more) if the animals walk off, they more can spawn, and it's all based on the size of the pen.

They took 40 blocks. That’s as many as four tens. And that’s horrible.

Don't like the egg idea.
You'd have to be on something to make the weird monstrosities in minecraft..
