Please, just take our suggestions and fix what needs to be fixed instead of moving on to other things to add and simply leaving them in the dust in an unpolished state.
At this rate minecraft will become a cluster**** of...well...everything.
This is definitely worth waiting for seasons, probably a highly suggested suggestion that I hope you two are planning. C:
think about it, the swamps barely look like swamps, the NPCs are near useless, the snow "golems" are somewhat neat but completely out of place, and as of this moment Experience has zero purpose.
If they're going to add something to the game they shouldn't just leave it alone in an incomplete state and move on. I totally agree with what they're adding and that they fit with minecraft's style but they seem to prioritize the amount of content over whether or not the said content actually works to it's fullest potential.
We already knew the general amount of things that were planned for the game to make it Notch's idea of the 'definitive Minecraft'. It's good now but it isn't everything it could be. I understand you feel that so many things are being added at once that the game's performance might suffer but I'm sure they've got it under control. They wouldn't add what they couldn't handle, and if they did they would probably remove it and maybe add it back in one of the post-release updates.

Hell NO. More content is what we NEED people. We can fix the bugs as we go, chill, Technically no one has the right to complain about bugs, not even I, since this is a beta. Not even truly done.
More content = Deeper Game = Good

I don't know about not adding any new content at all, but I do think most of the production time should focus on bug fixes from here on out. The more content that gets added, the more bugs there are to fix. The full game is supposed to be released in less than two months, and if Mojang continue to add new content the likelihood of fixing even the majority of bugs by then is slim.
So I would argue for a mix, but definitely very heavy on the bug fixes and light on the new content.
Notch is adding new features in order to make modding easier. Also, there is no gaurantee all the bugs are supposed to be gone by full release.
How exactly do you get the idea adding new features makes modding easier? A modding API would make modding easier. Adding new features would either have no benefit to modding or make it more difficult by creating more code to sift through.
The content that is being added is good. It's just not as over the top as some of the mods. Notch and Jeb try to add balanced content to the game and leaves the radical stuff to the modders. They want the Vanilla to be just that, Vanilla.

Slimeballs were useless...They became useful after...what...a year? Not everything has to have a purpose yet. Give it a patch or two, and everything will be polished up nicely.
Edit: And besides obvious bugs in 1.9pre, since it is, well, a beta of a beta, what major bugs are there in 1.8?
Not sure, torn between more content and fixing bugs.
I think that content should be turned down a notch for awhile while some major bugs are being fixed.
I don't mind more content, but bugs need to get fixed as they appear. We don't need another 1.6 i.e. 100 bugs get fixed at once, and a thousand more pop up.

This is pretty much what I'm saying. 2012 makes a valid point but slime balls was one thing people were able to live with - here we have all of this random **** we were waiting for but it has little purpose. The nether is good though, in my opinion, nothing needs to be changed there, but the things I've mentioned already definitely need polishing because they'd probably make minecraft a better experience for a lot of people.
If Mojang released an entire beta update with ONLY bug fixes, do you know what would happen?
The forums would erupt into a rage, over how Notch is a lazy ass for not adding new content.
Swamps barely look like swamps? Sounds like someone doesn't know what a swamp looks like. I live about 5 minutes from one. I'd say it's a good representation.

perhaps they should only promise things that they can add and refine in the amount of time given? by given I mean expected to be finished/patched.
But slimeballs were just one example. What about pumpkins? Eggs? Reeds(and books, for that matter)? Or the whole nether, for that case? There were tons of things that were pretty pointless until notch added them in later.

PlanetSide 2 Megathread because why not?
