I think that they might be a bit unbalanced, being able to receive infinite mushroom soup from them, and then when you're done, you can shear them for mushrooms to grow into giant mushrooms.
Basically, once you've found the biome, you've got easy infinite food.
This is why I'm planning several new (not so cute and cuddly) mobs for that biome in a future Biome Overhaul...
You already have easy infinite food anyway. Our chicken coop is usually busting at the seams, our melon patch produces more than we can eat, (out of 5 original seeds) and once we get animal breeding, unlimited pork and beef. (We are running the bucket version of 1.8.1 currently on our server.)

lol yeah there are a lot of ways to easily get food in minecraft now :tongue.gif:
I find it very interesting idea to have this bizaare and and almost icky isolated islands of mycelium, fungus and mushrooms. I hope it's gonna be a place where strange ingredients can be found and it should have more unique creatures. Giant slugs for example. I think the water should have a special look just like swamp and have some unpleasant effect on the player, making him dizzy or something. :smile.gif:
I thought mushroom biomes were pretty silly when they were first announced, but I really like them now that I've had a chance to retexture them and make them look less red and depressing. :biggrin.gif:
If anyone is interested, here are some screenshots of what I've done with the mushroom biome. Maybe this will show you guys the kinda of potential they have as exotic building areas. ^^
I liked how the game before was a SIMULATOR type game, it was a vast open world you explored and made your own but now its like its all being generated for you. With the norm biomes and all it seemed like real survival other than creeprs
now its just confusing and getting a little stupid

but these biomes are really rare. you deserve a if you find one without a seed :unsure.gif:
Maybe if they added something more to it... A new type of building block that exists only there or a hard mob that spawns and stays only in these biomes...
ikr, like some sort of special dungeon with a boss monster...
I'm planning on finding a mushroom biome, running a dirt bridge from the biome over to my base, and building an underground mushroom farm. Hopefully mooshrooms will spawn down there as well.
I doubt this will work, I noticed that once swamp water crosses a biome it changes to normal water. You may end up with normal grass as it leaves the biome.
