I would prefer it if all mobs (except skeletons for obvious reasons) were able to get infected ( and reverted )
Also I seriously hope they add some strange behaviour to it, like "Mob gets infected -> after some time it stops moving -> at some point it explodes to spore dust and generates some new Shroom-Biome". Creepers produce lots of new shroom-biome :laugh.gif:
I know this sounds kinda ridiculous, but actually this would add some realism, as there are some Fungi which are capable of that (Read on your own discretion, that's really creepy :laugh.gif:) :
I will miss your valuable insight in my efforts to understand exactly why a cow with mushrooms growing off it is in any way shape or form a useful addition to minecraft when we already have cows and we already have mushrooms, both in plentiful quantities.
It provides an interesting exploration goal that is somewhere out in the ocean rather than deep underground, furthering the explorative nature of Minecraft. Mooshrooms also provide a bit of unique utility in allowing them to be 'milked' for mushroom soup. It also provides a goal for some players of getting mooshrooms/the dirt blocks back to their base through creative construction and herding.
Terraria feelings.
Not that im complayning about it, but at least it could be some other color than purple. Like orange or something.
Anyway, i like the ideia of a non-sense biome. But maybe it lacks something special, the same way the nether lacks something usefull. I mean, the game dont really give us a reason why we should go to nether, nor to explore different biomes (and i believe this is more of an issue when talking about the nether, anyway).
i think the new biome is good but it does need to be more/a bit more common coz out of about 20 worlds ive only found it once. also i dont like hopw if u shear a mooshroom u get 2 cows.
I think their rarity is fine. It's a very bizzare biome compared to most of the ones in the natural world. Having their frequency increased could dramatically change the balance of fantasy/realism. They might even be more appropriate to the Nether, which has a rather boring landscape pallette.

Well its a whole new biome, so there should be more than just mooshroom and weird looking blocks. What about a new mineral or something else?
The biomes have always been about what is on the surface. The closest thing to an exception would be deserts, being covered in sand, but the sand is just on the surface.
The thing that seems lacking from Mushroom biomes is a moderate height type of foliage. I think block high mycelial tentrils could fit into that niche, simulating the presence of ferns and tall grass in other biomes.

I feel very excited whenever I see 'half-assed' updates because it would usually mean that more updates will come and give it more 'flavour', such as the nether.
But the problem is mushroom stew in itself isn't practical anymore. It heals the same as steak and porkchops, but it doesn't stack. Now if you are okay with that, then it is a good alternative to steak and porkchops. At least until breeding comes out, cows and pigs also become a renewable resource, making mushroom stew even worse of an option.
Now if a way could be figured out to stack mushroom stew without causing issue, then it would be much more viable as an option again. But till then, it's not really a good choice and so mushroom harvesting in itself is redundant.
Of course I'm not okay with that, that's the very problem I was talking about (although I did not realize mushroom soup healed for as much as pork, which makes it even worse). What was once a rare treat is now common and inferior to other foods, and the biome that produces it is, by extension, useless. Neat, like I said, but useless.
I think what needs to happen first is for mushrooms to not be bonemealable anymore -- because right now mushrooms are ridiculously easy to obtain, which belittles the mushroom biome -- but the soup itself will also need a buff of some sort. It's not enough for it to provide more food per bite than other foods, because then you have to wait until long after you've stopped regenerating to eat if you don't want to waste it.
Wait a second, those cows look like cyclopes, I thought they looked like cows, not cyclopes.
The cyclops look is the result of a texture pack.

If there was some way to get wood and was more accessible/common, it would be much better. Something like a nearby island with a tree or two would be sufficient.

M'thinks that's a bug. I've sheared them before and it didn't happen to me.
It gets a result.

it has more content than the other biomes... do you think we should remove them, then?
Riiiight...
Even though skeletons were added in survivaltest in 09, Before terraria was even in the planning stage...
