Eggs are good. All species have eggs.
But all mobs eggs should have the same look!
We are going to have very funny days with chests full of eggs and knowing not which one is cow's or creeper's.
Especially if breeding can happen without our intervention in the wild. Imagine just walking along and finding an egg on the ground. You take it, thinking it'll be a nice little kick to your farm's output. You plop it down in the egg section and go out adventuring. When you return, there's a little creeper amongst your sheep!
Actually, y'know what'd be even more cruel? If eggs of aggressive mobs hatched into mob spawners of that type instead. Imagine coming back to find a creeper spawner!

Make note: I generally avoid being insulting. If I sound insulting, I'm probably joking.
I think the egg idea could be an elegant solution solution to the potential overpopulation problem. One alternative to eggs is when animals mate, they create another animal almost immediately, and we all saw what that amounted to.
One nice feature with eggs is that they despawn if the player doesn't pick them up in time. Perhaps the player has to take eggs into their inventory to continue the breeding cycle. This could solve the overpopulation problem. I'm not saying it's necessarily the best solution, but I believe it get the job done well. Need more cows? Go to your cow pasture and pick up the eggs on the ground. Do whatever it takes to hatch them and boom, more cows. Quick, unobtrusive, simple. I like it.
I actually kinda want eggs because watching animals getting it on and then the female giving birth is kinda sick and something that a kid should'nt see and baby animals just appearing out of no where is just like them spawning so I dont see any better way of them implementing it into the game.
1. Please edit your post because complaints hold no merrit if they mangle the language they are written in.
2. Chicken eggs are good but no mammals should lay eggs, make the breeding like Baby Animals.
Platypus. Case closed. "No mammal should lay eggs" except that at least one already does. I think there may actually be at least one more that does, but I can't remember and don't feel like looking it up.
I don't really want baby animals, unless they impliment a leash or something so we can move the damned things around. Now that they don't de/respawn you don't always run into any given animal type. I don't want to have to search across several biomes to finally find some cows or pigs or breed.
The Platypus doesn't count as it is nothing more than an amalgam of spare animal parts :tongue.gif:
Tho the males are venomous and they do posses one of the most interesting venoms on the planet.... which also seems to be an amalgam of arbitrary venoms from various species.... but I digress.
I just really really really hope this egg thing is all rumor and no substance ~.~
I cant believe how offended you got by animals laying eggs lol. Like someone else said, they cant let the animals start going to town in an E rated video game. If this is gonna be the thing that makes or breaks the game for you, I'm sorry =p
As long as there is a reasonable mechanism for farming animals, I don't really care how it's represented. Eggs or hearts or baw-chika-waw-waw humping -- whatever -- I just want to be able to be able to repopulate my pigs, cows, sheep, etc.
I'd seriously consider allowing us to be able to craft a lasso, that lets us drag animals into corrals where they can be kept. If there are more than 2 animals of the same kind in the same corral, they have a chance to breed. It could be just that simple.
( No, the fishing rod isn't getting the job done, I want a real lasso :smile.gif:
I'm crossing my fingers that the baby animals will come out of the eggs. It would be silly if fully grown animals came out of eggs :tongue.gif:

Brings new meaning to the term 'cow punching'.
Imagine this bad boy full of cow eggs:

I'm quite happy with idea of two animals, hearts, PooF! three animals.
Don't really need baby animals .... tho minecraft chicks would likely be adorable.
