I definitely agree with you. I too don't complain much, but just imagine a cow egg! Just a tad too far! I think notch is trying to make things too complex, and he should just keeps things simple. Let the animals mate at the most and that's it.
How is an egg too complex? Thats like saying the chicken farming system is complex. It's far simpler for an animal to just lay an egg than for you to have to feed them, and then wait for them to breed, and then raise the baby and finally slaughter them. I'd rather the chicken approach taken for all passive mobs as its quick and simple.
Eggs are a great idea. have you ever thought it's a way to find rare monsters in dungeon chests? or would you rather find a fetus, then have to find a female version of the animal and implant it into its womb? I think the only one here that is an idiot is the person who cares SOOO much that animals will breed from eggs
Eggs are good. All species have eggs.
But all mobs eggs should have the same look!
We are going to have very funny days with chests full of eggs and knowing not which one is cow's or creeper's.
You know that every living thing comes from some sort of egg right, Just because a baby is INSIDE the mother doesnt mean it is not in a form of an egg.
Besides I like this approach, think about it, instead of having cows/pigs/sheep ect always multiplying, you can controll it better.
Imagin if chicken didnt lay eggs but created another chicken instead, you'd end up with so many your game would freeze.
At the same time, it means you HAVE to be involved in their multiplication. Some people might not like that sort of micromanagement.
Can you imagine how tasty pig eggs would be if they existed? I mean and egg that would come from the same animal that produces the "holy grail" of meats known as bacon?! Tastebuds would be blown awaayyy!
Notch.. make this happen. All in the name of tasty deliciousness.

No it doesn't. There can be some % chance for the eggs to hatch automatically, if the local populaiton is below #. We need some kind of counter to the activity of wild wolves.

1. Please edit your post because complaints hold no merrit if they mangle the language they are written in.
2. Chicken eggs are good but no mammals should lay eggs, make the breeding like Baby Animals.

Are you suggesting the animal husbandry feature involves diving into cow wombs and messing with their bovine ovaries to force conception?
Hell yeah! Cow dimension, were there are cow blocks, milk rivers and pits of stomach acid. Notch, make this happen for me.
There is no cow level.
:tongue.gif:
But yeah, I don't really mind the 'animal egg' idea. It definitely would make it a lot easier to get the mobs into the area you wanted, like if you were trying to build a farm.

Female cows have eggs in their body. When they mate, the sperm of the male cow goes through the female cow and fertilizes an EGG
yay beefcakes!
BEEFCAKE!!
You have to admit, it is better than nothing.
Old signature got imageshack'd.
You might know everything I'm going to do, but that's not going to help you, since I know everything you're going to do! Strange, isn't it?
Lazy excuse? He wanted to add them because it makes breeding more mobile.
You can tell from the first screenshot he posted that breeding "the normal way" is much simpler to code.
Mooshroom eggs to really set the trolls off.
