.. what, what? Phar was quoting somebody about how the game is in beta/pre-release and that's why people should give feedback, and I said sometimes people blur the line between constructive criticism and whining.
@ Dragonid
It hasn't been addressed as a bug and this post, unlike a lot of others, is pretty well-thought out.
First, We are all aware that it was a pre-release. We are all aware that this is a beta.
Second, the above statement does not mean that we should just sit back and hush up. The pre-release was released in order to get feedback from the community, therefore this thread is valuable as feedback.
Third. For anyone who knows anything about programming you should know that once a code is written it is fairly easy to copy and place in other spots. Take the nice algorithm used (up to the point) for all the biome shading. It's there in the game already. It worries me that the swamp biome appeared as it did because, to be honest, it wouldn't have taken them that long to copy the same or similar algorithm over.
Fourth, for me, the biggest concern over the entire 1.9 update is that there are bugs in the game that have been there for several updates. The sponge, for example. Also, the wood slabs counting as stone. There are several others that I can think of that have gone a long time without being fixed. Again, this comes down to programming. If previous bugs are not fixed before new content is added then there may be new bugs that arise because the new content is reacting with old bugs. This could be avoided by fixing the old bugs. Adding new content is buggy enough without that complication.
In otherwords, I fully support this thread.

I had heard Mojang already had the problem with biome grass isolated, and that they were revamping water to support the color more smoothly. Something about the biome color png, or something. That's just what I heard, anyway.
Now, if only they'd pack swamp trees a bit closer, and move that black fog from under ground, into swamps, and recolor it or something. I want swamps to be murky and mysterious. Right now, they're dull-colored, but bright and visible.

Why do we have a Suggestions section if everyone shoots everyone else down? I suggest renaming it the Flame War section. Pun intended.
The borders aren't properly smoothed for the swamps. Do we really need a 50th thread talking about what is obviously a bug. I wish this forum allowed downrating as well.
It's not a bug-- better transitions and editable colors are features that need to be added.
And if the other threads were so effective, why are they not on the front page? If people don't keep talking about the issue, it will be forgotten and ignored-- the same way Mojang has neglected to fix many other issues that need fixing.
At first I though you were going to be some annoying kid with horrible grammar, but you actually had a good explanation. I agree with you, I think it should be re-looked at too.
leave it as is. I'm just happy hes making biomes more unique. I think going back and making it "customizable" just is a waste of time. I'd rather they work on new npcs for each biome.
I do support better smoothing like he did with grass, and I guarantee you, that will come in time.

Just like useable sponge? Or wooden slabs that break with an ax rather than a pick?
Not trying to be a ****, but I hope you see what I'm getting at here. There's no 'guarentee' that it will be fixed if we don't raise a ruckus about it.
I like the idea of having unique biome coloration for swamps-- both grass/trees and water-- but texture makers should have a way to change it for those who can't stand the dark gray color.
So what I want is realistic swamps - made out of blocks and pixels.
Irony is funny.

More Ocean Life: Kelp, Coral, Crabs and Jellyfish; Coconut Palm trees for beaches and islands. Terrain Generation Changes: Which biomes and world-building features are most in need of change?
Why on earth would you think that? This is a real issue that people should not simply throw up their hands and go 'oh well' about. Even if you like the colors, there's no reason for them to be hardcoded-- or for the transitions between biomes to be so glaringly abrupt.
I don't see why we need to raise awareness of a problem they're already aware off.
If you want to do this, why not do it in the proper places set up by Mojang, instead of doing it here where your post will quickly disappear between trolls and spammers?
Last time I checked, the minecraftforum.net 1.9 discussion forum WAS the proper place to talk about these kinds of things.
EDIT: And having Mojang simply be 'aware' of a problem has never been a guarantee that they will fix it.
Thing is, I like the water color, and the swamp color, but I do agree that some blending is needed between the different water kinds. It is kind of ugly when you see a random checkerboard look between blackish and blue.

its pretty obvious thought, im sure they know it needs better blending.

My link
So it will most likely be fixed for the 1.9 release.
I don't even have he pre-release and i hate it.
Swamps, for one,are NOT dark grey. they are green.
don't make it editable, MAKE IT LIGHTER.

It doesn't have to look realistic in order to not be so ugly.
