motch might ad magic to the game making golems possible, just like breeding, but thats all a pipe dream in reality
If golems were part of some sort of magic in the game, I wouldn't mind it so much. I'm sure that would give it some sort of limit, unlike now. You gotta understand with a name like snow golem, you'd expect it to be an aggressive monster that would actually do some damage. Creative thinking is much appreciated but he turned this snowman into a snow golem and it's features offer nothing more than a joke.
For example, a creeper is at least a monster. This monster blows up you as well as blocks. This adds to difficulty. In addition, there are ways to kill him while preventing him to blow up. A bow and arrow is one way, sprinting and attacking him with a sword is another. Do you honestly believe a snow golem is a better idea than a creeper? I don't think so.
I remember a time when people couldn't wait for 1.8, but now everyone hates it just because you need food that's easy as hell to get.
Everyone complains about different things. The food system went in the right direction, though I did have some doubts and did question it. However, my friends eventually encouraged me to play survival even though 1.9 is most likely going to require me to delete my world anyway. I've got to admit, they really thought this system through. I congratulate whatever developer thought of this hunger system. It's insanely good.
I think there is a little too much humor going to be present in minecraft when 1.9 comes out. I don't believe Notch is taking it seriously what-so-ever and it's just going to kill my experience in minecraft, a game which had much potential and respect. Instead of convincing people to buy the game now, I'm telling them to wait because I don't feel Notch is at the right state of mind at the moment. Humor is appreciated but not so much as in to ruining the general quality of the game.
Jokes in Patch 1.9
Snow Golem
- Renamed to escalate the joke.
- Made only because he was "frustrated".
- Could of been working on another mob, like a baby animal.
- Doesn't fit the theme of minecraft at all.
NPCs
- Look graphically bad when compared to the rest of minecraft.
- Have a humorous look that makes you not even take a village seriously or the game for that matter.
- Jeb stated that they are not planning on changing their look anytime soon.
Animal Breeding
- All animals will come from eggs because Notch thinks it's funny.
- Somehow I believe this isn't a joke because we all thought the snowman was and look what happened.
- Notch is most likely doing this because he's too lazy to introduce baby animals, which is a big disappointment.
- Baby animals will be widely suitable for all age groups unlike an egg which would only be a placeholder for wasted time.
Possible Solutions
Each point is a different solution.
Snow Golem
- Make it a snowman and keep it as a decoration.
- Have it only be available during the holidays.
- Make it look like an actual snow golem which will spawn naturally rather than being crafted.
NPCs
- Make them look like a regular villager.
- Have them look like pigmen, like they were supposed to be.
Animal Breeding
- Do not make all animals hatch from eggs.
- All animals except chickens, should spawn babies.
Reminder
I actually like animal breeding and NPCs. Those general ideas are great, however the way Notch is going to handle them differently than I expected. In addition, I like minecraft and I'm not planning on leaving. Believe it or not, this is called feedback. So if you're concerned about people voicing their opinion, then you should make your way out of the forums.
I'm not going to read through all the comments on the thread, but I'l bet you anything you've been told to make your own game, start your own company, stop playing a game YOU paid for, etc, etc.
These Minecraft Fanboys are letting Notch and Jeb **** with us. If the community were more demanding of them, we would've had more updates by now, and the worst that could happen is they'd ignore us lol.
I agree 100% with you though, Minecraft Development isn't being taken seriously at all.
Feedback is essential and I stand with you, and against all the little Minecraft Fanboys I'm sure have already posted here telling you to GTFO.

I've seen you stating your opinions as well on other threads and I've upvoted you. But you gotta think on the bright side, these people are only bumping your thread, making more people read up, hopefully experiencing a change of heart. It's true, there is no pressure for Notch, fans just promote his childish behavior and slack. That is why the game is being rushed with garbage and patches are continuously being spread out. People don't realize that this is ruining the quality of the game.
What's even more screwed up is that Notch has millions but he only has one other programmer? Yeah, if he really cared about the development of minecraft don't you think he'd hire more programmers? Nah, we should just let him waste our money on more vacations. It's pretty funny actually, because I could of swore I read this if you purchase it...
Here's what you get:
•You get early access to the game to a discounted price! •You help fund the development of Minecraft
•Custom skins in multiplayer
•Once you've bought the game, it's yours. No DRM.

I agree Trenix isn't getting enough backing in this. 90% of this thread has been unintelligible variations of telling someone (Trenix) off. There's no discussion, just fanboy attacks on constructive criticism. Discuss with valid points. Don't throw rocks unless you can offer content to the discussion.
I played this game back in classic. Notch used to have secret update Friday where he would continuously develop content every week to keep things fresh. The content was *quality*. Everything from Torches, water effects, terrain development, to new biomes (BEFORE someone posts 'lol quality? pixelated grafix idiot.', I'm talking about how the game feels, so don't bother).
I will give Notch an A+ with the massive Adventure update that he released. It got me back into playing Minecraft after a down period of a few months. This is the quality that the game followed originally.
I for one agree the NPCs and the 'Snow Golems' are horrible. Testificate is a joke, hands down. If it's permanent, Mojang is screwing with us. Snow Golems? Sure, there's a use for them such as farming mobs, but there could be better global uses for them rather than just catering to mob-trap survival mode players.
Notch (tries to?) keep[s] this game open. This game's principle success is it's infinite methods of gameplay. Some take it serious, and build massive structures of awe. Others are satisfied with a wood house, and like to screw with the mechanics of Red Stone. Hell, some people just play the game to run headlong into a cave just killing things.
Now that I've heard of the egg thing, I'm not quite sure. I do think it's getting a bit ridiculous. The NPCs should be pigmen, or something related. Pigmen would be the most logical route, and would 'fit'. Snow Golems are an obvious point as well. When I first saw both of them, I honestly still think it's a pre-release joke.
To sum it all up: I think Notch is still dedicating his time to the game. Sure, it's not as much as it used to be, but it's still there. Also, I'm with Trenix on his original reasoning and suggestions before the Markus-Persson-ass-licking-train showed up. He's a Developer, guys. Pressure keeps developers on goal.

More like he used the money to fund Mojang and other projects. He made minecraft, you helped him developing it, but now he do whatever he wants with his money, and I think like most of the people here when it comes to where he spend it should go primarily on Minecraft but he could have stopped before the adventure updates and just say "hey, thats your game, enjoy it!"

I understand the graphics of pixels, but a chicken looks graphically better than these horrible NPCs. It's serious when I waste my money on something that isn't took seriously. Mineshafter user I suppose?
Just so your on the same page as the rest of the people that "Waste their money on something that isn't (taken) seriously", the game is in beta my friend... you gave Notch your money cause you liked what the game had to offer. Notch could shut the game off right now and you wouldn't see a dime of your money back. It's all in the disclaimer man. So grow up and live with what you paid for, Notch didn't force you to buy his game in beta, you could have waited.

You're wrong, he couldn't of done that.
1) He would lose all respect for community because it's supposed to be released in November. This will give his new game Scrolls a very bad name. We all know Scrolls is only popular because of minecraft.
2) Minecraft will continue to be updated after release as it states before you purchased it, especially since we're getting expansions. If we didn't, it will be considered false advertising.
3) Why would Notch release the official game before Minecon? That would really harm his reputation in so many levels.

It wouldn't be false advertising, when you buy the game, as far as I remember, there was something like "you buy the game as it is now", and all updates are just additionnal cream on the cake. But I could be wrong.

Also if you want to have a serious discussion about the game, and put your idea's for how the game should be improved out there you don't start by making the title of your forum post "IS MINECRAFT BECOMING A JOKE?" because firstly it is a childish attempt at attention and secondly your going to be flamed by everyone who thinks the updates are just fine, like myself.
In the future should you want to be serious and offer up some proper speculation, your subject line should read "Thing's I like and don't like about the update" etc... etc.... that subject line is much more appealing, and will give people a better perspective of you, when clicking on your thread to read and post their view points.

The disclaimer is most likely suggesting that there is a "risk" of the game being discontinued, mainly because of the insufficient amount of funds. I doubt this means he can at any moment, stop working on the game, and keep all the money for himself. You're trying to infer that Notch is saying that he can scam everyone if he feels like it.

It wouldn't be scamming, he gave you a product already, should he continue to develop it is up too him. If he choose to discontinue work on the game, he has that right.

So I added a part titled "Possible Solutions" in my post for those people who would reply to me like you just did. Yet, I still receive these replies. I also tried to keep my post really professional and organized but then again if you're a fan, no negative feedback is acceptable, right?
By the way, the title of the post is doing great and getting much attention. So I disagree with your feedback.
