I think there is a little too much humor going to be present in minecraft when 1.9 comes out. I don't believe Notch is taking it seriously what-so-ever and it's just going to kill my experience in minecraft, a game which had much potential and respect. Instead of convincing people to buy the game now, I'm telling them to wait because I don't feel Notch is at the right state of mind at the moment. Humor is appreciated but not so much as in to ruining the general quality of the game.
I find I'm not quite sure what your post is about. Going on the premise that "too much humor kills the game" only works for the segment of the community that don't like the humor and believe Minecraft should be more "realistic" than kooky/funny. It's not a generalized thing that everyone would agree about, but you make it sound as though it is. Did you perhaps post this just to see how people would react to your opinion?
If so, here's my bit--otherwise, could you clarify what you're trying to state??
I absolutely love absurd humor as it's present in Minecraft, and believe all the weird things Notch has been adding to Minecraft make it unique and MORE attractive. I haven't seen too many games out there that are concerned with "being funny", perhaps because everyone's sense of humor is different so it wouldn't be a safe venture.
The suggestions you've put forward would steer it towards more realism, but why do this in the end? It would cater to another group of players, sure, but then it'd stop catering to those among us who actually *like* the weirdness. As gazillions have suggested, there are other game alternatives that may fit better with your tastes. I don't understand why among all the options, you want *Minecraft* to become more realistic. Why this and not Terraria? What about the Minecraft clones (I'm thinking someone is already developing one with more realism, since this seems to be a huge point of contention.)
I don't believe Minecraft is becoming a joke and don't think that will happen unless Mojang makes the game unplayable with too many additions. All bugs aside, I don't believe that's the case now. I also wonder when that could happen, I mean--you have a whole community of people who do nothing but mod MORE silliness into the game. You can pick and choose, and create your own balance.
So I wonder, perhaps you haven't been looking at the right mods? Among the horde of modders who agree with you, some will actually implement the features and behavior you are seeking. Or you could request those, or even make them yourself if you have the fire for it.
I guess this is a question for all the "unsatisfied customers" out there, but.... This is the game that offers the most diversity out of all I've played in ten years! Why demand that Notch change his mind about the original game? I honestly don't get this.

How to deal with ignorance (in life, and on forums): The Zen way... Stay cool and polite, treat people as you wish to be treated, rise above your impatience. Everyone is ignorant of something at any point in their lives, including you.
If anything, minecraft is getting more serious lately.
The initial picture of the snow golem did look a bit derpy, but that was probably a half-melted picture. Now they have a jack-o-lantern head, which is an interesting aesthetic. They are also rather useful, and lay a foundation for later craftable utility mobs.
The egg breeding was a joke. People seem to have a hard time distinguishing between Notch's jokes and his serious comments. I really, honestly do not know why, I have never mixed them up.
I like the villager's design. Distinctly nonhuman(though apparantly not distinclty enough for some people. They are not human!) yet still relatable.
The mushroom islands and mooshrooms are whimsical, and confinded to islands in the middle of the ocean. This makes it a special reward for exploration, and a great source of resources.
And we are getting a lot of serious content too. Strongholds in the nether, magma cubes, or whatever we are calling them, blazes, the nether is pretty mean. Bosses are coming, we have hunger, armour is being reworked, they promise new, tougher mobs that you will need to level up to face, more goals...
Don't get me wrong. Minecraft is not a serious game. The new elements are not extremely serious, but no more so than the rest of the game.
Take a deep breath, relax, and enjoy the game.
I'd actually prefer eggs to simply having baby animals.
Why? I can transport an egg in inventory, instead of trying to herd a baby animal across countless block distance to a pen I built to contain it.
However, if chucking the egg does not result in it breaking free a baby animal, that would be weird. In fact, each egg should have a chance to spawn a baby slime instead (genetic mutation, lol).
comparing the villagers to chickens is ridiculous, the chickens have been around since alpha (when theyve looked like ducks) now they look good because of all the reworking. and mr is-to-lazy is also working on dozens of diffrent codes used for dozens of other things such as newer better biomes, new mobs, new blocks, items, etc. but instead ud like him to stay stuck on one mob because you dont like it and are to lazy download a newer texture.

I agree with that. One additional thing that people seem to be ignoring with the proposed alternative, is that if you want to raise animals you would be forced to raise wheat first to replenish your animals. If I'm being forced to raise wheat, why would I bother with the animals after that. I could just turn the wheat into bread, and have less **** to put up with.
Tending animals should not rely on tending crops. That's a feedlot, not ranching. At least with eggs I wouldn't be forced to build and maintain fields of wheat too.

More Ocean Life: Kelp, Coral, Crabs and Jellyfish; Coconut Palm trees for beaches and islands. Terrain Generation Changes: Which biomes and world-building features are most in need of change?
What's constructive to you, positive feedback? Or maybe having an alternative solution for the issues? Well here's the solution. Improve the snow golem into making it look at least like a monster rather than a snowman, and make it not craftable. That, or make it become just a decoration. As for the NPCs, make them look better. Last, make animal breeding have babies rather than eggs.
If you couldn't see what I was asking for, then you need some help.
Maybe I need some help then? All I saw was complaining in you're orginal post, not a single suggestion. If you dont like the look of the snow golem, make a texture pack, if you don't like the look of npcs, make a texture pack. And don't complain about features that haven't even been realeased into the game yet, you can't possibly have anything constructive to say about breeding because its not in the game yet :S, stop pre-complaining you whiner.
When you reference a thread, please make sure that you have read and understand it yourself.

Please do not post suggestions for new features in this section. Any discussion about features that are not confirmed or speculated (with evidence) to be included in the Beta 1.9 update will be deleted and the original poster will be warned (and possibly suspended, depending on their total number of warning points).
This means not to post suggestions for completely new features that haven't been confirmed or speculated yet.
For instance flying pigs.
You are in a 1.9 discussion forum, of course you are alowed to suggest improvments for features introduced in 1.9... dur
In fact Constructive Critism is encouraged here, however complaining and whining simply doesn't belong anywhere.
I play Minecraft to Escape Reality and Have some fun in a Silly, Humourous World, Minecraft in no way should be serious, you have boring old reality for that.

I've made suggestions on a feature which has been confirmed and my thread was locked. I'm just trying to play it safe. I did however added possible solutions. People should check original posts more often, they tend to update overtime if the user is active.
I did add constructive criticism, but stubbornness makes people think otherwise. Good day to your sir.
I understand the graphics of pixels, but a chicken looks graphically better than these horrible NPCs. It's serious when I waste my money on something that isn't took seriously. Mineshafter user I suppose?
Are you afraid of change? Hell no, love the new systems.
Do you hate challenge? Of course not, increase the difficulty please.
However this egg idea, are you serious? A snow golem? Crappy NPCs?
Hey why don't you read some other posts and realize: THE EGG THING WAS A JOKE.
Read up on **** before you go blabbering, yeah?
I agree with this post whole heartedly. Don't forget the mushroom infected cows.
And for the record, no one is saying this game has to be serious and realistic, but there is a difference un-serious, and just goofy, and stupid. Which is what it's becoming.
If the Villagers stay like they are now, I would be very disappointed. I would murder the entire village on site, and blow all the buildings up...
I think all these updates Notch added are amazing, although they may be slightly obnoxious, it makes the game a lot better for a lot of us. We like these updates because they're fun updates and MC isn't supposed to be that realistic and serious to begin with.
I think all the things that Notch has updated so far are great, I have no problems so far and all animals hatching from eggs? That's damn awesome.
I think there is a little too much humor going to be present in minecraft when 1.9 comes out. I don't believe Notch is taking it seriously what-so-ever and it's just going to kill my experience in minecraft, a game which had much potential and respect. Jokes in Patch 1.9
Snow Golem
- Renamed to escalate the joke.
- Made only because he was "frustrated".
- Could of been working on another mob, like a baby animal.
- Doesn't fit the theme of minecraft at all.
NPCs
- Look graphically bad when compared to the rest of minecraft.
- Have a humorous look that makes you not even take a village seriously or the game for that matter.
- Jeb stated that they are not planning on changing their look anytime soon.
Animal Breeding
- All animals will come from eggs because Notch thinks it's funny.
- Somehow I believe this isn't a joke because we all thought the snowman was and look what happened.
- Notch is most likely doing this because he's too lazy to introduce baby animals, which is a big disappointment.
- Baby animals will be widely suitable for all age groups unlike an egg which would only be a placeholder for wasted time.
Possible Solutions
Each point is a different solution.
Snow Golem
- Make it a snowman and keep it as a decoration.
- Have it only be available during the holidays.
- Make it look like an actual snow golem which will spawn naturally rather than being crafted.
NPCs
- Make them look like a regular villager.
- Have them look like pigmen, like they were supposed to be.
Animal Breeding
- Do not make all animals hatch from eggs.
- All animals except chickens, should spawn babies.
Reminder
I actually like animal breeding and NPCs. Those general ideas are great, however the way Notch is going to handle them differently than I expected. In addition, I like minecraft and I'm not planning on leaving. Believe it or not, this is called feedback. So if you're concerned about people voicing their opinion, then you should make your way out of the forums.
I agree!! I think that notch is getting out of touch with the community, and we are to busy making the game the way we want it, look on the fourms, it is starting to be that mods are the only reason that people still play minecraft

Strange. I was just talking to my friend yesterday. He asked me if minecraft was a waste of money because it's becoming a joke, I responded saying that the only good part about purchasing it, was the mods. Once they become supported, doubt anyone will stick to Notch's joke of a game.
I like all this silliness. I love all the surreal creatures Minecraft has to offer, be it a cow with fungi problems, exploding dildos or snowmen that celebrate both Christmas and Halloween at the same time, because I have a thing for games with original fauna.
My only problem are the NPCs.
For me it was as if players were supposed to be the only humans, exploring and building in this weird world. I was really hoping for 'monster villages' rather than Neanderthal towns. Pigmen, if added uniforms, would go well. You see, there are zombie pigmen populating the Nether, why not have their not-rotting counterpart populating the Overworld?
But, well, this is only my personal suggestion and opinion.
