I'm still puzzled as to why none of cocoavalley's mod was implemented, considering that Mojang had the source code and the full blessing of the modder to use it in the game - it was very advanced, with baby animal models and everything.
Ah well, at least we actually *have* breeding now! :biggrin.gif:
They just chase each other and jump up and down and then another one pops out.
Started with two sheep - 1 minute later, sheep train! Had about 20 sheep. I don't think anyone can complain about the animal spawning now, especially since you can make them follow you (thankfully! trying to push them through a trench was a pain in the butt)
There isn't anything inherently "wrong" with sex, but although the sex taboo is artificial, it still exists and has to be acknowledged. You probably don't think introducing a child to sex will damage them, but most people do, and that will most assuredly have an effect them. No kid wants to grow up believing there's something wrong with them.
I think most parenting skills and traditions are slowly going out the window.
I think it's damaging to our children the amount of information that's being withheld from our kids.
It's much better to be upfront with a kid than lie to their face for them to find out somehow later, and then think all kinds of crazy things in their underdeveloped mind.
Say your parents are getting a divorce, you don't find out till it's over and it's been going on for years. You look back and realize they were hiding it from you all along. First thought is probably "it's all my fault"
Damaging.
So I'd agree. Taboos aren't really taboos though. It's more like "I'm too embarrassed" and once again, human laziness. Most people don't want to confront their problems, they'd rather just put them off till it's too late.
I like this, iut gives another use for wheat and come on, truthfully wheat is a good thing. It was EASY to farm up, easy to get more then you ever need and now you can lead animals around and make them breed. NO ONE should have to whine about the hunger bar ever again. Not when with stuff like this you have an infinite food supply.
The breeding and herding systems are tons of fun so far.
Baby animals will be a welcome addition tho, as they would add a time investment requirement, as you'd need to wait for them to grow up before slaughtering them, as opposed to now where you can basically instantly turn wheat into meat via breeding.
Another thing I'd like to see, have sheep food be wild grass, and chickens food be seeds, and maybe mushrooms for pigs, for breeding and herding purposes. This way you'd need more than just a wheat farm to breed all of them, and you could then choose to have only 1 kind of animal follow you at a time, as opposed to now where every animal follows you if you have wheat (which makes it hard to intentionally separate different animals from each other). It would also give more use to seeds, which you tend to get a surplus of once you have a wheat farm.

I'd assume something like this would happen eventually, but yeah, each animal should have its preferred food that only they will follow.
Some other changes that are needed:
-pigs should grow up faster than cows, otherwise they're just worse than cows in every useful way, otherwise pigs need another use, right now its pigs 0-2 porkchops that are exact same as beef, but cows drop 1-3 beef, 0-2 leather, and can be milked, and i wouldn't call being able to ride around randomly worth the difference
-sheep should regrow wool, right now you pretty much have to breed them for wool, but that means killing them afterwards or you just end up with way too many naked sheep, and it's weird to shear them then kill them lol

Then there shall be a man, who shall breed millions of cows, and create a vast army and take over the world. Then he shall have a rule, for every cow, white and brown, shall create a cow every 0.2 seconds. Then for every cow has not listen to him, shall create a cow every 0.1 second.
I don't mind how they breed at the moment. you would still need the resources to get them to go.
I do like the idea of each animal having it's own food. that way I can more easily separate animals. also, I would like some for of place-able food that the animals can eat on their own, but at a much slower pace. Just as long as I can make a large army of chickens and then have them run through fire, I'll be fine with any changes.
Oh, I thought of one reason to breed pigs:
Breed insane amounts of pigs to cover an area, then wait for thunderstorms to turn them into zombie pigmen, then kill the zombie pigmen for gold nuggets.

Obviously it's a bug, but wheat does not run out at all. So 1 wheat, turns into a lot of food.

Then comes the Cow Age.

Now *that's* thinking with Minecraft.
