Why are people so terrified of the process of reproduction?
It's no wonder people grow up to have such warped complexes over sex.
totally agree, about the only bad thing anyone could say about notch he bows to the politically correctness-nazi crowd far too often.

The problem is that a majority of childrens parents think that sex is a dirty thing for children to know exists.
Personally I wouldn't have an issue with MC animals actually having a sex animation. But unfortunately, many parents are overprotective and try to shelter their children from what might possibly could have maybe been proven to possibly cause issues at some potential time.

lol Adding in a realistic mating process is way more trouble than it's worth, considering the total lack of reality in so much of the game. People wanting copulating animals, preggo cow bellies, months of carrying to term, even male and female animal models, all that is more ridiculous for the setting of Minecraft than eggs would be.
We can have herds of asexual hermaphroditic animals that randomly produce eggs ('cause thats what the chickens are already). I still think we need some of the eggs to hatch automatically, so wolves/lions/bears/oh-my! don't drive wild populations into extinction.

You bring up an interesting point, how is mo creatures gunna handle this? It'll HAVE to make them able to breed on their own if Notch doesn't...
there we have it in a nutshell, if you want to excuse it as something other than PC thuggery as to why all animals shall hatch from eggs:
what happens when some noob kills your animal that's pregnant like 4 game weeks in and all you get to show for it is an extra raw steak, not even a fetus to cook and eat?

Remember that ALL animals will have eggs. So you can collect spider eggs and creeper eggs, and use them to defend your castle by smashing them on the heads of people trying to invade, and spawning spiders and creepers on them to slay the invaders with your monstrous hordes.

****ing finally. ****ing finally! ****ING FINALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY! This is the single biggest aspect of 1.8/1.9/1.10 that has made me want to play this game, and without it, I gave Minecraft up. FINALLY!
Making all animals come from eggs = lazy game design.
Considering that animal husbandry is only a small piece of what is going on in the game, I think it far preferable to keep it simple (so most people can do it to reap most of the benefits, and not fell like they're playing a game about raising animals) and silly ('cause lets face it, Minecraft is not realistic, most of it is quite fanciful).
The breeding system needs to be so simple that the animal populations can maintain themselves at a useful level. That way when you build your pyramid or whatever you don't have to spend half of every light cycle poking your cows with a stick to make them breed.

actually, making things overcomplicated when there is a better, simpler solution is just plain old stupidity, not lazy. :smile.gif:

Like I said before, just make the pregnant adult animal drop babies like sheep drop wool.
Just pops out, and you got a bibbeh.
honestly, i bet it'll be a moot point either way. i mean... out of all things living, find me one that isn't horny? :biggrin.gif: :tongue.gif:

This update will be complained about like the hunger bar. Dam whiners.
I admit, the hunger bar doesn't seem to be as bad as I expected it to be. Though I haven't really spent too much time building, so I don't know how irritating it's going to be in the long run. I could very well find myself back at my originally stated opinion on the subject.

go out and slaughter mobs once every few days and have a few emergency cakes at your shelter, it's nowhere near as bad as it could have been.
hell with two players we managed to collect a few stacks of steak entirely in one day, should last through at least a few play sessions.
i kinda like the food actually, daily tasks seem to be more manageable with them now, day 1 is devoted to wood, day 2 devoted to food, day 3 getting a non wooden or hole in the ground shelter built, day 4 mining.
then again this is with two players it seemed a lot harder to prioritize properly without food the way it is now.

There are already heart animations from what I see in the picture. It would be cute to see a nuzzle animation, but not entirely necessary.
From what I've seen in the super long anti-hunger thread(You know the one) people are upset that there is a new game changing aspect that they are forced to do--it's a thing that takes time away from what they would normally spend hunting monsters and mining for ore.
An intense breeding program involving pregnancy, male/female animals, multiple new items and animations, etc. etc. as is suggested a few times here would of course be fun and awesome--I play harvest moon and other animal breeding/raising games like that. I raise animals in the real world too, I've had kittens born and they are all now amazing adults, and I'm raising a baby boa and watching her grow into a beautiful snake. I have a frog, I've raised dogs, ducks, and horses. Animals are SO cool and all work in different ways--and they take TIME out of your life. Lots of time.
That is time that I don't think the majority of minecraft players would be all that interested in spending. A simple system--aka give food so animal enters love mode, poof! Instant baby animal(haha, or egg :wink.gif: ) is in no way realistic. It's simple, it's easy to code. I'm fine with that. it's easy on computers, it doesn't take time(other than raising a baby when they are implemented) and it can be modded for extra details.
Like people have said in other threads--mods should be for the extra content we would like to see, not always taking away things that are too complex. I think it would be nicer to see 'farm' mods where we get more 'baby' animal stages, more items, more complex 'baby-making', all that. But I don't know how necessary it is to have that in vanilla minecraft.
I would download the mod, I love the farming, I love the idea of all the complicated fun ranching. I would like to see more options. But again, I can also see the benefit of a simple system. People start running low on food in the mines, they run up to their ranch, feed a few animals and get them into love mode. Wait for some babies and 'replenish' their stock of food. Then they can immediately go down to the mines.
I do think the egg thing is a joke, but I really wouldn't mind if it was real. I like the idea of a transportable farm. I want my cows underground in a secret mineshaft? I don't have to make them tag along through lava to get there, they stay right in my pocket. Micromanaging how many animals go where would be simple. But again, I think it's a joke. But even if it isn't... It wouldn't be too hard to change, just change the code that says to create the egg item when x action happens to instead create a baby cow mob.
I dunno, I feel like simple=better in this situation. Simple means fewer bugs! Simple means easy to mod to add what we want. Simple means people with no interest with ranching who need meat can get it quickly and easily.
But that's just my opinion of course. :smile.gif: we'll see how it is when it comes out. Who knows, opinions may change.

Laziness = human nature, and leads to success. Without laziness we wouldn't have civilization.
On another note, I would personally like the idea of eggs. It's completely original and would allow you to easily control when things reproduce.
