I'm gonna go out on a limb here, and say that gender binarism is an awful facet of real life,
and that it shouldn't touch Minecraft. But hey, I could be biased and wrong, who knows?
How about the "female" consuming the "male" after they mate.
No, the female should lay her eggs within the male's abdominal region. Then, when the eggs hatch, the young are able to feast on the male's warm body, increasing their chances for survival.
I can't wait. I have a massive underwater glass city, I can't figure out how to make an area for passive mobs to spawn that looks good. This way I can just make a stable.
Well, I dislike the egg idea and favor the baby animals (cute!!! hopefully). Different genders seem interesting as well.
To prevent overbreeding:
-as posted above by numerous others, feed 2 of the same animal (different genders required?).
-limit of 1 baby per female in... let's say 60 MC nights?
-babies require... let's say 60 MC nights to grow into adulthood? (possibly genders are random after reaching adulthood?)
Solve problems here (since Notch reads the forums) to push Mojang into making it happen. = possibly faster updates/more coding done = almost everyone happy?
Also, I'm not really a programmer but from what I know of reusing code in the hierarchy format reduces code and therefore reduces process time for searching for things (as it's easier for computers to search) and equals less lag (which everyone complains about from time to time, such as if you don't have the latest gaming computer). Reduced codes allow easier debugging (from my limited experience) and may make many people happy. For people whom dislike code recycling, out of curiosity are you actually working with the code for mods/bandaid-fixes? This paragraph may require some programmers' knowledge.
I can just imagine myself running through the sheep with the slo-mo mod and a diamond sword, picking them off one by one, and watching it afterwards in real time.
Good luck doing anything productive being swarmed by every passive mob in the game. You know what would be cute in the weirdest of ways?
Baby creepers. I would be horrified If I found a Creeper nest.
Haha that would be cool! But you're right I guess, it would be quite weird XD. Especially if a bunch of them started chasing after you.
No... they retract, and testes would be inappropriate
Wow, thanks for that vital information! Because I'm sure that the Male and Female genitals of animals are the most important part of animal breeding in Minecraft and needs to be taken seriously and thoroughly discussed. We should definitely keep talking about this! /Sarcasm :tongue.gif:
EDIT: I only meant this as a joke by the way so please don't take it seriously :smile.gif:.

Many people are going to need more than a couple animals worth of meat every couple of days. Most people won't want to have to deal with a huge ranch, and packing large numbers into a tiny space is rather aesthetically unpleasant.
I still prefer the Eggs option. All animals have drops like chickens do now, with some different colors per species. There should also be a % chance for eggs to hatch automatically if the local population is below # so predators and random creeper explosions don't cause extinctions.

All moderation on forums is biased. Mods and admins do play favorites. Thus there is truly no point in "playing by the rules" since enforcement of said rules is subjective. That is why I refuse to censor my speech and will call things exactly as I see them without reservation.

BULLS ARE RED??
BOARS are more brownish??
Different skin could be that they're a solid color as opposed to spotted.
But 100% this
notch: ok, here.
minecraft community: THATS NOT THE BREEDING WE WANT!!!
some people
Thank you for that informative post, King of Sarcasm. /facepalm
That'll prevent mass breeding
Like spiders and mantis

My 2 cents.

Agreed
Spider Breeding. IT MUST BE DONE.
