do people think notch is just gunna straight up leave minecraft hanging?
if he ever did leave it we'd have Jens still there, and he might hire someone else, but he's not gunna leave it hanging lol
You know that little clause on the buy page and in the ToS that said when you bought the game you bought it as is? Maybe you should have read that you retard.
The terms have had more than one version, we didn't all wait 'til beta to buy a piece of the Minecraft idea. So ...

Exactly! This is why I was pissed off too, Notch is just reusing code, not adding anything new or unique. And the food is, I believe, wheat, from the screenshots we've seen.
What you're saying is that every animal should have its own set of rules as to how it is moved around/bred. This makes no sense at all, why not have them all behave similarly so that you're not needlessly complicating the gameplay? It's about consistency in gameplay concepts fella, by your logic adding needless rules to the way you craft and make every friggen item in the game is just an amazing idea. What if crafting every tier of tool required a different kind of work bench be made and placed? Sure it'd add more to do, but at the same time you're making things more complicated then they need to be by adding arbitrary rules to something that should just be consistent for everything.
You get what I'm saying? It's not being lazy its being consistent.
I digress.
I'm perfectly fine with food being the way that you get animals to follow you and as a way to "force-breed" them in the same way using bonemeal on plants forces them to grow faster. That's fine and dandy as a way to sacrifice items to speed up the farming process as we have always had.
The eggs idea...sounds odd but it could work. My only issue being that if the eggs are items like the current chicken eggs, this means that if you want to breed animals you have to micromanage them, hovering around your farm to wait for eggs to drop so you can rush to grab them OR making one of those goofy looking egg-catchers like I've seen done with chickens, the animals stuck in a stream of water and you have to AFK to collect any usable amount. If the eggs are a block that can be placed, then its basically a way to make more easily transported baby animals. Could work, just can't say its my favorite idea.
I'm actually with you on the idea that animals, when given all the necessary things (read, grass and water) would then be able to breed. I'm just not entirely sue that having those two things present is necessary because that's just more things the game had to 'check' for before breeding can occur, which may cause more lag. Or not, I don't know.
My thought however, would be that the way to limit animals breeding into a giant cluster like Notch showed in that screenshot, would be to add a set of rules to limit the amount of animals that can spawn in a given space. Its already implemented with the new way Mushrooms spread, where you won't get anymore of them if there are already a certain number in a given area, just do that. Whenever animal breeding/duplication tries to occur, the game quickly scans the usable area around the mobs and counts the number of said mob already present. If there are too many no more animals will breed-spawn. This way the number of animals you can have present in a pen is always going to be directly proportional to the size of the enclosure you have made.

And instead of rewriting everything, I'll just quote my idea for breeding:
How would I? I'd love for a lasso to be implemented into the game, and then you bring them to your area with that. Maybe made from wheat and/or sugarcane.
Then, to have them breed, you should have to have a few aspects. First, there should be tall grass for them to eat, and a block of water somewhere for them to "drink" (Even though there won't be an animation). Then, they should have to stay within 4-5 blocks for a certain amount of time to create another mob.
And then when that works, add baby mobs. Don't just make them pop out another sheep or pig, ready to **** on day one. Make it more interesting than "Feed-n-****".
Lasso: Pointless. Over-Complication when using the same way you tame wolves is just fine.
Animal breeding ideas: Yeah...I know. I was agreeing and adding to your idea as well as pointing out some issues it may cause.
Thanks for your opinion, it's nice to see that people don't want the game to advance, they just want the same code used for every aspect of the game, over and over and over without anything unique.

Its not but using the same justification for thirteen pages is. We know, You hate that notch is using the same code. You dont need to say it every few posts.

Take your time and quote every time I've mentioned reusing code, and then only repost the ones that I've used twice+ in the same argument with the same person. It's a ****ing thread, more people come in and state their opinions, and yeah, I use my same logic with them too, but I don't use it twice in the same argument with the same person.
And contrary to that, I'll post whatever the flying **** I want to post in my defense.
In fact, I'm surprised there aren't more people using "ITS A BETAAAAA" as an argument on here.

This.
But on the argument. Everyone is forgetting that notch will never, and has never gone in for complex systems. At best you will get something less realistic than dwarf fortress. I don't see notch even putting in the effort to add male counterparts to sheep and cows.

Honestly its not even really your fault, Im just tired of seeing the same "Im okay with it" "Your okay with Notch not being creative" argument because people wont read the thread, The read the first post and the last post and are like "I know exactly what everyone in this whole thread has said derrr"
