I think that if all of the "odd" or RPG changes could be toggled/slidered everything would be peachy for everyone. Mods can take care of the particulars. Part of the joy of MC is that with a little effort it can be any kind of game you want it to be. :smile.gif:
So far it seems animal breeding is in the lead of the most wanted fix for right now!
Though npc interactions and debugs are not far behind!
The slider idea is interesting as well. It would certainly keep people happy while other elements are being worked on, though it may slow things down(like finishing the new content for npcs, new items, animal breeding etc.)
1. Mojang's first and foremost priority should be bug fixes. Fix the old bugs before you add new ones, people! I mean, there are bugs that have been around for almost as long as the game itself, such as redstone taking longer to mine than diamond, and slimes being only in somke chunks. (I personally think they should be rare, but still spawn in all chunks and at the surface.)
2. Food needs to be nerfed. Hard. It should be made non-stack-able again and drop less often. It also needs to heal less. This way, it will feel more like a survival game. It will also be more balanced, because at the moment you can kill one cow and restore more than half your hunger w/o even cooking the meat.
3. Make all of the RPG stuff in its own game mode. That way, you can have 1.7 and before styled survival (survival mode), 1.8+ styled RPG mode, or creative mode.
4. NPCs need the be useful. They look pretty ugly, but I can put that aside if they have roles in their community. Maybe a medic, who will heal you if you give them gold. There could also be a chef who sells food, and a blacksmith who sells iron tools. Then there would be the miners who will sell blocks. Also, there could be soldiers/archers armed with swords/bows (respectively) that will try to kill off hostile mobs. Another nice addition would be female NPCs (with normal-sized noses), and have the game randomize a character's gender when they spawn. Finally, give them names. "TESTIFICATE" isn't exactly the kind of person you want to be around.
5. Items that don't have uses need to be useful. Perhaps add some sort of Hell-metal and then use that in combination with Blaze Rods to make flaming tools and weapons. Also, slimeballs should be throwable, and if they hit a mob they should put some green, drippy particle effect on them and halve their speed for a couple seconds.
6. Endermen need to be rarer, but have more health and damage. Also, fix the bug that only makes them angry if you look 2 inches above them.
7. Make the swamp shading part of the grasscolor.png/foliagecolor.png files. That would fix the ugly biome transitions and add support for texture packs.
8. Creative mode needs more features. First, remove momentum from flying. In survival, that's fine. But when you are trying to make some epic creation, it's just annoying. Also, there should be WorldEdit/SinglePlayerCommands-style options that can fill an area with the block of choice, make a hollow cube, make an elliptical shape (filled or hollow), etc. And have a key to quick-toggle the instant mining. Some things break when you hit a button and also destroy it instantly.
9. Animal farming. Not a big priority but it would be really cool.
10. Native support for HD textures. I mean, come on people. The patcher is great but its inconvenient.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
My Website. I make mods for Minecraft and am also making my own game.
None of the above. I want SMP parity with single player. Getting tired of not being able to build a workable train station, or EATS road system that works. Why can't we stack carts pez style like single player? Why do stacked boats in a well cause the boats to rise above ladders? I'd like these things to works just as well in SMP.
I think the lag spikes, memory leaks and game crashes many have been dealing with need fixing first, new content can't be examined if you can't get to it, plain and simple.
I would enjoy seeing this for sure! For me, it's not a priority, I don't mind using the HD patcher for now.. :smile.gif: Just would like to see this sometime.

I actually hadn't thought much about SMP changes, thanks for bringing this up :smile.gif:
What i think notch should do is remove peaceful its not survival if theres no enemies. Additionally the new items need a use though i have no doubt they will by the official 1.9. Finally people need to stop complaining in a month and a half the full game will be out and by than there should not be any incomplete features. That is all.

Built-in modding support would make it much easier to deal with the community's split preferences in game mechanics through modding.
And I am a firm believer that Minecraft needs a lot more debugging done. I hope notch will at least dedicate a revision or two to bug fixing, at least after 1.9 final goes live, rather than continuing to add more new features right away.
Oh wow! I definitely forgot about that one. I enjoy void fog, but I can see how it is a very real issue. I would like void fog to go with a day/night pattern.. :smile.gif: So it's sometimes there, sometimes not. But a toggle would be another option!

That is very true, though a lot of times I wonder where the lag issues are coming from? My computer has not had any lag problems with these updates. My boyfriend did have an issue, but he updated his java(turns out his brother who uses his computer decided to torrent a few games, which brought in a program to basically 'cripple' java from checking if he had bought those games. Nathan wiped that, got a new java and can play minecraft 1.9 pre release fine now! His poor brother is just gonna have to buy those games .. Not saying that's other people's problems, that's just what fixed it for him! :laugh.gif: )
As more features are added, undoubtedly the game is going to be more taxing on older systems.
Exactly.
That's why I think that for every piece of new content they add, they should consider how it will affect lag for the majority of the players.
Unless they are already doing that, then +1 to them :smile.gif:

True. I hope when the final game is complete we will get a real 'system requirements' page :smile.gif:
eh animal breeding isnt a big priority to me i think they should add uses for the useless items and add in some features for npcs and maybe beter names? but other than that havent run into any bugs yet

Animal breeding feels important to me, mainly due to the persistance of animals :smile.gif: I accidentally killed off quite a few before I realized this. I suppose I could move to where more animals are, but I would like to have breeding soon so I can take advantage of the few animals left!
I think 'testificate' is just a placeholder name :smile.gif:
i started a thread to this effect but becous i gave sugestions for improvememt (instead of just complaining) it was moved to suggestions where few people will be able to find it. :angry.gif:
will be bery cool
