Thank you Notch for making it easy to change the height limit, now we can have the most epic mountains and deep oceans, I have been waiting for this for a LONG time.
I used the 1024 from the link you gave. It loaded very, very slowly and it lags in game but it looks absolutely amazing, besides a few odd errors with chunk borders.
What happens to the ore veins? Does one still need to dig deeper to get the shinies?
Ive been testing it in creative and it looks like ore still spawns the same as the default height.
Edit: Someone on reddit tested it, and it seems diamonds spawn higher up now. All the way up to 32+. I am guessing the spawning of ores is relative to the map size.

Seed is in the screenshots.

I tried the 512 version, and my minecraft wouldn't boot up. Only the 256 version seems to work for now.
Not as bad as I thought it would be, it is very playable (at least for me) I am guessing it just depends on your system,
The world was still generating when I took that screenshot, it honestly isn't that bad. try it yourself.
I thought the FPS drop would be huge, but nope.
Also how does the generation work for seeds? Completely different map or a stretched map of what it would normally be?

Yeah, most of the swamps now seem to be flooded in water. I was exploring my world via map on a boat and came across a patch of swamp water.
Also, most of the caves seem to come to dead ends without going very deep.
