Even if you like or dislike Mooshrooms, are they not the first biome unique mob*?
In fact, NPC's as well are the first "area" unique mob.
This is certainly great news for he future features of biomes . . .
Imagine the desert mobs, mountain mobs, swamp mobs, snow mobs, etc.
Could they now be a real possibility?
*They spawn only in their own biome, nowhere else.

Why were you the only one to notice this?
Just asking, I thought that mooshrooms spawned on mycelium, which is different from grass. It's that purple stuff in the mushroom biomes. See where I'm going here?

70% of people have signatures that try and boost their superiority complexes. Post this if you're a hypocrite.
My cows mostly just spawn in forests right now haha. So yeah, more biome specific mobs would be cool, even if they are just variations of what we have (mountain goat is very much like our sheep for example)
I think this is a great idea, in fact I think it could be expanded upon heavily. Why not have all resources and animals in biomes unique to the environment. One could only find the resources to make colored dyes in certain biomes, and then NPC villages could each have their own colors and architecture depending on the biome they spawned in.
Certain villages could have more advanced structures because iron / stone would not be found in swamps in vast quantities, but mountainous regions and mining communities would have access to them. Forest communities would rely heavily on wood, desert communities would have sandstone etc....
Different communities would survive on different food resources as well.

What 'cha think?
That sounds a little intense lol, but its not unlike that already.
Mushrooms are really plentiful in swamps. Grass/wheat in grasslands. Sugarcane in deserts, ores in mountains (visible rock) flowers are in grasslands(?) and forests. Its nice how you can find things that "dont belong" in other biomes but they are definately rarer in some biomes over others.

I certainly did think of that, however, we have had squid long before we've had the ocean biome, they are technically an area specific mob. In that they only spawn in water underneath sea level.
I made a thread about this a while ago but it was ignored.
I'm sorry to hear that.

I think any mob should spawn in Mushroom Biomes. However if they do they get Mushroomified.
Pigs become Black Truffle Pigs, Sheep become mushroom sheep and drop brown wool, etc.
While I defiantly like this suggestion, the topic at hand isn't the mushroom biome, but mobs / features that are unique to certain biomes.

Actually, ALL the passive mobs also only spawn in specific biomes now, not well known but it happened before 1.9 haha
on topic, hell yes, good times a coming.

Do explain, I am curious how this new spawning system works . . . I haven't seen many (or perhaps any) threads going into full detail about it.

Not sure the specifics, but sheep and cows only spawn in specific biomes. I'm fairly certain that's the way it is anyway. lol I could have been mistaken.

I curious whatever happened to that old photo Notch posted a long time ago of mobs that were going to be possibly implemented, I believe there was an orangutan an ostrich and some other things on it.
(I think it was around the halloween update of alpha.)
