I think this will add quite a bit to minecraft. Of course I will still have my main multiplayer server and main singleplayer map.... then I will have my hardcore map
I imagine I will be playing on hardcore the most. The idea of an actual challenge in Minecraft intrigues me!
It needs.....its own bragging rights. Like....perhaps a means of bragging rights.
Hardcore mode is pretty much for the players who want to live on the edge (in a way). And pretty much are confident they won't ever be blown to smithereens or melted in lava.
Now...I have to admit, this mode is pretty interesting, and it would be in a way "exciting" to actually fight for your character's life rather than just know you'll respawn later.
I know people will complain about this mode...but no one will force them to try it. (We'll get idiots who complain about it either way) But...the thing is..."If you go hardcore, you can't complain you accepted the risks involved with the mode"
(If you enabled that in your server properties.) And that would just be something for friends, not for a public server, where someone just could join on the purpose to die.
Yeah but one person dies and it kills everyone else? That's no fun.
EDIT: That sounds way more hardcore. Team survival! Brilliant!
I love how this is supposed to be a discussion about an optional feature and people are posting something to the effect of "omg this is going to be lame."
So what if it's not popular? It's an option, and it gives you a whole new way to play the game (I.E. punishment for dying if you want it)
Yes please to this! I will mine the deepest mines, and build the most massive builds, and kick ALL of the ass. Hardcore sounds like a rush. I've never felt more inspired and stoked to play, no jokes. Also, screenshots, and paying attention to time, so you know how long you survive.
EDIT: Also, permaban or world deletion on SMP could be an option. Both would be fun, I think.
In addition, I think instead of deleting your world, it should make it so you can only explore the world as is, not generate any new chunks, etc. So like an unplayable world. That way you DO get a trophy. :smile.gif:
Potentially day ruining addition to 1.9
Definitely makes creepers 100x scarier
Then dont use it...DERP
Sounds fun

Epic Let's Play's incoming.
Also epic survival fortresses!
Lets hope he realizes that it shouldn't be something you can change after world generation.

Death = Permaban?
Yeah but one person dies and it kills everyone else? That's no fun.

That could be like your trophy!
"This is how far I got/how much I built before I died."
That or everyone would record live videos of themselves playing.
