dude. its made of bricks from hell, were there are fire demons and bipedal pigs. and you get it to be a fence by puttig pices next to eachother. all of this considered, you SHOULD be able to tell its not real, and thus it dosent have to look real. oh and by the way. everything is made of squares to prove my point here
If no one says anything, then Mojang will think it's fine the way it is. They can't anticipate the reaction to everything. To use your own argument, it is a pre-release, therefore we should be giving greater amounts of criticism.
To clarify, stop whining about it. Reporting is different.
Fence/fens/
Verb: Surround or protect with a fence.
Noun: A barrier, railing, or other upright structure, typically of wood or wire, enclosing an area of ground to mark a boundary, control access, or prevent escape.
1) Definition of "fence" is not specific as to what constitutes a fence. A very large wall could be referred to as a big fence if one would so choose.
Nice laugh. It's a barrier that's a structure which is enclosing an area of ground to make a boundary, control access, or prevent escape. A fence it's "typically" made out of wood or wire, but that doesn't mean it always is. Catch up on some English please.
Yes, I like your suggestion. Now instead of having windows with a bar in them in the nether dungeons, we should instead just have walls with holes, which are filled with wall.

It doesn't mean it has to be what is described by the OP, either. The term fence is not set in stone (pardon the pun). English is my native language and I am fluent. You, on the other hand, seem to like pointing out when someone makes a mistake only to foolishly make one yourself.
I wanted a normal fence that looks like the wooden we have now but I wanted a darker look... without having to resort to texture packs or modding the texture myself.

The term FENCE is not static. It is dynamic.
It doesn't have to be but you can consider it a fence, even though it's shaped like a wall. Who said that it HAD to be only made out of brick? My god, gotta love people who think they can talk smart but in reality fail at making a point. Honestly, what are you trying to prove? :mellow.gif:

Well, it's a game, yeah, Minecraft is: a game.
It is not supposed to be a simulation of our reality (hence the Creepers), so the fact that you see difference between a brick fence in real life and Minecraft's brick fence is perfectly normal and acceptable.
For example, take a look at ''slimeballs''. Their name implies that it is a ''ball'', yet it is made out of pixels, so it is not a ''ball'' per say, like it would be in real life, and no one is complaining about that.
I understand what you mean, but I don't think it's appearance should be changed. As it's naturally used, it's intended not as much fence but more as bars and pillars inside the Nether. Perhaps a different name, but to change their appearance would prompt a rethink on the look on the nether ruins, and lets be honest, that's the one thing no one should be complaining about. Perhaps an alternative object that would work like you desire, I can see that, but how it is would undo a fair amount of work on the Nether ruins generation code, and leaving it as is but changing the "fence" would close all the windows, which is not nice. I personally hope it doesn't change, although maybe a new name could be best, but like I said a complete appearance change is not going to help. A nice brick fence sounds nice though, but lets wait for the release to add the little things like that.

Honestly, you really don't care that Notch just took the model of a wooden fence and retextured it? Err or was it Jeb? Who cares, either way it's just a lame way to save time. As a mason, I've realized what they have done so I'm sharing this information to you and everyone who's reading. Quit letting Notch be so lazy, I'm sure if most of us complain he'll think about redoing it.
Those tables we got are placeholders, now this is also a placeholder? God forbid that Notch would actually put in little more effort with all that money he's making.

Yes because its so important that these netherbrick fences look like the one in the picture.
Hell go into Minecraft folder, not sure where to alter it, but change the name from "Netherbrick Fence" to "Netherwood Fence"
Its not something thats going to be changed anytime soon. Its not a placeholder. Jeb/Notch needed something like regular fences to place into the windows of the fortress things. Is it looks like bars that actually look good in them.
I dont want them redone. They are fine the way they are.
Just for your info. I am sure you are probably the only one who is going to complain about this part of 1.9
Is that you again? Get a life trenix. The game is in beta and all you do is complain about the most retarded things. Why not complain about something viable instead of melon colors and FENCES. WOULD IT REALLY MAKE SENSE TO GIVE US A WALL LABELED "FENCE" !?!?!
I mean seriously? Who cares?
If you want a fence that looks like that in the picture, or close to it, then find some clay.
As for me. I like netherbrick fences!
You may be a mason, but masonry in the hellish landscape of the nether is not practiced the same.

One of the biggest features of a fence is that it is a single block that can't be jumped over. Surprised you left that out.

So this is perfect

Pre-release
Get over it. It's okay Notch makes placeholders.

Those
and since we have iron bars this is my preference of fences now http://www-personal.umich.edu/~hamms/processes/3dmodels/images/fence_brick.jpg
I'll prolly make the fences black to match or use stone bricks vs nether or red
