So, I'm sure I'm not the first one to notice this but I didn't see any threads, is it just me or does Nether Wart sounds completely inappropriate? lol I like the name, it made me laugh, and I think it's a good name for something from the nether, but Notch has stated he wants to be kid friendly and I'm not sure this qualifies...

I see what you're getting at, but sexually transmitted diseases aren't going to be the first thing to come to kids minds. The Nether is a place, and wart is used in the names of lots of flora irl.

Me too. It has a nice creepy connotation, like the sort of thing mean old witch would need to make some kind of potion. Which makes me think ... we need some kind of newts and bats as well.

Wonderful, And yeah I hope this is something telling us that potions will be coming soon, Notch HAS stated a couple times he wanted bat enemies but they would be too annoying... I'd do it if you could pull their wings off and make potions! xD
And rats, like in mo creatures, except instead of actively attacking you they'd go inside your chests and steal food. And lizards mmhmm mmhmm and cave spiders would drop venom, and you could mix it all together in a sheep's stomach, with ghast tears too... umm what else xD
