Anyone else getting a total Oblivion vibe?

EDIT: Also, it really seems like notch is turning survival into an RPG. I think we need a plain ol survival mode in the future.

Its been posted (and buried) a few times already, but its not a bug. Jens tweeted that they are testing orbs for SMP and that is why we are seeing it.
