Is this not coming back in 1.9? Or at the very least, are animals being allowed to spawn normally again? Without one or the other, several major items have become limited, nonrenewable resources, and that is quite detrimental to the game.

Keep in mind it's only a pre release, just like 1.8 pre release didn't have giant mushrooms, it is possible (and very probable) it is not complete :smile.gif:

I was expecting breeding for 1.9 as well, but feedback so far implies it has been delayed again - while the spawning is still nerfed. That's a bad combo for most people, but I suppose it will pound the idea into peoples heads to treat animals as a more important resource than they once were.

More Ocean Life: Kelp, Coral, Crabs and Jellyfish; Coconut Palm trees for beaches and islands. Terrain Generation Changes: Which biomes and world-building features are most in need of change?

I really hope so, because it was a really bad move on Mojang's part to change the animal spawning without giving us a way to repopulate them.

What it's really done is make people stop using animals at all, in my experience. No one's touching cows or pigs, and I've been cheating in feathers to make arrows so I don't get rid of every chicken in my area.
Maybe they're trying to encourage nomadic bum lifestyles, wandering from place to place, killing whatever you find, bedding down in villages... lol Yeah, it was horribly annoying of them to do this, but they need to see how the code interacts with other stuff so it's in to stay...

Its probably closer to complete than not tbh. Only a few minor things were added in the official release of 1.8 from the pre-release.
People need to be more vocal about this animal breeding thing. Within one day every sheep, pig, chicken and cow was either dead or shorn within five thousand blocks of the spawnpoint on my server. This meant that anyone who missed the initial land rush had a difficult time getting started.
Before you say, "but you can just explore more" Most properly managed servers limit how far you can explore, so that does not help.

So... in the meantime they break our ability to make food, because they want to make sure the code works? Why not, oh I don't know, make animals spawn normally until they're ready to turn us into ranchers? It doesn't take a genius to think of things like that.

No, they just half started it and then were distracted by something shiny. Thus is the story of Minecraft's development.

I understand what you're saying, but holding on to the code they have now could either mean having to redo it when it comes in or have tons of bugs with conflicts with other new features if there's something you know is going to be in the final and you don't want to lose it it's best to stay, what they SHOULD have done was not released anything until it was complete, but whiners got to them. lol
I think that, with the Adventure Update, Mojang tried to bite off more than they could chew. Once they finish 1.10 (or whenever the adventure update is finished) I think this will all be better. Just be patient. And, for the never the last time, THIS IS A PRE-RELEASE!
