The old MCF has this feature, it is that small diamond next to the bucket icon, indicating that you have already posted there.
I personally think it is a very useful feature, be it for staff or regular members, for example I was trying to find a thread where I posted in a few hours ago and I could not find it, and we only have 2 pages of topics in this section O;o I had to go to my profile and search through my latest posts to find said thread.
If you don't know what I'm talking about, here's a picture: it's that small diamond next to the bucket.

It's already a thing, albeit it's very subtle. Notice the yellow layer under the cube thing for the topic I have commented in.

I like the bucket system better my self its more minecraft-ish or maybe something be can done with blocks in minecraft, Dirt block no new posts, Dirt block with grass new post. obsidian Lock post, Red stone dust pinned post, minecraft piston moved post, could be more fun and fresh?

That is exactly what I was thinking actually. The current icons look too "sleek" if I may add. Since it's obvious we're going for "blocks" as a theme, your suggestion could work.
