I'm sure I'm not the first to say that, but for what it's worth, here's my unfavorable experiences with the editor since the change.
1. Hitting Enter now skips two lines as opposed to one. Why is this the case? Why was this change made?
2. Quoting posts now nests quotes. I know this is matter of preference, but it makes posts needlessly long that you have to scroll through when people usually use it to reply just to the very post they are quoting. Simplicity is better with this. Why was this change made? I have noticed we have a per-user setting for this in our profile.
3. I prefer not using the rich editor especially when dealing with images and links. It's so much easier for me that way. With the new editor, it does not seem to remember my preference not to use the rich editor. Every time, it defaults to using the rich editor, and if I ever go to preview my post (which I often do), it again reverts back to the rich editor and requires me to toggle it off again, even if I had just done that! Why does the new editor not remember my preference for this like the old one did?
4. This new editor seems to struggle when dealing with posts with any sizable amount of content. I'm not sure what's going on here, but trying to edit my first post here was a nightmare! I just attempted to make a simple edit to it a moment ago; merely adding the image of the map. When I went to hit the enter key to clear some space for it between two paragraphs, the entire browser lost focus and froze for a moment (my song/video in another tab did too) before it made it took focus again and reflected edit. I thought it was a limited hiccup, but trying to paste the link of the image in also took a moment, which made it grab my attention. I tried further test edits to that post, and with each of those thing, it again froze momentarily (some more than others), although my song/video in another tab didn't freeze anymore, and I also noticed my PC's CPU fan slightly spin up for a half a second, which it usually does when it's utilization goes up. So, I opened task manager and experimented with further test edits, and as the noise of the fan lead me to believe, there was a CPU spike (where the one core/thread Firefox was using was seemingly maxed out) every time an edit was attempted. Why is hitting enter in a text field on a forum causing CPU spiking and noticeable delays? Granted, I haven't noticed it in posts with lesser content, the old editor didn't behave that way. It seems this new one struggles with performance, and, for some reason, causes heavy CPU use on our PCs as soon as it has to deal with a bit of content.
5. I literally just noticed this one clicking my link above. Does it not open links in a new tab anymore?
My unfavorable experiences with profiles are that fields seem to have been removed and/or not shown where they used to. Also, the icon for indicating if a user is online partly covers their avatar now. Why were these changes made?
My unfavorable experience with the theme is rather minor. If you look at the main page though, the title headers have a Minecraft themed dirt graphic, and on the forums, we have something different. Why the inconsistency? A lot of the icons are changed to more generic looking, non Minecraft themed, stuff that isn't as identifiable, but identifiability aside (which would come in time as we learn them), why the change from Minecraft themed icons to non-Minecraft themed icons?
All that being said, please note that I am not, overall, unhappy with the changes. Sorry if I seem to come across that way. This thread just focuses on my unfavorable parts of my experiences in order to get them out there (if they weren't already, as I'm sure some are). Other than these things, I think it has potential and was meant to be headed in the right direction. I just think a lot of the features/behavior weren't kept to match that of the old, and it's causing a lot of the bad impressions.
Cool. I'm aware you can hit Shift+Enter to make it drop down one line as before, but I was wondering why this behavior changed to begin with. More strangely, I am testing this now and it's only dropping one line when hitting the Enter key alone. Any ideas? Does hitting Shift, ever, at all, make it always do that from then on or something?
4. There are some issues with the editor freezing/locking up, I believe citricsquid noted this
Well, I haven't noticed it usually (it maybe feels a tad more sluggish but not that bad), but it wasn't a random occurrence. With that one post, it was consistent/reproducible. Is the new editor known then to behave like that when more content is involved?
5. The author of the post can set links to open in a new tab when adding a link use the link properties available in the Rich Editor
Normally I suppose I'm all for more options, but I really don't see why an option not to open in a new tab is needed, much less by default? Isn't the standard with most forums software to behave by having links in posts open in a new tab? I guess I'll just have to try to remember to get used to middle clicking for insurance, then.
Sorry to sound impatient, but I tried to add more content to this post, and it's worse than I thought. Trying to make any change results in too long of delays. If I want to do anything with that post, I basically have to copy it all and make the changes in a third party editor on my PC, then paste it back in and save it (which I have yet to actually try so hopefully it goes though). When the editor is so unusable that I have to result to using another editor, it sort of speaks for itself, doesn't it?
I know that post has a lot of content (actually, subtracting the pictures, it's not even that much), but again, I've never had that issue with the old editor nor on other forums. It seems like posts with a lot of content are really in bad shape here.
Edit: I noticed this problem (very sluggish response) seems to be way more prominent while viewing the BBCode markup. It's actually mostly fine in the rich editor. I would have figured the rich editor would be the slower of the two, if anything, but I don't know.

Yes, I noticed the option to remove nested quotes right before/as you replied.
Yay! This has probably been my biggest bother with the new editor.

Yes, it does for the points about the editor (I'm not sure if I edited the others in after you first saw this), and thank you.
