News: DataCards 1.0 is now released!
DataCards
DataCards is a mod and a peripheral that adds NFC-like cards, writers, and scanners to ComputerCraft. If your not sure what ComputerCraft is, read up on computercraft.info before installing and using this mod.
Getting Started
To get started using DataCards, you'll want to make two things. You need at least one Data Card Writer and Data Card Scanner. To set up the Writer, just connect it to a Computer with the normal peripheral procedure then use .write() with a String inside to write to your Data Card.
What Data Card do I use though, there are four of them? Well, if your just starting out, you'll probably want to make a simple Data Card (or for slightly more resources, make yourself a Re-Writable Data Card). Or if your not a fan of holding something in your inventory every time, we got the two variations of Data Helmets also.
Now comes the part of scanning your Data Cards. You'll want to connect a Computer to the Data Card Scanner, then wait for an os.pullEvent(). When the Scanner finds a written Data Card/Helmet, it will trigger an event on the computer, containing the event type dataCardEvent and the String written to it. From there, you can do whatever you want with the data, make a Data Card protected door, use different cards to control your Computers, just to name a few.
