Since I've already typed up a brief description for the worth1000 contest, I'll just paste that here...
The Hungarian Parliament, the largest parliament building in all of Europe, built in Minecraft classic creative. I'm not 100% done with it all as their is still the interior and surrounding area, but I can only work so fast on such a big project. I began the project back in September and ended up just using the Hungarian Parliament as inspiration for building, but wasn't extremely happy with the final result. I took a break for a bit and returned to this back in December, and have done all of the following work within one month.
It isn't exactly scaled perfectly, but is still extremely accurate to the original. The specs of the building measure out to be 459 long by 281 blocks wide and about 160 blocks high.
The whole thing is built in game, along with the help of some custom server commands. I used Google Warehouse's model to get somewhat of a proper scale and shape, and used a bunch of photos from a bunch of angles to get in the details.
The Exterior is Done! (sorta)
Starting the Interior
I'm nearing completing this and am now not sure if this will be my last big project solely for creative mode. I realize the fading popularity and recognition of classic, but have also seen its potential. What I maybe plan next to do in Minecraft, is to create a continent.. Elder Scrolls: Oblivion inspired with cities and all the things in between. That will come much later though, if I even start it at all, so we'll see.
For those that want to see it ingame, click here and use /map Saiko after you join the server.
that is amazing! unfortunately an oblivion map is much too large for classic unless you have a godlike server, and without the server software in beta, the terrain would be much too hard to recreate. I attempted to make it myself :s.
