Hello everyone! Aside from playing Minecraft 60% of the time, I sometimes take a break to produce music. If you could check some of it out, I'd be greatly appreciated.
I do drum and bass mainly, but branch into other areas too, such as dubstep, electronica, dance, and hardstyle. The album is completely free to download; just click 'Buy Now' and enter $0 as the price. If you enter anything other than zero, I'll consider it a donation, which are always welcome. :wink.gif:
I like to think that whenever you beat an AI in any videogame, it gets sent to whatever equivalent of Hell computers have. I can only presume that this would be Aperture Laboratories from Portal. May GLaDOS have mercy on them.
Do you have any material from back when you'd been making music for about a year? I'd be very interested in comparing my musical ability with yours, when you'd had as much experience as I currently have. :smile.gif:
I most certainly do. On my current YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/skylancemusic) I post some of my more current songs in production. However, on my other channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/universeZ3R0) I still have some of my really early work. This is the channel I use for anything other than music (ie Minecraft), mind you.
Here's a song from the latter channel that I made just under a year after I started. :smile.gif:
Wow, some really good stuff here! I recently downloaded FL studio, it's complicated as hell! You wouldn't happen to have any links to some good tutorials would you? :tongue.gif:
EDIT: Really liking "Winter in Retroville" it's got a really great chiptune vibe!
EDIT 2: All of your stuff kinda has that chiptune feel to it! I actually really like it! Downloading now :smile.gif:

This is actually pretty good. I wasn't expecting much to be honest but I'm liking it, sounds like chiptune. Good job :smile.gif: Did you buy FL 9 and if so would you say it's worth it for someone just getting into music-making? Or should I go with Audacity :I

Yes, I did buy FL Studio 9. As for recommending it... I'd suggest using the demo version and seeing if you like it. The full version is a pretty big commitment money wise, so it's something you definitely need to think about. You don't want to spend $500 on it then realise that you're not really a music person.
Hmm... I like it. I do a bit of this myself- my friends and I put out an electronic CD recently.

"I often think about that old metaphor, the one that says we are all islands on a wide sea. Especially these days, now that things are more difficult than before and the world appears to be harsher than we once imagined it to be. We are all like islands, the philosopher said. Perhaps it's true. Yet I cannot help but remember an older saying, scratched on a cave wall somewhere by a long-forgotten prophet: in the end, the sea will claim everything."
Dude, It's arts and creativity, and it's FREE. If he charged cash as opposed to accepting donations, then it's an issue. Otherwise, It's no different than putting a Paypal donate button on your map.

This guy right here knows what he's talking about. I simply do it as a hobby, and hope that you can get nothing but enjoyment out of listening to my songs. :happy.gif:
Oh, I made a song for my girlfriend too. I'll probably get that on Soundcloud soon.
Rules are rules and they say no external site advertising. Promotion = advertising so please either delete this thread or mods will
Wrong again- the rules clearly state that only commercial sites are a problem. NON-COMMERCIAL sites, like free Bandcamp downloads, are all in the clear.

Ah...the wonders of finding another musician/composer out there...
My brother (16 by the way) uses Finale Notepad for his composing. Simple program, and not as hard on the wallet.
I remember on of his first tunes, while it was a really simple jazz/blues tune, it really sounded good. But he had to restart it several times because he forgot to add in a part. I haven't seen much of him composing lately, going to have to make him use it and recreate the song so I could upload it here (te he) so all of you can hear it.
*listens in head to the tune mentioned* Nice work by the way! You remind me of the YT composer BowieZ, who has made several songs and remixes of others, plus some piano playing and a chiptune. Good work, keep it coming!

Thanks! I'm not sure if that chiptune-ish style is intention, but I do like video games, so maybe that's it. :happy.gif:
Made a new track too. Drumstep this time.
