The Voxel Box server admin and all around nice guy
But now some honest words: This is kind of like the best Minecraft Server I have ever seen. The builds are awesome, the detailing is awesome, the people are awesome and the awesomeness is awesome.

What does "off-peak" mean?
Would it be possible in the next release/version to make it so that size (/b 13 etc.) is measured in diameter, not radius?
The way it is now unnecessarily reduces precision. Going from /b 3 to /b 2 changes diameter from 6 to 4. What about 5? It is not possible to do (or at least I don't know any way). but sometimes, you just need a 5 diameter brush...
If size was for diameter in the first place, then you could be twice as precise in brush selection, without any drawbacks that I can think of.

Przerwap, upon looking at some code I had just written: "...Gav... That's not how programming works."

You are incorrect sir.
/b 3 is a 7 diameter because it adds to a center block
/b 2 is a 5 diameter
And how would you propose you aim even diameters? Which of the 4 center blocks would it decide to be where you are aiming?

The top, southwest one? I don't know. It doesn't matter which, but one would just always be the one that lines up with the aim. That should be good enough. After all, there are only three reasons I can think of for why you'd need the extra precision, and this solution is good enough for any of them:
1) For making a really specifically sized dome or something to fit perfectly with the rest of a build. If you are building domes, etc. with that close of a tolerance, you can probably afford to take the time to figure out where to place a target block to have it be in the correct upper southwest corner.
2) You are doing something more organic. I originally thought of this while building those tentacles higher up on this page ^ and wanted to have them taper down more smoothly, which would require stepping down by 1 diameter. But this of course would also be relevant if you're making a warty surface on a dragon, or sciencey bubbles in a big vat of goo, or random looking holes for cheese or airstrike damage, etc. etc. In these situations, the precision is helpful to make things look more varied and thus more realistic (due to having more options to choose from in your brush sizes), but exact aim / which block is the middle is not much of an issue.
3) Any of a variety of reasons why somebody might just need/prefer an even-number-diameter sphere. For example, you want to make a big boulder or whatever generic sphere that doesn't need to fit anything too exactly, however you really hate those little 1x1 blocks that always hang on the end of spheres currently that you have to go back and clean up constantly. OR you don't care where the boulder goes, but you do know you want a double door leading into it. Etc. etc.

Hei,
does anyone have any use for a gothic cathedral in a town or similar? I built this one, but at the moment i don't have time to plan a city. Anyhow it was a pity if it just collects dust in the dry docks, where it is now.
-snip-
wow, i really want to see that in person.... my current build is similar... i'm sure there's a town in voxel that needs such an awesome build
Simply because it needs to be said, I have read Featherblade's book.
It's excellent, with a couple errors here and there.
Also, on Ridgedog's page on the wiki, where I am yelled at,
that should be prefaced with my text relating to me shouting at him first (in hysteria).
Also, the build in question was insta-deleted because ItsNotKuurrsten helped me with it. D=
That and I needed to post something. I will continue relogging occasionally to see if I
have been unbanned. 'Nuff said.

I sent Ridgedog a message concerning my apparent unbanning from the Voxel Box.
He responded with a Chicken Marsala recipe.
At the moment it's not really possible to play due to lag or server full anyway :smile.gif:
Will continue my city when there will have less players :smile.gif:
Can't wait to see it Elloa! I swam my way over to Voxel-Sur-Mer the other day and i really like the color palate and the piers jutting into the sea. Great coastal community in the making! How large are you planning it to get?
day 3 on being a guest in this server and ive got hours to start and complete my whitelist project. but the server is pack full of guests atm and the whole day for that matter unfortunatly

You can also build on your own server and either share the savefile/screenshots.
Can you please release the map to the public?:smile.gif: You have problaby been asked this 100 times, but the server is so full nowadays. Impossible to get in. Are you going to release it to the public or not?:smile.gif: Please do it
Hey guys. I'm thinking of joining this server so I went ahead and downloaded the texture pack. The only thing is, the Mac instructions need me to put a .zip file into my texture packs folder, but sadly my internet browser (Safari) automatically unzips the file and I can't seem to get it to stay zipped. Is there any way around this?
As odd as this seems, I was unbanned after being told I could never rejoin.
I came on yesterday afternoon and fooled around for a little while, and reintroduced myself.
Now, having come back on, Ridgedog is back and I have been rebanned,
I think Featherblade unbanned me for the nice comment on his story,
but I'm confused because I believe it would require all admin consent to undo bans.
Also, I'm not even sure Featherblade has access to ban lists.
In general, I am simply confused. I have a planned out build, and I am ready to build it.
I don't have a save file to do it on (requires a lot of materials), and I don't know of any convenient,
non-Voxel-Box-hating servers. The other server I was invited to said they had bad blood with The Voxel.
I ask for you to make up your minds, or let me try one build.

Wow, I just can't seem to get onto the server even to just try it out. Does anyone know the ideal time (with the most admins on, for more admins = more server slots) for me to be able to get on the server? I have the texture pack all ready but I just need to see the server now!
i got on this server and was wondering about the lag when some guys said it was because of some guy named captain twinkle and they said if he had sent me i said no and that i had seen this place on a website about 5 months ago the said no and that i was a lair and asked me when i had first played it i said about a month ago they said but you said five, called me a liar, and banned me before i could explain a saw it 5 months ago and actually played it a month ago. now i am wondering if i could get an unban because even if i was lying( which i was not)its an unfair ban its simply about who told me about the server! I don't know what or who this captain twinkle is but i just want to be un banned..thanks

Ya, ever since cpt sparklez' video we have had a huge influx of guests. It's crazy man. Usually during the night (11:00pm - 5:00am PST) is when the server is most empty, although those aren't really ideal times for a lot of people.
One thing you can do if you're really itching to get on the server is create something in Single Player and post some screenshots and possibly a video.

Ok, thanks! I'll try to get started on a building in SP then. And I DO have to admit, I did here about this server from Captain Sparklez. I hope I'm at least able to become a member soon. :biggrin.gif:

Perhaps if your up for it
It could be placed in BloomingFields seeing as how it is made of mostly stone.

Make more slots,And i can't download/open zip files so i can't download texture pack's
So :C
O.o i keep getting this?
