We already discussed the walling of the city and it is a good idea. there should be disctrics that are walled up. for example the new city and the old hq area should be walled up. If you can change the damage on and off I think the walls should be built before the monsters are turned on. Also the armory would be the most guarded area and there needs to be a safe haven for us near the armory so if all else fails we can just hold out in the armory.
I would like to help build the walls around the city. and I could design some defences aswell. Also we should have a last stand mechanism where you flip the switch and some tnt blows up the area surounding the armory and safe haven and exposes the lava underneath. and sand falls around the area creating an extra wall around the safe area. I could think of some other Ideas I just want to know what people think about that.
BTW me and someone else (sry I forgot your name) have already chose a site for the Colosseum and we are just waiting for permission.
Ah okay. That's awesome. Are you new? In that case: Hi!
If you're not new, then "Hi!" anyway.
I hope you've chosen a large place, because the Colosseum, although not completely a 1:1 copy, needs to be of epic proportions. I support it obviously, but I can't permit anything :smile.gif:
I'll gladly help constructing it when/if the building is commenced!
He's not exactly new, and I've discussed alongside them.
I was against the big wall, because monsters will leave us alone if we're not standing on the lighted border.
The only "wall" we need is to have every room lit up - In case you didn't know, monsters don't spawn 500 miles away, then charge after you.
They spawn ANYWHERE and EVERYWHERE there isn't light. For example, some empty dark lot, or the basement of a library.
Also, the walls would just be a pain to remove/add every time we expand.
As for the Colosseum, yes, I do support that, but I really think it should be away from town center.
I mean, a giant Colosseum in the middle of a house district?
The harbor is going to get a lot of attention, so I think we should put it there (Don't worry, the harbor is very very close to the town).
Probably next to the training center.
And speaking of training centers,
Yes, we probably do need it right now.
As soon as the server gets up, we're going to lay down lots and start constructing it ASAP (Not near the town, near the harbor for the reasons I said while in the server).
YES, we are turning mobs and PVP on! Building a city in the Nether would be pointless without ghasts and pigmen. As would guards.
Speaking of which, if the ghasts/pigmen "overrun" us while in the Nether, I will temporarily open up guard applications.
Edit: And Dvarvaro, yes, I do have precedents. I'm particularly interested in one at Gdansk; it's technically medieval, but the basic concept is the same as roman cranes.

This man really is a genius. Never have i seen such a clear and well written forum post.
As soon as we expand into the nether, we must be sure to cover ALL surfaces with halfsteps (or glass). After some testing I have found that mobs do not spawn on either of them. I always cover the floors of my nether citadels with halfsteps for both functionality and aesthetics.
Simply lighting all surfaces with torches will NOT prevent spawning in the nether, unlike on the surface.

Just my two cents.
Thanks for the two cents, but we knew about the torches.
Will double-half blocks work? Because you can't exactly build on half-blocks.
My gaming computer is completely dead right now, so unfortunately not any time soon. luckily though, my birthday is on December 1st, so I will keep my fingers crossed. Also, I am looking to purchase a bamboo tablet for my Netbook (which I am currently typing on) which will make my art more easier to achieve (Be it designing new skins for the server to full blown works of art dedicated to the server. At the moment, I can only log onto the server through this anti-gaming computer, which leads to some excruciating lag.

Hey man I was wondering If I could come back! I miss the server and it's members. I'm really hoping to get back. Oh and I was always on man. It's just you were never on when I was on. So I kept logging off cause I needed to talk to you.
I probably wont get on today if the server is not up in like 5 minutes so I guess the station is waiting again. And for anybody who wants to help I'm redesigning the station so please don't build on the walls. Thanks. Also what is the height limit for the area where the station is?

Look in the "BUILDING COMMISSIONS" place, or just look at the height of the other buildings next to it.
is the city going to be open for tourists eventually?
Yes, it has been announced that we're giving up the save file some time next month, maybe two months, maybe never.
This probably won't be a public server due to the high-maintenance it will require, but it is turning into a Private RP server after we've well accomplished our purpose.

i was just curious about how it looks since i hear about all these awesome creations.

Or at least someone made a push, because I was just on a server running hey0 and falldamage at the same time.

If mobs "OLOLOL INFILTAEET" then we can just hide in random buildings until they de-spawn at daytime.
"Last Stand" would sort of be a waste.
EDIT:
Also, we don't need to "defend" anything.
No mobs can alter blocks but Creepers, and they only do that when you're standing right next to them.
