CivilizationCraft is a simple community-run server. That means the players (you) run the server, and guide it along a course that they plan out! The ultimate goal is to have thriving civilizations with towns and counties made up of many different people. At the moment, there are 3 towns, Anvil, Bruma, Netherland, CastleVale, and Soblovia, each with their own structure and economy, but the perks don't end there. In addition to no admin interference, (unless rules are broken), town leaders and donators are allowed to vote in scheduled town meetings on what the course the server should take. Topics range from who should be perma-banned/unbanned, who should be promoted to Commoner, and whether or not to add a new Guild or Town.
Big Update! (Taken straight from the site's news updates)
At the moment, what a new player can do on the server can be summed up in a couple of steps:
1.)Join the server
2.)Make new friends
3.)Join town
4.)Apply for commoner
5.)Get accepted
6.)Get Commoner friends
7.)Start town
8.)Vote in Town Council
9.)...Now what?
With this new update, all that is about to change. Trade between towns will begin to pop up. Rivalries and Alliances will form. Bandits and Raiders will become a thing to fear. The server is about to get 100x more interesting. This innovation that will take CivilizationCraft down a new path can be described in one five-letter word: Taxes.
At the moment, Towns have almost no fears, no worries. There is no need to consume resources, so noone ever has anything to do. With taxes, towns will have to be constantly working to make quota. Now, you might be asking yourself, "Why would I want to pay taxes?" The answer is simple, taxes keep your town's protections up. If a town doesn't pay their weekly tax on time, they loose their faction, leaving their town exposed to raider and griefers, as well as many other outside threats.
Each week a town is expected to produce, per person:
6 stacks of Wood
3 stacks of Iron
12 stacks of Bread
1 filled map with the town in the center (per town)
At first this may seem like a little much, but if we were to give the players a day off and only have them play for 6 days out of the week, that would be; 1 stack of wood, 1/2 a stack of iron, 2 stacks of Bread, daily (24 hours). That's more than reasonable.
Now the issue with this is, what if you don't have a good mine, or you don't have enough land to farm all the wheat needed? This is where specialization comes in. Just as in real life, people choose 1 thing to do, to optimize, rather than having to do everything themselves. To save time and effort, towns can specialize, producing hundreds of stacks of, let's say, Wood. Then another town could do nothing but mine. The two towns could work out a trade, the Wood town would trade enough wood to fill the Mining Town's quota, and in exchange the Mining town would give enough Iron to fill the Wood towns's quota.
This optimization comes at a price though, the two towns will now have to find a way to transport materials to one another. To paint a better picture, let's imagine Town A needs 3 Wood, and Town B needs 3 Iron. So they agree to send people to deliver the goods. But Town C has a bunch of retards as town members and needs 2 Wood and 2 Iron and don't have anything to trade for it. So they decide to to steal the materials. Or if they don't want to get caught, hire Bandits/Raiders to steal it for them, in exchange, the Bandits/Raiders get to keep 1 Wood and 1 Iron. This would add a whole new dynamic to the game.
Alright so now your town has all the reasources needed, now what? Delivery.
On Saturday, at noon and the following midnight GMT, there will be a 15 minute window for towns to deliver their goods to a shrine being built at spawn as you read this. If the towns do not have their weekly taxes at that time, their town will be disbanded, even if the are only missing one log, or are just one second late, NO EXCEPTIONS. Bandits and Raiders will make this delivery even more challenging, as there is no rule against it on te servers. Perhaps Town A doesn't like Town C so they decide to attack Town C's "convoy" and force the town to disband. Or maybe Town B doesn't have enough to make quota, but Town A needs their supply of Wood, what then? These are all things that might occur!
Also NEW RULE! If you apply to become a town, you must have a week's worth of taxes before you apply for a Town. If you town gets disbanded, it is also the same as never having one and you will have to reapply, keep that in mind! If you are a donator, this applies to you as well!
Next up; How to Punish Tax Evasion. If you've read up until this point, you might be thinking, I'll just recruit 10 people for my town, and kick them out on Tax Day, and reinvite them the next day. Wrong.
On tax day, as the towns turn in their tax, they will be required to post how many people they will have in their town for the following week, and given a quota based on that number, if that number is exceeded, at ANY time that week, the town will immediately disband and all of the town's paid taxes will be distributed evenly among the existing towns, so there is an incentive for other towns to enforce this rule as well!
Before you panic, this will be implemented January 7th, quota will be your town population that day, so until then, get prepared!
Good luck guys!
Rules
Rules are simple, No mods/X-Rays, No Handouts, and Act Mature.
Guilds
Guilds play a big part in the server as a whole. When a player first joins the server, they will start off as a [Peasant]. In order for the player to become a member of a guild, they must first meet the requirements of the head member of the guild, and accepted into their ranks. In the Guild, they will either be taught by a teacher, or the leader of the guild themself. In order for the player to become a teacher themselves however, they must first speak to the leader of that guild, most likely an [Original], and get taught by them 1-on-1.
Commoner
In order advance and become a [Commoner], a player must simply apply on the website, and be voted in on the next Town Council Meeting. There is no template for applying, we want to see what you come up with!
Towns (Factions)
In addition to training skills, towns (Factions) will also be a large part of the server. In order to start a town (Faction) a player must simply be a [Commoner] or higher, and have 4 other [Commoner]'s that wish to join them. In this town, all the players will need to have is adequate housing for all members and a wall around the town. After an Admin approves the player's town, the leader will be given Permission to start a town (Faction). The towns may only claim the area inside the town walls! Keep in mind, there is no safe place in the server outside of the towns. There will be no plugins such as Lockette or anything similar. In addition, you don't spawn on beds, so being part of a town is very valuable!
Town Politics
Every Saturday, 1am GMT (Friday afternoon for US players), and Sunday, 3pm GMT, representatives from all the different towns on the server will meet on CivilizationCraft's Mumble server to discuss the server as a whole. Topics will range anywhere from what plug-ins should be added or removed, to whether any banned players should be pardoned. Topics may be posted on the forums for discussion.
Donators
In addition to receiving the title [Lord], you will be able to participate in Town Council Votes and start your own, protected area/manor, without having to go through the hassle of starting a town.
