Well, it could be hidden with traps and locks all over the place. Only demons would know where all the traps would be, and only the best explorer could make it into the portal room. Even so, he would have to survive the demons attacking the explorer. Well, to make it harder, maybe only demons can break blocks inside the temple.
Thats what Im saying, any good minecraft player can get passed traps. It should be set to where only demons can break blocks in the temple, or something.

We'd love to do something like that. Unfortunately any plugin with zones seems to F*** up the nether. So either
A.) You guard the temple if you want.
B.) We figure out the nether plugins (Ridiculous
C.) Make the nether portal hidden, and Demons need to guard the secret? As in just not tell any outsiders.

C would probably be the best bet. I also like that idea. That would help against thieves from using their "see through walls" technique.
Got a few questions.
1. What exactly is binding the demons together? What's stopping one demon from going off and doing whatever they want despite the other demons? Which leads to my next question...
2. Who says (at least) one of the demons couldn't be bought? It only takes one demon to let the secret go, and most everything has a price. The secret would be an informational economic good at that point; unless once one demon told someone and that someone just started jabbering about it to everyone and their mother (thus the secret loses most of its value).
3. Assuming that the demons are not 100% evil, mistrustful, xenophobic, etc. then we can also assume that these demons will make friends with people of other races. They shall grow to trust these friends. Rather than buying the secret; these friends could be shown purely out of trust. Charisma and persuasion go a long way (see: USA political elections). The motives of the friend(s) and the demon(s) involved are irrelevant. All that matters is that the event could occur at some point. The likelihood of such an event grows when you consider the number of non-demon players (not that there's necessarily a deficit of demons around).
ZAKK9090 makes a really good set of points. I think to start out it should be a secret, and eventually, I'm sure, the secret will get sold or jabbered about. But to actually get through the portal, there should be a ritual. Now if they can make that to where only demons can do the ritual, and not just another secret, we'd be fine.
Concerning Demons being bought/being convinced to open the nethereal aperture...
Here's an RP solution to this.
Demon society, although not submitted to a complex set of rules, must obey a small very strict code enforced by an order of powerful devils. Among these few rules, one is to never bring one of the realms above to the depths without intent and certitude of corrupting, enslaving or killing the trespasser. Anyone failing to follow this rule can be killed on sight, and if captured alive will be put under trial to be possibly executed, banned or damned to deeper realms of the abyss.
The Tribunal would be composed of devils (as judges) and higher demons under the authority of shady lords of the abyss.
Concerning friendships resulting in a passage to the nether, it's also case per case. For example, Rhea would never accept, while other demons may be accepting in order to enslave/corrupt said partner(s).
Post Scriptum :
Ah, the wait, it is killing me! :unsure.gif:
What exactly is left to do with the server at this point?
We've got an IP for a VPS, I assume a website/forum is established in some basic form, the city has probably been built for a while now, we have a whitelist of sorts, what else is there to do?
Lore?

I can revoke that with one point:
If you're playing as a demon you clearly want to be the only ones in the nether. Telling anyone would ruin your fun.
If you're playing as a demon you clearly want to be the only ones in the nether. Telling anyone would ruin your fun.
Ah but there's a problem with your reasoning.
Motives, values, abstract concepts such as love and fun and freedom, etc. are all subjective (meaning they vary in definition as much as people vary in individuality).
What one person wants may vary greatly from what others want. It may ruin other people's fun, but it cannot be said with certainty that, for any random individual playing as a demon, that it would ruin specifically their fun to allow some non-human into the nether. It may be very much in-line with their idea of fun.
For example:
Suppose one of the demons is business-minded and desires a bit of help for gathering stock from the nether with the aid of a non-demon business partner/associate? They couldn't just ask some other random demon to do their dealings without sacrificing some of their profits for the sake of incentives, and then there's the issue of trusting strangers and whatnot.
There are an infinite amount of scenarios that could involve a demon desiring to bring non-humans into the nether for purposes outside of corruption and the like, but that's not the point.
The point is that subjectivity is the dominating factor here.
haha i agree with all this one demons fun may be another demons bordom but to all of this i have a solution. as you said eilier each class will have a leader in later gameplay but what if the demons had a trusted leader by admins that would allow only them to know the location of the portal? as the title plainly states demons can teleport into the nether so it wouldnt affect the demons if only one demon to know the location of said portal.

I'm honestly trying to do what I wish with the portal being demon only. However, I don't think you guys are taking into consideration that this requires a plugin that I just can't get to work. I've been testing it for a while and it's not working yet.

I'd go for C.
And what if the ritual to make a portal to the nether was itself something that only the Demons know of?

Ouch sorry for that, but may i ask, what is the difference bethween history and bio?
History: Events from the past which lead up to the character s/he is today.
Bio: Personality and traits of the character today.
Hope that helps :tongue.gif:
