wow, very cool dungeon, it was hard to end it without saving lol
found 3 secrets (kinda) rooms with shrooms.
I managed to do the chase very well(after i died once), and its indeed possible.
For the last dungeon, maybe you ould need to use all the keys, for example, ther is lava coming from alot of holes, and each hole have a color, so you have to use your key there to stop the lava before it kills you. You could have lava chasing you while you do that, or jumping challenges.
Had a play though most of the map, some nice ideas but it generally felt like I had to do the same thing 20 times each level (especially the jumping). I found the elevation use in the tree area to be interesting but quickly got fed up of hunting for multiple blocks of sand. In general it was easy to feel lost at times especially when under water a lot resulting in feeling like I was stumbling around to find things instead of progressing.
I'll be interested in seeing your next survival map but you might want to consider generating a map in something like world machine to layout the land (Did this for my generic adventure map to get a good shape), I defiantly recommend trying to spread out the puzzles with combat or exploration areas to keep em feeling fresh. A good size and layout should make it a lot easier to join areas up without being a mess of connections.
Tan Key??
When I enter the gold room there's lots of glass, a little pool, and at the other end a secret mushroom room.
Then there's a cobblestone pillar with a GREEN button at the bottom.
When I press it the water goes down through the lava trap making it easily accessible.
There is no tan key I don't think...

Given this map was small (when i first started it i didn't think it would of been a problem..boy was i wrong XD ) i cant exactly balence combat and puzzles, specially since spawn rate was low. That shouldn't be a problem next time since i plan to use a bigger map. So as far as this map goes, it's mainly puzzle/jumping oriented due to low monster spawn. It was an experiment of sorts and i think it succeeded beyond my expectations given the surge of people inspired by it and new ways to improve it (like your map.)
As things go, i can only do so much with switch puzzles since i don't know how to pull off that "button system" from the Laboratory map. I think i did pretty good doing EVERYTHING by hand up until this dungeon (which i began testing out Omen.)
As for a world generator...wha? --clueless-- You mean like Omen..?

Someone mentioned that type of idea..unfortunately lava does not flow "normally". If i unleash lava in a massive climb to the tower, i would have to find a way of controlling it so it doesnt "create a lava ceiling" and screw the player. Essentially..finite lava which Notch has not made yet. :sad.gif:

I'm colorblind..and my memory sucks. Point being the key you need is in this dungeon. XD
http://www.world-machine.com/ You can make height maps to import into omen with this, some one did a topic about it a while back and its seriously good once you get used to it.
yep, its the green key. and i didnt find it near any gold rooms. its somewhere in the maze.
Remind yourself keys are on top of single glass blocks and they aren't in gold rooms (why would you think that..?). Explore and find the key in the dungeon. I'm not gona walkthrough the map for you guys, that's taking away half the fun. =/

Hmm..thanks, i'll check it out. Though i wonder if Omen can possibly handle a big map, every time i make a big map in Omen the damn thing lags to hell and i gotta force kill it. =/
Audio on this computer's comparatively borked right now, can't watch the development stream, sadly.
As for a second map, I'm thinking you start out in a skywalk-esque area, then descend into the mountains, have a mountain cave dungeon, to the plains, eventually start descending more and have the final dungeon be something akin to a golden fortress or some such underground. Would make a nice counterpoint to the original.

i got the key, and have beaten the done dungeon. hte maze is a clue.
I've begun working The Forge dungeon and by god did i create a monster...
Whoever cried about the mass ammounts of shrooms in my map...congrats, because i just made one hell of a lava deathtrap rush. Not that shrooms will save you from the lava...since lava murderfaces you in 1 1/2 seconds regardless of shroom spamming.
All of you are gona hate this dungeon...i hate it myself. It IS doable but i swear to god it is NOT EASY and there is no viable "short cuts". Using blocks wont help you either since you cant place blocks on the bedrock under the lava. You WILL die. You WILL fail...multiple times. And most importantly, you will rage like no tomorrow.
Welcome to hard mode.
By the way, the current dungeon is not updated to the Forge....you need to go through Sunken Shrine 2. I'm making it that way in case since the update is reletively quick this time. The Beginning does not contain the Forge yet..
I'll be tweaking and dealing with the dungeon a little more..

Maybe..but it would help if the damn map didnt lag along with the other problems i had with it...
Epic map. Reminds me of the NES Zelda game... Anyways, I love it, though.... WHERE IN THE BLAZES IS THE BLACK KEY!?!?!?!? *calms down* or for that matter, the Cyan key.... (in the library at the top of the castle, it opens into a tiny glass box.)
Edited. I hate typos

Black key is in the second dungeon. You need to get onto the wall and hop over to the skywalk to get out of the castle. The Cyan key is not implemented yet.
Hey chaz,
I just loaded the latest map.
I'm not sure you know this.
Cause you seemed pretty calm about it and, well,
THAT DUNGEON IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO %!$@%#@^? HARD!!!!!!!!
LOL sorry...
But it is very hard.

Ahh, ok. I combed that castle so hard.... Little did I know I was deleting my path out.... But, I can't seem to find some of the plugs to unblock the water in dungeon #2.... Oh, and that dungeon is very easy to get stuck in... I got knocked by a horde of skeletons into a large pit... With no way out, I had to build stairs up... the I couldn't find the aquaduct plugs... *sigh* oh well.

Your not looking hard enough. There's only so many places you can look until you find what you're looking for. If your THAT hopeless..watch the videos.

Even though, now that I think about it, it's more of a difficulty WALL now.
