I think you should make a small cliff just before the rooftop, so if the person got stuck, he won't be able to backtrack and lost alot of time, just make a black door so you in the future be able to take another path to get at the beggining of the map.
Ok, a small simples tutorial on omen, most likely its enough to get started.

For everthing else, just mess around with Omen that i am pretty sure that you will be able to learn it all.
Hi it's me again, and I just wanted to say that THAT MAZE WAS HARD!!!!! I had to go on creative mode and block off just about every dead end before I could solve it. And even then I would turn around by accident and go back to the beginning.
In other words, I loved it.
Also, about omen...
I think it would be great for you to learn how, but as far as I know it doesn't work with the new blocks. Which means you would have to delete the entire golden tower to use omen.
But I think that osici is fixing that so omen will work soon!
I don't think its that map itself is hard, I just think I am doing it wrong >_>
You're doing it wrong. Though yes, the map is supposed to be -hard- but I'm not dickish about it..you -can- use your blocks if jumping puzzles give you trouble (as it does me alot..lol).
I think you should make a small cliff just before the rooftop, so if the person got stuck, he won't be able to backtrack and lost alot of time, just make a black door so you in the future be able to take another path to get at the beggining of the map.
Huh? A cliff? No.. the adventure is supposed to be hard. Look around, explore and find a solution.
Sorry for the double post, but I wanted to post this JIC you figure out omen and want to transfer your map to omen and back.
Go see this topic. It's pretty self-explanatory. viewtopic.php?id=2508
Once again, sorry for the double post!
Huh? A cliff? No.. the adventure is supposed to be hard. Look around, explore and find a solution.
Ok, then make sure to fix all the parts where you can jump to outside of the map, like the outside of the great tree, wen i first used the roots to jump to a place outside of the map, i got the feeling that i was cheating the map, but then again i had the same feeling at the rooftop. So its impossible to now where i was cheating or not without a walkthough.
I finally got how the map works, and I gotta say, its pretty great :biggrin.gif:
Only problem I ran into was creepers blowing up the tree :sad.gif:
If only there was a way to get rid of the damned things.
EDIT: so, the tree is the last part you have finished?
EDIT2: scratch that, nevermind :tongue.gif:
EDIT 3:
So I was thinking about what could be in the Golden tower, and, while I am sure this would be incredibly difficult (or maybe impossible), even with Omen, this is my idea.
So here's the basic layout:
1.
on a large pillar in the center of the tower, there is a "portal" that is essentially, the finish line.
I forgot to put in in this picture, but there would also be a lot of suspended blocks hovering around the tower that player would need to jump up to get to the top.
2.
Upon opening the door, the player sets off a chain reaction, (probably using gravel or sand, I don't know :tongue.gif:) that releases the blocks of lava at the top.
3.
The lava would pool at the bottom of the tower and continue to flood upwards, making a major hazard at the bottom, should the player fall. It would also force him to continue upward quickly, adding a sense of tension.
4.
The goal is to basically, reach the top without falling, and beat the rising lava.
While this is probably incredibly difficult, I think it would be a good substitute for a boss (not to mention, leaving it open to a possible sequel :biggrin.gif:).
However this is just a suggestion, a random idea that popped into my head that I decided to draw out, and you may already know what to put in it, so feel free the dismiss it :wink.gif:

Well given the map is not 100% finished, i leave those areas alone as i -might- have a use for them. For now, don't worry if you can explore the unused parts of the map.

Yeah, in my videos i ran into the damn things myself in the tree...they made things faster but still a bit difficult.
Also, thats a nice idea, it would certainly be one hell of a challenge but theres 2 problems with that:
1: Lava, unfortunately, acts like water. It does not simply floor DOWN and fill the area up, unless Notch implements finite lava, this will never happen. :sad.gif:
2: The Tower is more than just a "omfg lava filling death trap" story-wise. It makes no sense why this tower would just suddenly fill with lava upon entrance.
On the other hand, i CAN implement lava deathtraps/mazes when i get a handle on OMEN, but as someone said, it doesn't like the new blocks yet so i'm screwed in that respect. But rest assured, i'll try to make a deathrush with the lava at the bottom of the tower and damn willing I will make all of you scream in pain trying to beat it. =)

so, if you beat the game up until the new update, then do you use your current dungeon save whenever you make an update? also nice pictures skyward.
You use the link on the first post for the "Current Save". If you use you're own save the map won't update if I understand Minecraft's saving system correctly.
oh, right, forgot that's how lava works :tongue.gif:
Ah well, thanks for the response, I'm sure it will turn out great :biggrin.gif:
I'm actually wondering how i'll do save points in the Tower..since the Save Rooms are gold and so is the tower. I think i might make them Silver or have them with a stone outline to make them 'stand out' as save points.
I made a tower just like in Skyward pics, the lava is pretty slow, but its can be reajusted to go alot more faster. It won't go all the way up since its just a example. http://rapidshare.com/files/307856573/torre.mine.html

That is one HUGE tower...i love it. What's the height on that level?
Also in other news, i'm -slowly- grasping how to use OMEN..unfortunately it's too slow fo rme, but on the bright side, i can figure it out enough to add lava traps and such. :biggrin.gif:

just a suggestion(which im not sure if you thought about it) sometime soon you can make a way up to the skyway. it should probably be opened with at least the purple key. i really hated the climb up the tower

Dont worry..you wont need to climb that tower again..
In other other news: I've been tinkering with Omen and trying to make a floating water puzzle with a lava pit on the bottom. Also OMEN has proven to speed up certain things so i'm sure i'll be able to do some more things in this map now. The next dungeon after Sunken Shine 2 will most definately be a Forge and expect lots of lava deathtraps in that one.

Impossible on this map..my sky is not high enough to allow me to make a decent thing like that. Maybe on the next map.
omen let you edit the high without messing with map (well, 0.6 will) but the enemies spawn will increase
But, it seems none of my ideas work, I should just stop, I get the feeling I'm annoying you :tongue.gif:
