Story:
"WAKE UP! WAKE UP!!"
...A voice roars out to you. You wake up inside of a sealed, golden room...the last thing you remember was a major earthquake shaking your town and something falling on your head hard.
"Who are you...?"-- you ask
"I have summoned you to this land..the land of where our faith was born..."-- the voice says in sorrowful tone
"A great evil has befallen the world..spires as brilliant as the sun have risen from the bowels of the underworld! Monsters and the dead have risen!"
"What does that have to do with me...?" -- you ask
"I was the last of our faith..with the remaining mana in my spirit, i was able to find a spirit who could best fight this evil...and thus i found yours and braught you to our land!" -- the voice explains, it's tone growing a bit weary
"There is time...as the evil has just taken root in our land. The monsters should be few...consider this a test..for the evil has risen all across this world and here is only the beginning. Find the Keys..they will unlock the barriers placed by the demons. Find a way into thier Golden Tower and reach the top. There you will be able to send it back to it's accursed world and perhaps a way back to the home i have summoned you from. Good Luck..."
With that the voice fades to silence and it seems, wether you wanted to or not, the only way you might find a way back home is to get into this Golder Tower. It can't be that hard.....can it?
RULES :
-You CANNOT dig/destroy blocks EXCEPT-- Dirt, Wood Planks, "Single Trunk" Trees, CB KEYS and CB DOORS you have a KEY for
-In relation to Dirt and Trees, you cannot break Dirt in the Overworld, Trees with "Branches" and you cant break leafs.
-You CAN ONLY save in Gold Rooms
-You CAN use Dirt/Planks/CBs to barracade doorways and block monsters.
-You CAN use any extra Dirt/CB's/Planks/Sheep Wool to barricade doors, trap monsters or (in frustrating cases ONLY) help make annoying jumps easier.
-BE CAREFUL of your block inventory! You CANNOT break CB Doors if you do not have the CB KEY. So make sure you have 1 CB of each color.
-You are given a set inventory at the start (due to Creation Mode...) Consider the blocks in your inventory useable for helping with Jumping Puzzles or Blocking Monsters. Be Careful with the stone, cobblestone and glass blocks..you CANNNOT break those.
STARTING INVENTORY:
--Beginning Inventory--
-1 Healshroom
-1 Dirtclod
-1 Rose
-1 Shrub
-1 Stone block
-1 Cobblestone
-1 Glass
-1 Plank
-1 Stepping Stone
--Current Dungeon Inventory--
-1 healshroom
-Remaining inventory will have currently available keys up to that point
THINGS OF NOTE (both modes):
Gold Rooms: These are save points. You may ONLY SAVE IN THESE ROOMS. Make sure you close them up with dirt, CBs or Planks so you get no surprize spawn attacks.
Colored Blocks on Glass: These are KEYS. There are 8 Keys (planned) in this adventure. Once you got a key you may destroy walls (doors) of that color.
Colored Block Walls: These are DOORS. You may only destroy them if you have the correct KEY.
Secret Rooms: there are secrets in this map..most of them will be behind Colored Block Doors or suspiciously placed blocks. Most of these secret rooms will have a ALOT of healing shrooms
Added Effects: If you want a little more effect try the following things...
-Play appropriate music for certain areas/dungeons (for safety reasons, please do this while in a Save Room or a safe area. We wouldn't want you to die now would we?)
-Use the "Preformance Fog" and lower the visability while reaching higher altitudes in the Skywalk.
RIGHT NOW:
12/13/09:
!!IMPORTANT CHANGES!!
-- Changed the Red Block in the "empty sphere room" to a Green Block. This not only prevents you from getting out of the room but is a major hint that you need the Green Key, located in the flooded lava maze you were in.
--Redid the jumping puzzle at the top of the beginning dungeon. It should be SLIGHTLY OBVIOUS where to jump and that you won't need to find another key to progress out of the castle.
Other Changes:
-- Changed a couple of blocks in the "OMFG IMPOSSIBLE LAVA DEATH TRAP!!111ONEONE"...it should be -slightly- less painful..but still pretty damn hard.
--Major Cosmetic Change in the beginning areas. The place has some houses now. They don't do anything really, they are just there to flesh out the world a bit more.
--Put in more "rooms" in the first area of the Shine (Green Key dungeon). They don't do anything (yet?) but it's to give more of a feeling that The Shrine was a place of study and such.
--Made some minor cosmetic changes around the map to make it more 'alive' or somethin.
Mostly a cosmetic update this time. I added some touches to the Great Tree Basement (Roots and Moldy Bricks). Most of the day was spent creating the LARGE GORGE OF LAVA FILLED DEATH around the Golden Tower.
--Finished the 1st set of puzzles for the Great Tree (you can access the 2nd floor now)
ALSO: I have a good set of videos uploading to YouTube from the Development Stream running through the map on Survival to the Great Tree. Good fun..and you may need to turn the volume down..i make loud noises. x.o;

EPIC! btw, cna you place blocks for any other purpouse?
edit: crap im stuck on the rooftop with the freakin holes
I listed the uses for blocks...you cant do anything else with them (unless i find something more). As it says you can use your spare CBs and blocks to help with the puzzles. I might even make certain dungeons REQUIRE you to make platforms.
I like this, but is there a goal to it? How does one "win"?
The Ultimate Goal is the reach the top of the Golden Tower. If this was a perfect world, i'd have a Dragon or a Wizard at the top of the tower for a Final Boss...or a teleporter that loads a new map (a sequal to this perhaps :biggrin.gif: )
The map is not finished yet, but the main purpose of this is to have something to do in Survival Mode and a bit of testing my map making skills. There's something else too, i'm not sure what, but i guess i'm trying to make an "experience" as well. Crafting a world with a bit of story to it and such.
About the only thing i'm a bit ticked at is that there have not been a great deal of monsters spawning in the map. I happen upon 1 to 3 encounters from the Castle to the Great Tree and they don't really tax my mushroom supply or make this more difficult. In fact the Jumping Puzzles tend to kill my healing shroom supply more than the monsters. I suppose that's the price i pay for using a SMALL map. Next Time I'll do normal or huge.
For maximum enjoyment, i really do suggest doing the Added Effects as well as a bit of roleplaying/imagination on your (the player) end. There isn't much you can do with Survival Mode right now so i'm making the best of it.
Hi Spycat 811 here, I just wanted to say that so far the game is amazing. I had to play in creative mode for a bit because of the water parts, but that's just cause' I get loads of, erm, "lag" (it's not lag, but I can't think of a better name).
One thing that I want to suggest is that you make a more defined path for people to go on. Because at some parts, like at the roots of the trees for example, it looks like you can jump up the roots to go someplace else/another room.
Or it might just be in my head.
Also, there's one part in the water puzzle where you take out a white block and it floods the entire lava pit.
Anyway, other than that I love the game! Keep up the good work!

The path is pretty defined, i also like to add -some- little secrets as you go along it. As for that part near the tree where you can jump to the top of the hill, i'll fix that..or perhaps make it a secret area.
The holes that flood the lava pit surrounding the tower was a mistake, i'll be fixing that when i update the map again. x.o;
Didn't like it at first glance, but once I made it past the first castle things became amazing. The water puzzles were amazing.
Just a suggestion: perhaps replace the dirt destructables with the white key, because there's a lot to keep track.
I got to the part where, in your videos, would be where the black key would be. I got to that part and all I see is lava.
edit: okay wait, am I holding the black key in my inv already? That's weird, because I saw nothing there. Maybe creepers blew it up and I picked it up from the lava.
edit2: no that wasn't a black key that was a normal rock block.

I just went there in survival mode and i saw nothing different..the key was there and everything. Must of been a glitch or something with Survival Mode?
And no, i wont change the "suspiciously placed dirt blocks" that are part of the puzzles. "As i said to someone else: They're puzzles for a reason, the clues shouldn't be -too- blatently obvious" Look at your surroundings and act accordingly. Besides, the hardest part of this map are the damn jumping areas, and those can be dealt with by blocks in your inventory if they're a pain.
I am definately planning to have later dungeons (perhaps the Tree Dungeon) to actually REQUIRE you to use blocks in your inventory. So inventory woes or 'lack of blocks' may be a consern in the future.
well, i have played it through untill you get to teh second level of the tree, and discovered the end as of now. have to say im disappointed that im gonna have to start all over after every update.
anyway, awesome map so far. it would have been good to have seen more than two color blocks on the first half of the game. REALLY enjoyed the water puzzle, although again, i would have liked not having to have known to punch out that white block near the begining of the course that was only useful at the end.
also, was the 'scary' pit of lava supposed to be flooded like that?
anyway, good job so far, etc.
edit: also, creepers are a problem, not that you can really fix that...
edit2: oh, and you have already noted the flood problem. scratch that...

That's why there's save rooms. Any cosmetic updates have so far been beyond the 2nd Dungeon. If I do change anything in previous areas i'll note them and if it's worth -restarting- over. How about that? =D
Creepers are a problem..
That they are...i've yet to have them cause any MAJOR problems on the map when i testdrive Survival mode. The worst they've done was blow up some dirt, giving me a good handful of dirt for puzzles. Though you're right, i can't do anything about it, even if i layer the entire map in stone under the dirt. The best thing to do is avoid the creepers if they are in a bad place or reload your last save point if they totally screw up something
I might enjoy it more if the darn game wasn't lagging so badly in a browser.
That's not my problem, nor the map's problem. Your internet, java or computer probably isn't capable of playing minecraft if it's lagging baddly. And if it just happened to be like that while playing my map, then your ISP was probably having a bad day.
Just finished the water stage, really good map, its gonna be really epic to see a boss on this map wen possible, meanwhile you can create a boss made of blocks and to "kill" him you have to flood the place with lava, dunno =p
The only complain i have its the rooftop, if i didn't had looked the walkthough i would had sure that i has cheating the map by using that path, maybe make it a little more obvious?
just a though, with the addition of the sheep, you may want to change the colur of the first key, haha.
Yeah..wasn't expecting that honestly. I'll change it to another color then..kind of sucks i cant use white, thats a good "starter color".
I'm stuck with only the white key, I can't find the grey or blue one or that silver one.
You can only get the White and Black keys right now. All other keys are not put in (except Silver...which is blocked by another colored door). The Black Key is in the Sunken Temple (underwater dungeon).

While that is an AWESOME idea (as well as filling me with other great ideas for traps..) the lava is at the very bottom of the map and there is no way i know of to syphon Lava to higher ground.
The only complain i have its the rooftop, if i didn't had looked the walkthough i would had sure that i has cheating the map by using that path, maybe make it a little more obvious?
I suppose i COULD change two certain pedistals into BOOKCASES. I could also sit back and laugh while everyone fails from playing too many games that hold thier hand and use auto aim. I'll think about it since alot of people seem to have trouble on the roof.
