If Notch gave us the power to give out points in survival mode (ex, You get to this location, your score goes up by 1000.) and if we could manually place spawn points for baddies (this isn't 100% necessary.) then we could make maps that would have set objectives and then would end. Then you would load up the next map in the story.
This has sort of already been done but without points being given for completing tasks and without custom spawn points.
Discuss: What would you do with these abilities and what other things would you add to this survival story mode?

This text is just here to take up space. Congratulations. You found it!-Zachariasmith
But once you get into all that fangled scripting stuff, you need a proper editor where you control a flying camera and you also have X Y and Z views.
And maybe a custom NPC maker.
Not really....
Like say Lord Gold's Tundra. That was a cool map, but what if all the mobs came pouring out of the first floor of the castle? That doesn't need a flying camera. In fact, its probably a really easy thing to code. Same with the points. Just assign points for certain X, Y coordinates instead of dead guys.
Perhaps he could just distribute an editor client along with minecraft itself...it would basically be a flyhack that would let you place "point blocks" and "spawn blocks" that are both two blocks high (to prevent unreachable point blocks and enemies spawning within walls).
