I was building on my sandcastle survival save, when I was suddenly besieged by a huge mass of skeletons, zombies, and creepers. Several even made it into my tree-farm base. It gave me an idea for an interesting new mob, the general mob. Basically, they would be intelligent, but rare, mobs, maybe two on the map at once. When they spawn, all mobs near them immediately join their 'army'. They would travel in packs, with creeper traveling ahead as kamikazes, destroying traps and walls, zombies following close behind as foot soldiers, and skeletons behind a zombie "guard" as archers. Finally, in the back would be the general. The mobs would protect the general, and the general would be able to see you wherever you were on the map, and lead the army towards you. Maybe they could try and lure inexperienced players out of their bases with pigs, as well. However, if one was to kill a general, his army would turn on each other, and basically act as the mobs do now- wandering around, fighting with themselves, and maybe joining another army.
Sounds pretty good to me, but I think there should only be one on the map at once...
I don't think it will happen though because intelligence is hard to program. There might be a mob that can see you anywhere and attracts others to it though.

Yeah, that would be a whole lot easier to do and would give the same results minus the creepers in front and the skeletons in the back.

I really like the idea, but not for normal Survival Mode. The whole concept of the monster knowing where you are immediately, no matter where you are, just sounds a bit strange (not to mention unrealistic). Maybe for another game mode, though.

Well, I meant more, line of sight I guess. Right now however, a zombie can be on your front door and not realize it because your just one block to far away.

That would give it basically the same result, yeah. Good idea! :biggrin.gif:
Discuss please.

But monsters know where you are in terms of how close you are to them, even though you're not visible. (I hope this changes.)
