Why hello there! You must be looking for a server to be a part of! (Or just looking at servers; that's good too). The Breakfast Club originally started out as a Steam clan. We played a whole bunch of Garry's Mod and TF2. We still do that, sometimes. We moved all of our community over to Minecraft! You may have seen us on the server list before (We've been here since Oct. 2010). We've been more of a closed community but now we're kicking off officially into the Minecraft community. We are a friendly bunch of people (Yes all of us, except benmatt) who want you to come play with us (again; except benmatt).
Our server does have a few strict policies. For the most part though; you can do what you want. Here are the rules:
1. Don't be a douche!
2. DO NOT GRIEF I WILL HUNT YOU -DOWN-
3. Enjoy pancakes, day and night.
4. DO NOT ask for a rank.
5. Don't. be. a douche.
6. NO LITTLE KIDS OR RETARDED FOLK.
7. If you mention a banned person, you'll be banned yourself.
8. NO PILLARING OR PUNCHING RANDOM-ASS HOLES IN THE GROUND!
9. Things in the guest world are -not- permanent
10. No tunnelling.
11. NO PYRAMIDS.
12. English in main chat.
Rule explanation:
1. Self-explanatory. No one likes a douche, and you'll probably be banned.
2. Completely true. Grieving, to those of you who don't know (who wouldn't know?) is when you purposely destroy someone else's creations. No one likes it. Not even you grievers out there.
3. Very strictly enforced. Non-pancake/non-waffle loving peasants shall be banned on site. (kidding, of course...)
4. Don't do it! We'll either /fakerank you or rank you or kick you.
5. Refer to rule 1. This one has periods to make a point. Because I like making points.
6. If you are a little kid, and make it public, there's a good chance we'll ban you. We don't like little kids who prance around yelling dumb phrases at other builders because they don't know any better..There are some exceptions to little kids. Some are smart. Most are not. We also don't want retards, but that goes hand-in-hand with kids.
7. Admins don't like it when you talk about other people that are banned. It just sets a bad aura for speaking and will make us look bad if we have to explain to you our actions. Which we don't. Unless it's important.
8. Pillaring means making 1x1 towers in the ground, usually to get to something that's in the sky or to see over buildings. Don't do it. It makes the entire map look bad and we really don't want that. We like our maps clean and taken good care of (:! Also, random-ass holes in the ground are a huge pain to clean up.
9. If you have joined, you know that the guest world is for guest building. We clean this out due to it's small size and the amount of guests who build a house and leave.
10. Don't turn the inside of the map into swiss cheese, please!
11. Probably the rule I have to explain the most. Pyramids are most-agreeably one of the easiest things you can possible build in Minecraft. So many people were building them we decided to just ban them altogether so we could actually spawn some creativity from the pyramid-building gentlemen. Pyramid-roofs are fine, just don't make pyramids unless they're super-awesome-amazing.
12. We'd appreciate it if you weren't yelling Portuguese in an English speaking server. We allow you to use whisper instead.
How do I rank up?
TBC isn't like most of the other server that rank you up based on what you build and how well you build. That allows for unqualified people to be in places of power where-as the qualified people may be left behind. We rank you up based on how well you participate in the community, how active you are, and whether or not you can be a likable person (We'd really only like likable people in places of power anyway, you see). The only way that you can be ranked up from building is if you get 1st or 2nd in the weekly contests.
Ranks
TBC has 11 ranks at the moment:
(least to greatest)
inactive: Someone in a place of power who hasn't logged in for a long time will be moved to this rank.
Guest: Default rank. Can not build in any worlds except the guest world.
Guest-builder: First serious rank. Can build in all of the major worlds.
Builder: Has access to much more commands. Larger block limit. Can visit more worlds.
Citizen: Middle rank. More commands. More block limit. Same amount of worlds as builder.
AdvBuilder: Big jump in commands. Much more block limit. Access to adv worlds.
Contestant: Everything that advbuilder has plus the ability to place adminium. Usually only given for contests.
Respected: Honorary veteran member. Right below admin ranks. Gets one or two admin commands.
Mod: First admin rank. Gets all basic admin commands (kick, ban, etc.) Very high block limit. Admin only worlds.
Demi-god: Second admin rank. Has most of the admin commands. Maxed out block limit.
God: Reserved for the very long-time admins and founders of TBC. Maxed out block limits. All commands. (SuperOp)
Server Events
Weekly Building Contests
Every Saturday afternoon (there's no exact time) we hold a contest. The theme varies each week. Participants go and build (within the contest-held map) for a set time limit (depending on the theme) usually around 1-3 hours. At the end, the admins get together and judge the contestants entries based on (usually 3) judging topics. Recurring topics are usually Architecture, Interior, and Exterior. We then judge the contests on a scale of 1-5 (1 being the absolute best and 5 being utterly terrible). The winners have varying prizes each week. Usually, first place gets a rank+*. 2nd place usually gets one rank up*. 3rd place usually gets some credits (TBC currency) and maybe one rank up if the judges feel generous. The consultation prize varies each week. A recurring consultation prize has been one bag of Saltene crackers. We encourage you to come participate! Contests are open to guests.
*In a contest, a rank+ would be going from Builder to AdvBuilder, skipping Citizen. One rank would be from Builder to Citizen.
Flood Friday
Every Friday, we go to the map flood and give participants 10 minutes to build a shelter. Once those 10 minutes are up, the map floods with hot water. Every game, there is a designated bomber, who after a set amount of time will be given permission to bomb participants shelters in order to kill them off. The last man standing will win a set amount of credits (as will the bomber).
Court Sessions
Court sessions are very rare. Court is held whenever a person of high rank (advbuilder+) breaks the rules or angers another player. We allow the community to have the option of being the jury or just watching. We don't go by the United States constitution, but we generally go by the U.S. law system (with a jury and prosecution/defense). We have a designated bailiff that will remove angry individuals. The prosecution and defense have the freedom to choose their own lawyers, or to be their own (the server does have a law firm). Towards the end of the session, we collect the jury and the Justice's decisions on the case and announce what side won and what the other's punishment is (usually demotion or probation). Sometimes credits are involved, but only between one side and the other. If the court session attendance is high, we may give out credits to participants.
Bridge Wars
Bridge Wars are a new activity in The Breakfast Club. We go to the map with no rules (hell) and allow for someone to be a runner, and the rest to be bombers. The runner must get across the adminium bridge without being shot or exploded (while not falling into the lava). The runner has 3 chances to make it across, until another participant is chosen as a runner. All participants for this activity are rewarded credits.
Infection
In Infection, one player is chosen as the alpha zombie. The alpha zombie's goal is to infect as many people as possible, and the infected participant's goal is the same. The infected have 5 minutes to infect every participant, and if they fail, the remaining survivors are rewarded credits. All participants at the end are rewarded credits for this activity, as well. Oh and also, in the guest-builder template below, in the "Anything else?" section put "Food" and you will have a much higher chance of being accepted. I like it when I know you actually read the post. It shows patience!
Gladiator
Set on the map Arena, the participants can choose either to do the event as a group, or go one at a time. As a group, it is much more difficult, but the prize for each individual is much larger. In Gladiator, the participant(s) must fight off hordes of zombies and creepers, and survive deadly airstrikes and underground TNT explosions. After 5 rounds, the participant(s) may choose to carry on for another 5 rounds to increase the prize, or accept the reward they have currently. Winning gladiators receive credits as their prize (varying each event). If a participant gets passed 10 rounds, they may choose to obtain the title "Gladiator" with their credit reward.
Skin Contests
Basically a fashion show. Sadly, only people with the game and with a skin may participate. In the Skin Contest, people walk down a special made stage in cafe to show off their skin, and are given a score by our judging team (1-5, like the weekly building contest). This event is schedule at-least bi-monthly (one every other month) and rewards participants with 1000 credits (even those who showed up to watch). The winner of the Skin Contest receives a hefty amount of credits and usually a rank up. Sometimes a special prize will be thrown in, like permission to organize their own server event.
Monthly Auctions
On the last Friday of every month, we hold a server auction where the community spends their credits (server currency) on set prizes (usually ranks, titles, custom maps). We occasionally auction off a volunteer admin as a slave to a buyer, where the buyer can have the admin do any command they want (with certain restrictions). The event takes place in the cafe auditorium and is usually facilitated by Creid. You obtain credits by participating in a server event. We give 1000 credits to every participant. We encourage you to come to server events so you may participate in the auction! (Think Animal Crossing raffles but instead of a raffle it's an auction).
Buildings
The world Democracy built by benmatt. It's a replica of the United States Pentagon. Also the server's base of operations.
Abstract Art, built on the world grapefruit by the now inactive MikeRatzlaff
The world arena built by benmatt. This is where we hold Gladiator and official Spleef.
The world xzorn built by the now inactive Xzorn. A hand-built replica of the Death-Star. (Never actually finished)
The world citadel built by benmatt. A replica of the City 17 Citadel in Half-Life 2.
Check out the server commercial at the top of the page to see more of the server's buildings and activies!
