Ok, this is a pretty lengthy list but it just barely scratches the surface of what my ideas consist of (I forgot the rest). Please, enjoy...
-Pushable blocks (like how sand drops)
-Sinking sand (like water with sand anim.)
-Cannon (SE)
-Switch connectors (link a door with a switch farther away than one square)
-Hidden doors (blends with whatever material is around it)
-Trap doors (blends and can only be activated by switch)
-Spikes (waved injury [like drowning], can be placed sideways)
-Hidden pressure plates (blends)
-Mounts (the saddles may indicate this happening in upcoming versions)
-Illumination of torches while in hand (SE)
-Swarm mob (a small quick swarm of ten[?] mobs that only take one hit each to kill)
-AI that digs (this will force players to think more about their dwellings)
-Fish (the fishing pole may indicate this happening in upcoming versions)
-Potions (health, invisibility, armor [obtained through various raw ingredients, mushrooms, flowers, plants])
-Map (records automatically within x amount of squares as you walk [waypoints, bookmarking, notes])
-Seasons (along with day/night cycle basic seasons [spring, summer, fall, winter] so as to be able to do different things {with the water frozen, could access areas faster than swimming or boating})
-Calendar (to go with seasons [events recorded by user, can be placed on wall for quick look at current date, when carried alerts user of recorded events, multiple calendars share same data {other users in multiplayer can pick up calendars to to use as a daily task manager, great for organized team building}])
-Recordable books (given the writeable signs and books, it is likely we will see this happen)
-Spotlights (consisting of a torch and mirrored blocks, this is a focused beam of light that can be equipped, placed sideways or facing up [great for land marking])
-Mirror blocks (SE)
-Scaffolding (wooden structure that uses less material than traditional stacking-of-blocks method, great for caves, tall cliff mining, building)
-Linkable minecarts (prevents separation and powered carts will be able to pull)
-Redstone sword? (questionable but an interesting idea however, this will be a weak sword [wears out fast] but will deliver fire damage to foes)
-Hand cannon? (handheld, very slow, extremely powerful
-Backpack (extra storage)
-Auto-Equip (if item is put above the desired slot it will auto "fall" into equip bar)
-Tool/Block proficiency (the more you use/mine a tool/block you will gain skill toward tool/block that enables you to use/mine more efficiently/economically)
-Wings? (wings, Leonardo style... It'll somewhat keep with a medieval theme, made out of feathers and sticks. When equipped, jump and hold space to glide, great for a quick escape or a quick but safe decent down a mountain)
-Rope (made out of string this can be a cost effective and versatile substitute for a ladder)
-Crossbow (more accurate, more deadly, more expensive than a bow)
-Wire (made from iron stacked like sticks, used for cable)
-Ruins (like dungeons but with a [still random] building-like layout with rare items in rooms guarded by... something bad)
-Portals (uses something relatively valuable, requires a map [maybe if used by itself takes user to a random small island {good for resource hunting}] to teleport to an already established portal, simply click and you're off. Maybe should cost some resource per use, or per opening)
-Primitive elevator (using cable and an iron box [amount of cable determined by depth of elevator])
-Bugs (for collecting [and eating in a pinch])
-Fruit on trees (restores health)
-Bushes (SE)
-3D tall grass (similar to wheat, grows in plains)
-Buried treasure (SE)
-Time capsules (random stories that hint to locations of treasure? {Q} or dungeons, lootable, craftable, good for multiplayer)
-Craftable currency (multi-player only [unless somehow NPCs are added] used for trade and market stalls, iron gold diamond)
-Ability to dye (dying items would be very nice)
I think that's all (haha). I hope that a lot of people read this and post their own ideas or improve on mine or disapprove my ideas, whatever... Feel free, just respect each-other...
