some things I would like to have as items:
1. scuba gear: I would love this. You could make them using different materials and each material allows more and more time to stay under water. This would be great for underwater exploration.
2. An over head map: this would be great for when you die. So many times I have been in a cave and a monster sneaks up on me and kills me. I had been carrying tons of gear and travelled far without a clue how to get back to where I was. I would love an overhead map where I can manually mark places like entrances to caves or buildings that I have.
3. Stackable signs: I love signs. They work great but I would love to carry them in stacks of 64 like the other things. I use signs to mark places where I have been but it is hard to carry so many.
4. Larger monsters: It be neat to see a very large dragon or ogre in a cave. These large monsters could guard some uber treasure or something.
5. Sea creatures would be great. Though I believe this will be coming soon given there is a fishing pole that you can create.
6. I would also love to be able to make an air balloon maybe fashioned using cloth, mine cart, and coal. Travelling would be similar to riding a boat and could be powered by coal....as in you would have to continuously feed it coal over a span of time to remain in air.
1. maybe flashlights for underwater.
2. I don't think it would make the game easy to have a map. Its not like the map is giving you anything except over head view (of areas you have been mind you). The ability to add notes would just help to add to the game play.
3. what if signs were made of paper, then they could be considered stackable.
4. Dragons would just be amazing. More incentive to explore all areas you come into contact with.
1. You'll need underwater torches/lanterns as well. Introduce the two of them in a package.
2. No. This would make the game too easy.
3. No. Signs are classified as a big item, just like tools and weapons.
4. Notch has said that he'll put in dragons, which will be big.
How about only on certain difficulties the map is available?
Just bumping this thread because I would love to have some scuba gear. Would make for mining and exploring underwater much cooler. But of course we'd also need sharks to go with that =)
Another suggestion I'd like to throw out that I'm sure has been said before is being able to pick up mob spawners. I would love to be able to pick some up instead of just destroying them.
UltimateBudgie, more than one suggestion per topic, I think, is better because if you have heaps of ideas, you can put them all out in one topic instead of having seperate topics and some other ideas you have might not be as seen as some other ones. Putting them all in the same topic promotes them ALL at the same time.
The rule enables people to really think, and go indepth about one idea, rather than making endless lists of Ideas which haven't been thought out so well.
Anyway, if you have a problem with a rule, discuss it here: viewforum.php?f=7

One Suggestion per topic is a rule, not a suggestion by me:
