You need to find or create a reliable source of water, or else you may die of thirst.
Buckets. Well, yeah, I guess that would count as "create", but it's not terribly difficult.

You need to explore for tonic supplements, or else you may die of illness.
This sort-of makes sense.

The inquisitors were torturing Harry.
First, Ignatius used the rock.
Then Billy asked Harry if he wanted to read his BDSM blog. Harry was so surprised that his pants flew right off. He was wearing women's underpants. The inquisitors were wearing them, too.
I like the general idea, although it seems a bit overcomplicated. I would prefer a simple hunger, thirst, and health system.
Edit: I also approve of the idea that food should not heal, only fill hunger. A bite of bread does not heal mortal wounds.
Edit2: Actually, I decided to read the whole wall of text instead of summing it up by reading the first few paragraphs and then skimming the rest, and I have decided I like all of this.
"The main reason I support hunger is the same reason why I support food spoilage... It forces the player to plan ahead. Building farms is now a necessary part of Survival, and this, if you ask me, is completely appropriate."
Pretty much how I feel on hunger.^
I would be fine with all of these if there is still a way for me to grow produce, etc inside. Some way to grow Shrooms, flowers, etc. Maybe artificial lights created with redstone made specifically for plants? (The stuff ALREADY glows when you mine it.)
Only reason I would be against the tonic\disease part would be the inability to obtain these items constantly. (You can't grow shrooms or flowers.) Would force the player to travel extremely large distances.

There is no greater crime against humanity than the intentional preservation of the weak and incompetent.
Problem is that this discourages exploration and encourages just sitting around in your greenhouse-bunker with a well.
It does discourage exploration in that the world becomes more dangerous with the risk of hunger, thirst, and sickness.
But to the same degree, it makes it so you have to go out to confront it.
You need to be outside to farm and hunt, or else you may starve.
You need to find or create a reliable source of water, or else you may die of thirst.
You need to explore for tonic supplements, or else you may die of illness.
You need to find a suitable place for shelter, or else you may die from the creatures of the night and the very land itself.
You must brave the dangers of the world to survive!
I personally think it would also add to exploration. Forage for food instead of farming it, using small caves as makeshift shelters during the night, lighting campfires, and pretty much living your pixellated life by the seat of your diamond pants. :biggrin.gif:
same here,
but for the tonics if we cant grow flowers and shrooms, why not add papyrus to the list as something that cures disease sometimes when mixed with redstone. otherwise i would not be doing much settling down and would be on a search for mushrooms.
Perhaps it could be like Hardcore Mode in the upcoming games Fallout: New Vegas? Where it's completely separate from the difficulty, so it's a different option altogether. That way I can play on Normal or Easy, but still have the survival meters, or on Hard and not have them.

They realized that they were all men of the lord.
