(Of course, it's what this sub-forum is for, right?)
"Unbreakable" blocks only being deletable in "/solid" mode - Basically, it would really cut down a few more possibilities of "accidental" server flooding. Water elevators without sponges is one thing that comes to mind. Granted, maybe I'm just a bit careless when I play spleef with others, but something like this wouldn't hurt.
Top-half Blocks - The way I see it, this could potentially fix a few physics issues with the current half blocks if it's just tweaked so bottom-half and top-half make a double stair block. After that, would the falling physics for the current half-blocks even be needed?
"Mini" maps - "Mini" meaning everything is 1/2 size, mainly for better scaling in some cases. Measurement-wise, the map should also be halved to keep the filesize manageable (like a 128x128x64 map containing .5x.5x.5 blocks as opposed to a 256x256x128 map containing 1x1x1 blocks).
Server-wide textures - Even though you can make everything be winter-themed on your end, there's really no way to make it look like that for others on a server short of giving them the same mod you're using. There's also only so much we can squeeze into a byte of data, so we obviously can't combine everything (regular, seasonal, desert, personal mods, etc.) together simultaneously. Maybe there can be a server-defined tileset that appears when you connect to it, and an option to change to default in the menu?
I don't mean to sound demanding, but to me it doesn't seem like many of these would be that difficult to implement. Then again, I don't know any coding beyond what I can do in my calculator...

Good idea, should be implemented imho. I have suggested this to Notch on the IRC and he thought it was a good idea.

It's a good idea but because they're already bugged as hell, I think this could take some time.

There have been numerous threads about this already.

About the smaller maps, all I've really seen is people shooting the idea down because it needs to be directional (slope and quarter blocks), and/or it would make filesizes huge. What I was saying was that even though 8 blocks would fit where 1 used to be, each would be considered separate in the actual file. Then the map itself would be smaller to compensate for this. I mean, Notch already has the half-block physics set up, so if the half-blocks were removed from this mode, the physics are (more or less) already good to go.
+1 for unbreakable blocks. I quite like it. I accidentally delete them frequently.

Notch says this won't come. He doesn't like it.
Aww, that was my favorite idea :sad.gif:
I'm mostly been supportive of Notch's decisions, however I must say that truly disappoints me.
On another note, the /solid idea is very nice. Not only is it good for spleef, but also to prevent accidentally opening stuff that you're not supposed to.

And BTW, I support all these ideas.
