I've been playing Minecraft for few days, and as for every game I played I already have quite much of suggestions, so I decided to post them here:
Letters in () mean, that over another place with same mark there is continuation of this 'topic'
1) Brick suggestions
-Brick (I know it was already suggested, sorry)
-Mayan-styled bricks for building temples
-Snow, Ice, Glassy ice and snowy earth for arctic landscapes
-Swamps and quicksand - appearing naturally, and maybe could be placed by players, players would slowly 'sink' in them, but as long, as they are near surface they can walk with only little decreased speed
-Cracked stones/walls that would collapse when players jump on them, or stand too long
-'alien' bricks, that grow themselves in all directions slowly (very slow for vertical growth).
-I heard, that sponge has to be removed once there will be finite water, but in my opinion it should stay, as it is quite climatic. (a)
-Static water - I know it is stupid, but it will allow to build pools at top of buildings, which could be cool
-Forcefield - almost invisible, and self-rebuilding after some time, if there are forcefield bricks around.
-Teleport blocks - there would be 9 different teleport blocks, and every one will teleport you to randomly chosen teleport brick of same type when you stand on it for few seconds.
-Red rock, mossy rock, etc.
-Ladders - players could climb on it. Would be very usefull sometimes.
-Bamboo trees.
-Team-specific bricks (I know it was suggested already, but I double the idea - it is great) that only team that placed them could remove
-Checkpoint bricks-When players stands on them their respawn point is set to this block positon, they will be teleported there when they die.
-Arrow traps. Could be rotated with keys before placing. Will be mayan-themed, and will shoot at any player that would pass by teleporting them to last checkpoint
-Spike traps - simply spikes will appear out of the floor killing those standing on it.
2)Landscape suggestions:
-I think, that there should be an option to choose map size separately for width, height and length with same options for all three axis
-Maybe some randomly generated large trees?
-Randomly generated ruins underground. That would be cool to play as an 'archeologists' :smile.gif: of course this could be disabled for map generation.
-Options for if players want water, lava, ores, caverns, etc. on their new map.
-Mountains - biiiiiig mountains made of stone
-Canyons
-Pits.
-Volcanos (without lava inside, so it won't flood whole map.)
-Possibility to generate maps that are inside big caves instead of standard maps.
3)Miscellanous suggestions
-Add some weapons (both melee and ranged/guns) to allow players to fight. Players that would not choose to participate in fights will be invurenable to attacks (if it is not a battle game mode)
-Add some ancient artifacts, that could be found underground.
-(a) I think, that there should be setting about which one water you want on your new map (neverending, finite. and falling (as someone suggested))
-Vehicles! I simplified the idea, so it could be easier implemented - First player chooses type of vehicle he wants to create (boat, car, chopper, plane, UFO, train, cannon, etc.) and then they get new object made of blocks that are 1/4 width, height and length as normal ones. There is also additional 'activation' block, that allows players to control the object when they click on it)
-Event servers. Special servers, where players have special goal (like finding artifacts, building city in specified theme, or anything else server creator decides)
-Ban gun - for admins and iserver 'keepers' (I do not know how it is called) - it will ban targeted players.
-Some possibility for someone to visit (without possibility to build anythink) singleplayer maps.
4) Suggested game modes (probably they are already planned, or suggested, but I've got nothing to lose)
-Archeologists - each player have to find artifacts before others, game ends when 75% of artifacts had been collected.
-Griefer simulation - normal sandbox game with many bots, some of them normal, but some of them acting like griefers.
-Capture the flag
-Deathmatch (I know it won't suit game too much, but I would like it)
-Bridge race - who will be first to connect all sides of maps with bridge.
-Team deathmatch
-Treasure hunt - players would mine gold, coal and ore, then take it to their bases. They could also be stolen.
-Area control - random checkpoints are generated, they get captured by being touched by player. The more checkpoints team have the more points they score every second. First team to achieve X points wins.
-As suggested earlier - Events
-Battle - each team have a castle, can build cannnons, catapults, etc. and they simply battle to destroy enemy castle. Building/destroing/buying vehicles/weapons is done with money got from digging ore/gold/coal. Individual players money could be put on ground as gold bricks
-Siege - as battle, but only one side have got castle, and opposing team players respawns immediately at start of map with basic equipment
5)Players:
-There would be in-game 'money' that players could use for 'hiring' other players to work on something.
-Unregistered players have only initial amount of money (maybe 100), while players who register get a bonus of 1500 (maybe)
-It could be used to buy a new skin (so unregistered players could look cool too)
-You could hire some admins or some kind of other people to protect your server from griefers.
-Maybe earning money from visitors in some way?
-I have seen jails in some servers, and I think that there should be more jails (maybe 10 for each map) so all players will be locked separately.
-Players, that will be proven by admins to be fair will be checked as 'thrustworthy', so they won't have to sit in jail at start.
All comments appreciated. Hope they will get implemented. Also to game developers: I would be very happy, if I could help you with something. Especially texturing, scripting and of course with my ideas ^^

Note: Most of the comments I've made were thought of for multiplayer servers, not Single Player.
Ok, so here are some more ideas from me, now I've played multiplayer too, hosted some servers (although private), and enjoyed spleef and griefing here are some more ideas from me:
1st - we need some 'special' blocks, that serve some function like cracked bricks suggested by me earlier, so here are some more:
Adminsponge - disallows anything withn radius of 5/7 blocks to be deleted. Also it can only be deleted by admins, and only they can see it. Other players can pass trough it.
Buildings - made from bricks, that have got 1/4 the height, 1/4 the width, and 1/4 lenght, so they are 1/64 the size. Buildings would be usefull for creating custom animations.
After playing infiniminer I must suggest road bricks, that makes players standing on them move 2 or 4 times faster.
"Sticky" bricks - players can walk on walls made from it, and on ceilings made from it.
As I said earlier - we need traps (but maybe they won't kill anyone in sandbox mode, but instead teleport them to their checkpoint.)
Anti-checkpoint bricks - You can't set checkpoint in range of 7 bricks from it - it will be usefull whle constructing mazes/arenas/etc. where you want players to not teleport.
Bombs! - Something, that can remove bricks faster would be usefull, especially in single player.
Spring blocks - as in infiniminer - when you step on one you get bumped high up.
Invisible bricks - after few seconds after being placed they disappear - would be useful in creating bridges, that can only be passed by ones, who know how to do it. Could be useful as anti-griefer tool, because spawn jail could get replaced with small island connected to main land with invisible bridge, and people would have to ask about how to get to main map.
Respawn blocks - when you step on one of these you are forced to teleport to last checkpoint. Would be usefull in creating "missions" in sandboc mode - after getting trough doors with floor of Checkpoint blocks they have their spawn point set there, and when they fall into lava they are automatically teleported back.
LOD - 16x16x16 areas that are currently used could be as well saved thrice, once in 16x16x16, once in 8x8x8, and once in 4x4x4. This would be quite usefull for very large maps (larger than 512x512x512), as it will decrease RAM usage on clients, and servers won't be much more busy as it will increase RAM usage only a bit. It would be usefull, when there would be maps of higher resolution.
THere should be better in-game map generator, because ones in OMEN can't be used with singleplayer maps. It should feature more heightmap algorythms (clouds, difference clouds (like in GIMP, already tested - it makes _great_ maps), noise(blurred of course), maybe mirrored/caleidoscoped heightmaps), choice of material layers, types of terrain objects that get generated (trees, shrooms (made of rock&ground), pits, walls, maybe some ruins?), choice for amount of caves(maybe option to connect all of them to each other?), veins, for "sharpness" of cliffs, water level (option to replace it with lava). It would be good to have an one-in-all generator (especially in-game).
But my main purpose is to create "action" bricks, that let creation of challenges/missions in sandbox mode. Also maybe some special bricks available only to registered users? (I'm not one of them :/)
EDIT:
SOmebody suggested laying/sitting animations, so I suggest other poses/emotes:
1 - we need some emotes (maybe just some 3D texture appearing over player head?)
2 - more poses - lying,sitting, crawling, dancing, bowing, speaking, etc.
Snake, the last one on the whole marking people as good or bad to let them out of spawn or not. That's actually solved without much problem, as all you would need to do is make a second spawn point and have a "/settrustspawn" command for OPs.
Although I'm not the first to suggest it, there should be more ranks than OP and normal. There should be OP, Mod, ect and some of the features would be only OP can IPBan, Mod can do all except IPBan (Maybe ban, too), and then another lower would have access to admincrete, and maybe the other being a trusted and they wouldn't be stuck in a jail.
Another idea is when you fill your spawn and it tries to spawn you on top, that shouldn't happen. Just keep them inside of the blocks, considering it's easy to delete a block from the inside. That way, you wouldn't have all of those problems with people escaping spawn after abusing it, and admins wouldn't have to go through all of that trouble.

Hope you got this idea right, I would really love to see it implemented, as it would allow creation of custom physics without using custom servers (or somebody could implement it into custom server).
But wait! Here are some more ideas from me:
-As much map converters as possible, for first I would suggest: Dwarf Fortress->Minecraft and 3D files ->Minecraft
-More outfits, hats, etc. (for Sandbox mode as well)

-I have seen jails in some servers, and I think that there should be more jails (maybe 10 for each map) so all players will be locked separately.
-Players, that will be proven by admins to be fair will be checked as 'thrustworthy', so they won't have to sit in jail at start.

I would probably post more ideas, because as for now I do not have anymore time.

Note: Most of the comments I've made were thought of for multiplayer servers, not Single Player.
1st - we need some 'special' blocks, that serve some function like cracked bricks suggested by me earlier, so here are some more:
Adminsponge - disallows anything withn radius of 5/7 blocks to be deleted. Also it can only be deleted by admins, and only they can see it. Other players can pass trough it.
Buildings - made from bricks, that have got 1/4 the height, 1/4 the width, and 1/4 lenght, so they are 1/64 the size. Buildings would be usefull for creating custom animations.
After playing infiniminer I must suggest road bricks, that makes players standing on them move 2 or 4 times faster.
"Sticky" bricks - players can walk on walls made from it, and on ceilings made from it.
As I said earlier - we need traps (but maybe they won't kill anyone in sandbox mode, but instead teleport them to their checkpoint.)
Anti-checkpoint bricks - You can't set checkpoint in range of 7 bricks from it - it will be usefull whle constructing mazes/arenas/etc. where you want players to not teleport.
Bombs! - Something, that can remove bricks faster would be usefull, especially in single player.
Spring blocks - as in infiniminer - when you step on one you get bumped high up.
Invisible bricks - after few seconds after being placed they disappear - would be useful in creating bridges, that can only be passed by ones, who know how to do it. Could be useful as anti-griefer tool, because spawn jail could get replaced with small island connected to main land with invisible bridge, and people would have to ask about how to get to main map.
Respawn blocks - when you step on one of these you are forced to teleport to last checkpoint. Would be usefull in creating "missions" in sandboc mode - after getting trough doors with floor of Checkpoint blocks they have their spawn point set there, and when they fall into lava they are automatically teleported back.
LOD - 16x16x16 areas that are currently used could be as well saved thrice, once in 16x16x16, once in 8x8x8, and once in 4x4x4. This would be quite usefull for very large maps (larger than 512x512x512), as it will decrease RAM usage on clients, and servers won't be much more busy as it will increase RAM usage only a bit. It would be usefull, when there would be maps of higher resolution.
THere should be better in-game map generator, because ones in OMEN can't be used with singleplayer maps. It should feature more heightmap algorythms (clouds, difference clouds (like in GIMP, already tested - it makes _great_ maps), noise(blurred of course), maybe mirrored/caleidoscoped heightmaps), choice of material layers, types of terrain objects that get generated (trees, shrooms (made of rock&ground), pits, walls, maybe some ruins?), choice for amount of caves(maybe option to connect all of them to each other?), veins, for "sharpness" of cliffs, water level (option to replace it with lava). It would be good to have an one-in-all generator (especially in-game).
But my main purpose is to create "action" bricks, that let creation of challenges/missions in sandbox mode. Also maybe some special bricks available only to registered users? (I'm not one of them :/)
EDIT:
SOmebody suggested laying/sitting animations, so I suggest other poses/emotes:
1 - we need some emotes (maybe just some 3D texture appearing over player head?)
2 - more poses - lying,sitting, crawling, dancing, bowing, speaking, etc.
Although I'm not the first to suggest it, there should be more ranks than OP and normal. There should be OP, Mod, ect and some of the features would be only OP can IPBan, Mod can do all except IPBan (Maybe ban, too), and then another lower would have access to admincrete, and maybe the other being a trusted and they wouldn't be stuck in a jail.
Another idea is when you fill your spawn and it tries to spawn you on top, that shouldn't happen. Just keep them inside of the blocks, considering it's easy to delete a block from the inside. That way, you wouldn't have all of those problems with people escaping spawn after abusing it, and admins wouldn't have to go through all of that trouble.
-(For people with full game only) Personal blocks - Blocks, that have custom texture and parameters (if it is affected by gravity, if it lets sun trough, etc.) set by players. This could be quite hard to iplement, but possible.
-Custom blocks for servers. What about a file, that would hold inde of all the blocks, and would allow creation of custom ones, something like that maybe:

Textures would be saved in .bmp format, and would be 16x16 8bit/24bit uncompressed images in ./Textures folder, while data file containing it would be Materials.txt in server folder.
Hope you got this idea right, I would really love to see it implemented, as it would allow creation of custom physics without using custom servers (or somebody could implement it into custom server).
But wait! Here are some more ideas from me:
-As much map converters as possible, for first I would suggest: Dwarf Fortress->Minecraft and 3D files ->Minecraft
-More outfits, hats, etc. (for Sandbox mode as well)
And I guess I'm slowly running out of ideas...

Bad idea, if everyone was in different jails, then they could break out w/hacks and op wouldn't know b4 it was too late...
